Bharati allowed to meet Jagan

Jagan’s wife Bharati was allowed to meet her husband during lunch hour. She was with him during the one-hour break he was given by the CBI authorities. Soon after the break, Jagan had to retreat into the questioning room, while Bharati had returned home. Bharati has been looking after the business activities of Jagan, including running of the Sakshi newspaper while Jagan’s mother Vijayamma and sister Sharmila are campaigning for the party.

No Twitter ban for Russia at Euros

Russia’s coach Dick Advocaat said Sunday he will not follow his Spanish counterpart Vicente del Bosque and forbid his players fom using social networking site Twitter during Euro 2012.

On Saturday several Spanish footballers, including Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Pique and Victor Valdes informed their followers that they won’t be allowed to post anything while their teams remain in the tournament.

Asked if he is weighing up the same measures for his team, Advocaat said “No, because everybody is responsible for the things they write,” he said.

Doctor’s wife murdered for gold in city

Unidentified robbers struck terror in the city on Sunday when they killed a woman for her gold.

According to police, robbers raided the house of a doctor in Padmanabha Nagar colony under Langar House police limits and killed Raja Kumari, wife of Dr Nageswara Rao for gold. They criminals decamped with 10 tolas of gold after killing the lady.

Harassed for dowry, woman kills self, son in Rajasthan

A woman threw herself and her five-year-old son before a moving train in Rajasthan’s Sikar district Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. on the railway tracks near Palsana railway station in the district, some 150 km from Jaipur.

The bodies of the woman and her son were found in a mutilated condition on the railway tracks in the morning. Police officials said that the woman was allegedly depressed over repeated dowry demands from her in-laws. They added that a case had been registered against the woman’s in-laws, including her husband for dowry harassment.

Jagan will come out and become CM: Sharmila

YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila has assured the people that he would surely come out of the jail and become the Chief Minister.

Sharmila campaigned in the district along with her mother on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, she appealed to the people to vote for the YSR Congress. She said that a vote for the party would mean reposing of confidence in the integrity of her brother and expressing their wish for him to become the Chief Minister.

I will spend my MPLAD funds in Tirupati: Chiranjeevi

Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader Chiranjeevi has said that he would spend his MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) Funds in Tirupati. He said this while campaigning in Jeevakona, Thimminayudupalem, Auto Nagar and other areas of the Tirupati constituency and held road shows.

Speaking on the occasion, he said he would always be grateful to the people of Tirupati who gave him birth in politics. He said that under the facility he had to adopt a district and develop it as an MP, he had adopted Chittoor district. He said he would be a permanent member of Tirupati and develop the area.

Congress leaders slam Vijayamma for defending Jagan

Several Congress leaders today lashed out at YSRCP honorary president and Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayamma for stating that her son YSRCP Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was not involved in any irregularity and no investments flowed into Jagan’s companies illegally.

ED-CET on June 8

25 killed in Pakistan bus accident

At least 25 members of a wedding party died in Pakistan early Monday when their bus fell into a deep ravine, police said.

The accident took place in Nurh area of Kahuta town, some 30 km from here. Over 60 others were injured, Xinhua reported.

Rawalpindi district administrator Saqib Zafar said the driver lost control of the bus due to over speeding. He was arrested after he jumped out of the vehicle.

The victims were on its way to Chakwal after attending a wedding ceremony in Kahuta.

At least seven women and four children were among the dead, witnesses said.

Nalsar extends last date

Last date for submission of application forms for NALSAR University’s Proximate Education Courses of Post Graduate Diplomas has been extended to June 15.

Balladeer’ Gaddar has appealed to anti-corruption activists to launch agitation from village to Delhi level to curb corruption in the society.

YSRCP candidate in Allagadda, Shobha Nagi Reddy has alleged that the Congress MP Chiranjeevi had cheated 70 lakh voters by merging his erstwhile PRP into the Congress party for sake of power and posts.

APCC official spokesperson Dr N Thulasi Reddy has said that YSRCP Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s family itself was acting vindictively towards the Congress.

AP discoms to procure 48 MU till May next

Anticipating the power shortages in the State, AP Discoms have floated tender for procuring 2000 MW (48 MU) of power from June 2012 to May 2013. The shortages are going up to 3900 MW (93 MU/ day) during the peak season.

Various power generators located within and outside AP participated in the tender. The major power generators in AP quoted their rates up to Rs 6.79 per unit for a total of 350 MW (8.4 MU). The generators located outside AP have quoted their rates between Rs 5.75 to Rs 7.39 per unit for a total of around 1125 MW ( 27 MU).

Jagan deserves no mercy, says Azad

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said that Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy deserves no mercy as he indulged in corruption.

Addressing an by-elections meeting at Municipal Grounds here, Azad said that the on-going CBI probe against Jaganmohan Reddy was initiated by the judiciary and therefore, it was wrong to blame the Congress party or the government for the same. “We have great respect for the departed soul (YSR) and Mrs YSR (Vijayamma). But their son does not deserve any mercy,” Azad said.

Jagan economic offences crossed all limits, alleges Purandeswari

Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari on Sunday said that Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy himself was responsible for the situation that he is facing now.

Talking to reporters while participating in the by-elections campaign in Ramchandrapuram assembly constituency of East Godavari district, Purandeswari said that Jagan was facing serious charges of economic offences and his release from the jail appears difficult. He said several industrialists, bureaucrats and political leaders have been facing problems due to the crimes committed by Jaganmohan Reddy.

Bollywood director Rohit Shetty of “Singham” fame says he is not interested in talking about his hard work. “I have been looked down upon by my colleagues and media and I don’t talk about my hard work.”

He was speaking Sunday during a panel discussion organised by students of Subhash Ghai’s film school Whistling Woods International in Mumbai.

The discussion was held on the second day of a film festival organised by the students to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema.
