Hyderabad, February 3: Nearly 3 months ago from now, Siasat daily had brought to the fore 15 uninhabited ancient historical Qutub Shahi mosques. By the grace of Almighty Allah on November 25, 2011 some religious spirited Muslim youth of Gulshan colony, seven tombs rehabilitated an uninhabited mosque by offering Friday prayers.

Flesh trade has its first client casualties

Mumbai, February 03: Intensifying the fight against prostitution, the social service branch of the Mumbai police have arrested two men, including a South Mumbai-based diamond trader, for allegedly paying money for sex. This is the first time the police is targeting the clients as well as the pimps involved.

Although the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) has been in force since 1986, clients were not apprehended; instead they were made witnesses against the pimps and middlemen forcing women into prostitution.

Waqf board team measures Masjid Qutub Shahi Balapur land for reconstruction

Hyderabad, February 3: Following severe protest by the Muslims including Deccan Waqf Properties Protection Society against the demolition of Masjid Qutub Shahi and demand for its reconstruction on its original place, a team of waqf board authorities on the direction of Mr. Khusro Pasha Biabani Chairman Waqf Board, reached Masjid Qutub Shahi Balapur.

Osman Alhajari and local Muslims acknowledged the waqf board team regarding the boundaries of demolished mosque so that the mosque can be constructed at the same place.

Mumbai, February 03: A sub-inspector attached to Pydhonie police station has been caught on camera while allegedly making a demand of Rs 25,000 from a Dongri-based doctor in exchange for not framing him in a counterfeit currency case. In his complaint to the police commissioner, Dr Fayzan Khan has accused the cop, Suddam Sanab, of intimidating him by saying that if he refused to pay him the bribe amount he would brand him a terrorist, by naming him in a fake currency racket involving another terrorist.

6,000-year-old Saudi treasures at Berlin

Berlin, February 03: A group of prominent politicians, intellectuals, historians and scientists has participated in the inauguration of “Roads of Arabia” at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. The exhibit includes more than 400 rare antiquities collected from the Arabian Peninsula and was held under the hospices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, and the German president.

Dacoits gang arrested

Hyderabad, February 3 (Siasat News): Charminar police has unearthed a notorious two-member dacoit gang and seized Rs. 31,000 cash, three cell phones and a Hero Honda motorcycle from their possession estimated to Rs. 65,000.

This was disclosed by ACP Charminar Mr. Ram Mohan in a press conference. He said that Njamuddin alias Mujju, 27, resident of Al-Juber colony, Chandrayangutta and Feroz, 19, resident of Farooq Nagar, Falaknuma are arrested.

Indian-American student triggers Harvard probe

Washington, Febuary 03: A complaint from an Indian-American student who was near the top of his high school class but was rejected by both Harvard and Princeton universities has triggered an investigation by the US Education Department.

The unnamed Indian-American student in California complained that the two universities discriminate against Asian-Americans in undergraduate admissions, according to a media Bloomberg report.

According to the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights the complaint was received Aug 22 and the allegations “accepted for investigation” Jan 11.

Baby Falak off ventilator,unconscious

New Delhi, Febuary 03:Two-year-old Falak, who has been battling for life after being battered and beaten, has been taken off the ventilator though she continues to be critical and is still unconscious, doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said Friday.

“Her condition has shown slight improvement. We took her off the ventilator Friday morning,” Deepak Agrawal, associate professor of neurosurgery at the AIIMS trauma centre, told IANS.

“Her blood parameters are showing that the infection might be responding to the drugs,” he added.

Moscow, February 03: A city legislature in a central Russian town has approved a bill that will penalise people with fines for promoting homosexuality.

The bill, pushed by the pro-Kremlin United Russia party, was backed by 28 out of 35 deputies in Kostroma town’s legislature.

A similar ban is already in place in the southern Astrakhan and central Ryazan regions but it was shelved in St. Petersburg, Russia’s second city, last November after MPs failed to agree on its “legal definitions”.

Baby Falak taken off ventilator

New Delhi, February 03: Two-year-old Falak, who has been fighting for life at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), was taken off ventilator on Friday morning. Doctors at AIIMS said that Falak was stable but still critical.

Concerns remained on the spread of infection in her brain fluids. Doctors have claimed this could be the biggest factor in saving her life.

Meanwhile, on the investigation front, a fourth person, a woman named Aarti, was arrested for pushing the 15-year-old, who got Falak to AIIMS, into prostitution.

Yemenis protest Saleh presence in US

New York, February 03: Activists protested on Thursday outside the luxury New York hotel where they believe Yemen’s embattled President Ali Abdullah Saleh is staying while seeking medical treatment.

The Yemeni leader’s whereabouts have not been confirmed since he arrived in the United States Saturday on a chartered flight. US authorities let him in to receive treatment for wounds suffered in an assassination attempt.

Protesters and Yemeni opposition supporters say they have firm information that Saleh is staying at the Ritz-Carlton, a grand hotel overlooking Central Park in Manhattan.

Falak fights back, taken off ventilator

New Delhi, February 03: Two-year-old Falak, who has been battling for life at the AIIMS here, has shown signs of improvement and taken off ventilator on Friday.

Doctors said if she responds positively for another few days, they will be able to conduct another life saving surgery on her.

“She was put off ventilator at 6 am. After checking her blood parameters we can say that her septicaemia problem might be responding positively to the antibiotics. But she continues to remain critical and stable,” neurosurgeon Dr Deeepak Agarwal said.

SC cancels 122 telecom licences

New Delhi, February 03: In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled all 122 2G telecom licences issued during the tenure of former telecom minister A Raja in 2008.

An apex court bench comprising of Justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly held that 122 licences for 2G spectrum were granted in an “arbitrary and unconstitutional manner”.

Radia tapes: SC asks Centre to examine Tata’s plea

New Delhi, February 03: The Supreme Court on Thursday permitted industrialist Ratan Tata to approach the Centre for disclosure of certain contents of the confidential report placed before it on Niira Radia tapes relating to secret conversations of politicians, bureaucrats and media personnel.

A bench of justices G.S. Singhvi and S. J. Mukhopadhyaya, which allowed the submission of counsel Mukul Rohtagi for the Tatas, asked the Centre to pass an appropriate order as to whether it can disclose the contents or was seeking immunity from disclosure of the information.

Photo Identity proof must to travel in AC Coaches from Feb-15

Hyderabad, February 03:From February 15, passengers traveling in AC First Class, AC II Tier, AC III Tier, AC Char Car and executive classes will have to compulsorily carry any o­ne of the prescribed proofs of photo Identity in original during the journey.

According to an SCR press release here today, the passengers of AC classes need to produce proof of identities as when required failing which the passengers booked o­n that ticket will be treated as without ticket and charged accordingly.
