Petrol bomb blast kills 3

At least three people, including a woman, were killed on Monday in a powerful petrol bomb blast in the Nepali capital, media reports said.

More than six people were injured — five of them critically, Xinhua reported.

Local media reports said the blast took place around 1 pm outside the gate of the Nepal Oil Corporation’s central office in Babarmahal area, close to the country’s seat of government Singhadurbar.

The Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha-Bishwokranti (SJMM), an ethnic outfit, has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Saudi Islamic scholar’s issued a fatwa to kill Assad

A well known Saudi Islamic scholar Sheikh Ayedh Al Qarni issued a fatwa on Sunday to kill Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

Al Qarni stressed in his fatwa that killing Bashar Al Assad is more important than killing Israelis, reported ‘Al Bayan’.

Meanwhile, Saudi-based ‘Sabq’ reported that Al Qarni, in an interview on Al Arabia Channel, urged Syrian people to take up arms against Bashar Al Assad’s regime.

In his fatwa, Al Qarni said that minorities and all other communities in Syria must enjoy freedom and security after Assad era.

Bank unions call strike on Feb 28

As many as seven employees’ unions of banks, 11 central trade unions and 5,000 smaller unions have given a call for strike on Tuesday.

The striking trade unions include the Left labour arms CITU, AITUC, UTUC and AIUTUC, and Congress’ INTUC, besides BMS, HMS, TUCI and NLO who have joined forces in support of a 10-point charter of demands including protest against rising prices, disinvestment of profit-making PSUs and violation of labour.

As per reports, senior union leaders have said that the strike will be near-total in Assam, Kerala, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Bihar.

Israel says India hushed up Iran hand

Indian intelligence agencies have considerable evidence of Iran’s involvement in the February 13 attack on an Israeli diplomat but are not releasing it in a bid to avoid public confrontation with Tehran, a top Israeli security official claimed.

The official told Ha’aretz that the Indian agencies are close to fully solving the case but they are not saying so publicly.

However, they have not concealed the information in their possession in quiet contacts with Israel and the US, the official was quoted as saying.
