The Afzalgunj police has detected a case of snatching cash within, four
days and recovered stolen property i.e. Rs. 2,05,000/- out of Rs. 2,05,380/- by apprehending the
accused Mohammed Rukhsan Khan alias Irfan, a Plumber of Azampura.

(NSS): The state government and the DGP Dinesh Reddy have filed petitions separately challenging the orders of the Central Administrative Tribunal setting aside the appointment of the latter by the former.
Senior IPS officer Gautham Kumar has challenged the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as the DGP complaining that his seniority was overlooked.

CHANDRABABU CONDEMNS MURDER OF HIS PARTY WORKER

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the murder of his party worker Nandarapu Ramanna (40) in Taalla Ookallu village under Maripeda mandal of Warangal district.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he has charged the Congress of murdering his party man and said Congress was resorting to the heinous culture of murder politics whenever it came to power. He said it was atrocious that Congress, which could not face its opponents, was trying to eliminate them.

MHA transfers 5 IAS officers from Delhi

Amid tussle between the Centre and Delhi government over the issue of shifting officials out of capital, Union Home Ministry today ordered transfer of five senior IAS officers attached with the city administration.

Those transfered included Directorate of Municipal Services Director R K Srivastava, Chief Electoral Officer Reena Roy, Labour Commissioner Ramesh Tiwari and Delhi Jal Board member Rinku Gugga, sources said.

Another Rajasthan woman wants annulment of child marriage

Another woman in Rajasthan has requested the authorities to annul her marriage which was solemnised when she was a child and sought permission to live with another man of her choice, police said Wednesday.

According to police, the woman, Sajana Kumari, 21, is a resident of Beelwa village near Khetri town in Jhunjhunu district, some 200 km from Jaipur.

“Her husband, Dhara Singh, approached police recently saying that Mahipal Gujjar is keeping Sajana in confinement against her wish. We recovered the girl and also rounded up Gujjar, acting on the complaint,” a police officer told IANS.

Etihad starts new cargo service to Saudi Arabia

The UAE’s Etihad Airways has launched a weekly cargo service to the Saudi Arabian city of Dammam, it was announced Wednesday.

The service, provided by an Airbus A300-600F freighter and with a capacity of 42 metric tonnes, will be available every Tuesday.

Etihad Airways already operates 16 weekly passenger services between the two cities.

Malik rejects Chidambaram’s remarks on state support to 26/11

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik today rejected Home Minister P Chidambaram’s assertion of “state support” to the terrorists behind 26/11 massacre, saying ISI was a target of “propaganda campaign”.

“We are proud of our ISI, which is defending Pakistan”, Malik said adding the ISI’s role in the war on terror was “well recognised by everybody” but the spy agency was the target of a propaganda campaign.

Monkey gets pig heart

The heart of a genetically modified pig has been successfully transplanted into a monkey by scientists in South Korea, it was reported here.

It is the first time the country has claimed to have accomplished such an inter-species operation, Daily Mail reported.

Known as xenotransplantation, it is seen by some as a way to end the chronic shortage of human organs available for transplants.

Before the controversial procedure, conducted in Seoul, the cloned pig had its genes responsible for immune rejection removed.

Manmohan calls for revival of ‘animal spirit’ in economy

A day after taking charge of the finance ministry, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today sought to give a push to the sagging economy as he directed initiation of steps to reverse the climate of pessimism and revive investor sentiment.

Singh reviewed the state of economy passing through difficult phase in a series of meetings with Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, PMEAC chairman C Rangarajan and top finance ministry officials.

“Reverse the climate of pessimism…revive the animal spirit in the country’s economy,” the PM told officials.

Gujarat police also seek custody of Abu Jundal

Police have sought the custody of suspected terrorist Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal, arrested on June 21 at IGI airport in Delhi, as he is wanted in two cases being probed by the state Anti-terrorism Squad.

“We were the first one to disclose his name. Our ATS is in touch with Delhi police to bring Jundal here, we have formally put in our request,” Director General of Police Chitranjan Singh said here.

Flight returns after technical snag detected

A Singapore bound Air India flight with 144 passengers on board returned to Anna International terminal here soon after take off today following a technical snag, airport sources said.

The flight left for Singapore this afternoon, but reported a technical snag in mid air, following which it
returned and landed at around 4 PM, they said.

The passengers were later taken to their onward destination by another aircraft, they said.

Meanwhile,there was a two hour delay in take off of a Goa bound Spice Jet flight from here after a minor scuffle between a passenger and cabin crew.

YSRC accuses CBI JD of taking things ‘too personal’

YSR Congress on Wednesday came down heavily on CBI Joint Director VV Lakshminaryana for taking the case too personal and joining hands with the adversaries of Sakshi media house and Party President YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

HC rejects Srilakshmi’s bail petition

In a setback to suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who was arrested in the Obulapuram Mining Corporation’s illegal mining scam, the High Court on Wednesday refused to grant her bail.

After hearing the arguments and counter arguments, the court rejected the bail petition of Srilakshmi. The CBI counsel argued that she might tamper with evidence and influence the witnesses if she was granted bail. Stating that her presence was still necessary for the investigation agency, the counsel appealed to court not to grant bail to Srilakshmi.

Jundal had carried out electrical work at police HQ: Cops

Sayed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal, the key handler of terrorists, who struck Mumbai in 2008, had carried out electrical work at district police headquarters here in 2004-05, police said.

People, who knew Jundal recalled him as a hard-working and multi-skilled young boy, who also dabbled with computers
to surf the Internet.

“The 30-year-old Jundal had spent a lot of time at the police headquarters’ in Beed in 2004-05, where he worked as an electrician when the building was under renovation,” a police official told PTI.

Bengal students develop oxygen saving device

Three students of a Howrah engineering college claim to have designed a device which reduces wastage of oxygen during ventilation and acts as a non-invasive ventilator.

The device, named Oxy-Con (oxygen control), has been developed by Nilanjan Ghosh with help of Dipayan Jash and Akram Ali, all third-year students at MCKV Institute of Engineering (MCKIVE), college officials said Tuesday.

The device can bring down the cost for an hour’s continuous oxygen supply from Rs.50 to Rs.17, said Ghosh.

CPI to boycott Presidential elections over Telangana issue

Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Wednesday said that the CPI would not extend support to anybody in the Presidential elections scheduled to be held in July.

Talking to media persons, Narayana stated that the party would not take part in the elections in protest against the delay in the formation of Telangana State. He accused the UPA’s Presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee of being responsible for delaying the statehood to the region.

IITs retain hold on JEE examination

The human resource development ministry and IIT Council Wednesday arrived at a consensus over the entrance exam pattern for admission to the prestigious engineering institutes with an agreement on a new entrance test formula proposed by the IITs.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of the IIT Council convened in the capital to discuss the proposed common entrance test after opposition from some of the IITs. The meeting was attended by directors of all IITs.

School-on-wheels launched in Delhi

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) Wednesday launched a mobile learning centre for slum children in Delhi. The school-on-wheels was flagged off by east Delhi Mayor Annapoorna Mishra.

Launched by NGO ‘Save the Children’, in collaboration with Aviva Life Insurance Company, the centre comes equipped with trainers, teachers and counsellors. The Mobile Learning Centre (MLC) will work with underprivileged children in slum clusters in and around east Delhi’s Subhash Nagar.
