The MLC and Telangana senior Congress leader Yadava Reddy has made it clear that the UPA Government’s presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee was not against the creation of separate Telangana State.

The State government on Monday issued a GO transferring IFS officers and giving them new postings.

According to the GO, B. Anand Mohan, Conservator of Forests, who was waiting posting order, was posted as Conservator of Forests, Khammam Circle vice Vipin Chaudhary, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests/ Conservator of Forests, Khammam, transferred.

Cong should take a clear stand on YSR and Jagan: VHR

Sangma not allowed to meet Jagan in jail

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Presidential candidate and former speaker of Lok Sabha P A Sangma today met YSR Congress party honorary president and Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijayamma and sought her party’s support to his candidature. Sangma also congratulated Vijayamma for the party victory in the recent by-elections.

On Monday morning, Sangma went to the Chanchalguda jail where Jagan was kept on his mission of seek support of YSRC party to his candidature. But the jail officials did not allow him to meet Jaganmohan Reddy.

CBI raids at former bank manager’s residence

CBI today carried out searches at the residential premises of a former branch Manager of Bank of Maharashtra after registering a case of alleged corruption against him in disbursement of loans worth Rs 1.76 crore.

The agency registered a case under IPC section related to cheating, forgery among other charges on former Branch Manager, Bank of Maharashtra Leader Road branch Allahabad and five others, CBI spokesperson said here.

Fake maid service: Five arrested for duping victims

Five persons, including three women, were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing maid servants who would disappear within hours of joining.

Lakhan Singh, Bablu, Anita, Sapna and Poonam were arrested on a complaint filed by one Dinesh Shabharwal of Shalimar Bagh that he was cheated of Rs 16,000 by the gang for arranging a maid.

He said the maid who joined duty disappeared within an hour and never returned.

Government failed to check slowing economy, says BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party Monday criticised the moves of the finance ministry and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to boost the slowing economy, saying they had failed in their purpose.

“The government has failed…four steps announced by the RBI and the finance ministry to check a slowing economy resulted in the share markets coming down,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

“This is a cosmetic exercise and indicates policy paralysis in the government.”

Indian forcing woman into sex trade, jailed in Dubai

A 20-year-old Indian has been sentenced to three years in jail in Dubai for luring a 31-year-old Indian woman to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and forcing her into prostitution.

The man — who worked as a servant in Dubai — was convicted by the Dubai Court of First Instance, the Gulf News daily reported. The man pleaded not guilty.

The woman told the court the man forced her to have sex with seven men every day.

India congratulates Egypt’s president-elect

India Monday congratulated Egypt’s president-elect Mohamed Morsi, who won an historic election Sunday, defeating his rival Ahmed Shafiq, a former premier and a senior leader of Hosni Mubarak era, by around one million votes.

“Egypt has successfully conducted its presidential elections. We respect and welcome the verdict of the people of Egypt and extend our congratulations to them and president-elect Dr. Mohamed Morsi,” India’s ministry of external affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said in response to a query.

BJP against financial assistance to Muslim girls in UP

The Bhartiya Janata Party today staged a walk-out from Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council in protest against the state government”s scheme to give financial assistance to girl students of the minority community.

The issue was raised by the BJP members through an adjournment notice during Zero Hour demanding a debate on the scheme announced by the state government.

The BJP members said that the government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to girl students of the minority community after passing high school examination conducted by the UP Secondary Education Board.

‘Over 80 technical, management colleges closed shop this year’

Over 80 colleges in the area of technical and management studies have closed shop this year so far, with majority of them being management colleges, a top AICTE official said today.

“81 colleges have closed down this year and out of which 50 colleges are of management and 8 are engineering colleges and rest in other streams,” All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) Chairman S S Mantha told reporters here.

30 Syrian army men defect to Turkey

Thirty-three Syrian army defectors, including a general and two colonels, have fled to Turkey, Turkish state-run Anadolu news agency reported Monday.

The defectors and their family members were sent to a camp in Apaydin in southern Hatay province, RIA Novosti said.

More than 33,000 Syrians have fled to Turkey since violence broke out in Syria in March last year, according to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.

According to the UN, around 10,000 people have been killed in clashes between Syrian government troops and opposition forces.

Kerala to form panels to protect workers in Middle East

The state’s Non-Resident Keralites’ Affairs Department (NORKA) will set up advisory committees in the Middle East to protect the rights of migrant kerala workers, a minister said here Monday.

The panels will include representatives from the state government department’s field agency NORKA Roots, Malayalee organisations and eminent non-resident Indians, said Minister for Non-Resident Keralites Affairs K.C. Joseph.

“The committees will look into issues faced by migrant workers in the Middle East and will report and assist Indian embassies and missions in resolving them,” Joseph added.

CID identifies 65 accused in Laxmipet carnage

The State Police on Monday claimed that it has so far identified 65 accused involved in the carnage of Dalits of Laxmipet village of Vangara mandal in Srikakulam district on June 12.

Abu Jundal admits role in 26/11 attack, links with ISI

LeT terrorist Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal, who was arrested by Delhi Police, has admitted his active role in the 26/11 attack saying he had worked in close tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

During his interrogation, Jundal confessed his role in the country’s worst terror attack and admitted that he was present in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) control room in Karachi and was giving direction to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike.
