Prague to host 2015 European athletics indoor championships

Prague will host the 33rd European Athletics Indoor Championships in 20015.

“We are very pleased to confirm that Prague will be the hosts of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2015,” European Athletics President Hansjorg Wirz was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

Istanbul was the only other city to have presented its candidacy beside the Czech Athletics Federation.

Prague hosted the 1967 European Indoor Games, the precursor to the European Athletics Indoor Championships, and the 1978 European Athletics Championships.

Hillary to ask India to further cut oil imports from Iran

Pressing India to further reduce oil imports from sanctions-hit Iran tops the agenda of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who flew into Kolkata today at the start of a three-day visit to India.

The US has been urging India and other countries to slash oil imports from Iran aimed at stepping up pressure on Tehran to comply with international demands over its nuclear programme.

India, which imports 80% of its crude oil and relies on Tehran for 12% of those imports, has said it needed to
continue to buy Iranian oil to meet its domestic requirements.

Round Table India celebrates golden jubilee; construction of 107 schools proposed

A press conference was organized by Round Table India at Hotel Novotel at Shamsabad. Mr. Ashvini Kumar president Round Table India said Round Table India was started on 6th May 1962, since then efforts are on for its progress. Round Table India carries on its activities in 52 countries.

On the golden jubilee celebration in India, 107 schools are being constructed which will contain 467 classrooms and nearly 35 thousand students will benefit out of it.

During the past 12 years, 4372 classrooms were constructed in 1630 schools with an expenditure of Rs. 110 crore.

Pradesh Congress Committee has welcomed the move of selecting 4 women candidates including a Muslim woman for forthcoming elections of 18 assembly constituencies of the state and alleged that TDP who claims to be working for welfare and prosperity of women has not given the ticket to a single woman.

Molesters mow down UP teacher after rebuff

A 28- YEAR- OLD junior high school teacher was allegedly mowed down by hooligans after their effort to molest her ended in failure.

The incident took place in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday night and brings to spotlight the state’s lawlessness.

The deceased, Reeti Sharma, was returning to her rented accommodation when the incident took place.

Eyewitnesses said five to six youth, travelling in a Maruti van, blocked her way and after passing some lewd comments, tried to pull her inside the van.

Kenya flash floods toll rises to 50

Kenya’s flash floods have left at least 50 people as dead and displaced thousands of others in this east African nation, a humanitarian agency has said.

The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) spokesperson Nelly Muluka said four people were swept away by flood waters near Rongai town Friday night, Xinhua reported Sunday.

According to Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), the number of fatalities will continue to rise due to heavy rains that have led to flash floods in several parts of the country.

Nepal flood toll reaches 15: Reports

As many as 15 people have been killed and many are still missing following an avalanche in Nepal’s Annapurna range which triggered a massive flood in the Seti river Saturday, local media reports said.

The flood caused massive destruction to human settlements around the area in Kaski district. With Saturday being a holiday in the country, many people were enjoying their leisure time when the flood created havoc.

According to reports Sunday, the number of missing people is estimated to be over 30 which include three Russians, Xinhua reported.

Muslim woman wins $5 million verdict from AT&T for discrimination

A Kansas City woman who converted from Christianity to Islam has been awarded $5 million in punitive damages by a jury who found the telecommunications giant AT&T created a “hostile work environment” after her conversion, according to a judge’s order issued Friday.

Susann Bashir, a 41-year-old married mother, sued AT&T unit Southwestern Bell for what she said was a pattern of offensive and discriminatory conduct by her supervisors that began when she converted to Islam in 2005, six years after she started working for the company as a network technician.

World Allergy Congress in Hyderabad
