Anti – Dowry campaign kicks off in Jeddah

Over 25 founder members of the Anti-dowry campaign established by the Socio Reforms Society, Jeddah Chapter pledged never to attend any dinner or dowry ridden marriage where the expenses are imposed on the bride’s parents. The leading members included Dr. Haroon Sayeed, Saleem Farooqui, Abdul Qader Warangali, Md. Abbas Khan, Engr. Sayeeduddin President SIBN, Abdul Razzaq, Sikender Ali singer and Dilshad Ahmed.

Members of various social and educational organizations extended full support to the campaign.

King of Saudi Arabia, Shah Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has given special direction to ministry of Hajj and Islamic affairs Saudi Arabia, to provide excellent services to the pilgrims arriving from differing parts of the world. Urdu calligraphy classes conclude, competition & prize distribution held

The Urdu calligraphy classes which were being run by Siasat daily for the past 40 days were concluded yesterday at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall.

Innumerable boys, girls and elderly persons benefitted from the classes run under the supervision of renowned calligrapher Nayeem Sabiri.

Competition was held on the conclusion in which 1st prize for Urdu calligraphy 5000 rupees, 2nd prize 3000 rupees and 3rd prize 2000 were given.

Vidya-Farhan come together for ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’

Pritish Nandy’s next home production ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’, a sequel to the 2006 romantic film, ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’ will see the fresh and unusual pairing of Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar.

The earlier film starring Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat was a romantic comedy, and portrayed the intricacies of a modern relationship while the sequel featuring Vidya and Farhan, will look at how their story progresses after they get married.

As YSR separated child and mother, Vijayamma got separated from Jagan: TDP

TDP senior leader YV Babu Rajendra Prasad has described that a farmer considers earth as his mother and alleged that late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had separated “this child from his mother” by giving away his lands to the rich in the name of Special Economic Zones. It was only because of this sin that Vijayamma got separated from her son, he added.

A young girl molested

(Siasat News) A young girl (16 years) residing at Hashmathpet, Secunderabad was molested by her neighbour (45) year. The culprit tried to molest her but due to her raising hue and cry, she escaped his plans. The police is trying to save one Mr. Khasim (45 years) by saying that it is an ordinary case. Doubts are being raised against the attitude of the police.

Zafar Pahelwan gets bail

(Siasat News) Metropolitan sessions Judge of Nampally Criminal Court granted bail to Hamza Bin Omer Alias Zafar Pahelwan and his nephew Moosa Bin Abdullah in the murder case of rowdysheeter Ahmed Ali Khan alias Ilyas. In his order, the magistrate ordered to deposit Rs. 10,000 (twice) and record his attendance every alternate day at Kanchanbagh police station and affix his signature.

I miss acting: Jugal Hansraj

He is best remembered as the adorable boy from ‘Masoom’ and actor Jugal Hansraj, who has shifted gears from acting to direction, says he desperately wants to make a comeback on-screen.

Ponnala is not a criminal: Galla

Mines & Geology Minister Galla Aruna Kumari has said that no one becomes a criminal simply because he was served a notice.

Turkey to build 23 nuclear power units

Turkey is determined to have its own nuclear power plant and aims to build at least 23 nuclear units by the year 2023, a minister has said.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said the ambitious plan involves establishing nuclear power plants in three regions of the country, Xinhua reported.

“We are a country without a nuclear power plant. However, we are determined to have nuclear power plants,” he said.

He said the number of nuclear power plants in the world exceeded 440, and that while nuclear power plants involve risks, they also offered many opportunities.

Air Force version of ‘Akash’ missile test fired

India on Wednesday successfully test fired its indigenously developed surface-to-air ‘Akash’ missile of Air Force version from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur near here, the fifth trial of the anti-aircraft system in the last fortnight.

“The Air Force version of Akash missile was test-fired from the ITR. The trial was successful and met all the mission objectives,” a senior defence official said.

The anti-aircraft missile, with a strike range of 25 km and capable of carrying warhead of 60 kg, was test fired from a mobile launcher at launch complex-III of the ITR.

Hazare targets PM over coal blocks auction issue

Taking pot shots at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yet again, social activist Anna Hazare criticised him over the auction of coal blocks during the period he held the coal portfolio.

Hazare said there was “room for suspicion” and that he does think the prime minister to be a clean and honest man who has to function under “remote control.”

ABVP BID to storm RR collectorate

Akhila Bharat Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has launched agitation demanding that the State government implement the Right to Education Act in the State.

“India is a global power, and they are meeting their responsibilities and we welcome that,” Department of Defence spokesman Captain John Kirby told reporters Tuesday discounting reports that the US wanted India to step up its role in Afghanistan.
