Over 42 per cent clears OU Degree exams

Over 42 per cent of the students has cleared the third year examination of BA, B Com and B Sc conducted by the Osmania University.

Talking to media persons after releasing the results of annual examinations at Senate Hall in the Administrative Building in Osmania University premises on Wednesday, OU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Satyanarayana informed that of 62,103 students who appeared for the third year exams, 26,626 students have passed taking the pass percentage to 42.87.

DA case: CBI grills Jagan for 4th consecutive day

CBI on Wednesday quizzed YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy in an alleged disproportionate assets case for the fourth day and questioned Congress MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy in the same case for the second day.

AP gets additional 916 seats for Haj – 2012

The Haj Committee of India has allotted 916 additional seats for Haj 2012 for Andhra Pradesh.

According to Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee chairman Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed, the additional seats would be allotted to the intending pilgrims in the Waiting List. He said that the Haj Committee of India would do the allocation as per the General Wait List (GWL) number.

Woman gets $900,000 after man gives her STD

A 49-year-old American woman has been awarded $900,000 by a court after a 69-year-old retiree had sex with her and then confessed to having the sexually transmitted disease (STD) herpes.

According to Daily Mail, a jury heard that in May 2010 the two met for their fourth date where, after an evening over wine and smoking marijuana, the couple had sex.

Later, the man told her he had STD.

The woman said she took anti-viral medication but it caused large chunks of her hair to fall out and made her weight go up by 30 pounds.

Labourer held for killing wife

A 35-year-old labourer here has been arrested on charges of murdering his wife who had allegedly developed illicit relations, police said Wednesday.

Jaleshwar Majhi of Bihar was caught from west Delhi’s Dwarka area Tuesday for the May 30 killing.

Majhi, who absconded after the murder, was trapped when he came to his employer to collect his money, Additional Commissioner of Police Anil Kumar Ojha said.

Majhi married the victim in 1997 but ended the relationship five years ago. In 2010, he married her a second time, and they had a baby girl last year, Ojha said.

High court refuses to stay “Shanghai” release

The Delhi High Court Wednesday dismissed a plea seeking stay of the June 8 release of Bollywood film “Shanghai”, saying that there was nothing insulting in its song “Bharat Mata ki jai”.

A division bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rajiv Shakdher said: “We do not find anything objectionable in the said song. In a democracy, every person has a right to voice his views and opinions… the same right to speech and expression cannot be curtailed except under some circumstances.”

Indian envoy to UAE meets Ras Al Khaimah ruler

India’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) M.K. Lokesh Wednesday met the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi.

During the meeting at the Dheit Palace, the Sheikh and the Indian ambassador reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and stressed the need to bolster ties.

A number of senior state officials also attended the meeting.

The Indian community in the UAE, numbering 1.75 million, constitutes 30 percent of the total population. It is the largest expatriate community in the country.
