Milad celebrated with gaiety in Hyderabad

Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, was celebrated Sunday with gaiety and fervor in Hyderabad and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Meetings, rallies, feeding of the poor, blood donation camps and mahafil-e-milads or special gatherings in praise of the Prophet were held to mark the occasion.

Police had made elaborate security arrangements, especially in the old city of Hyderabad, to maintain law and order. Security personnel were deployed around the places of worship and public places.

Muslims donates land for Temple,Hindus for Mazar

Patna,February 05: In a shining example of communal harmony in India, Muslims have helped build a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Durga in Bihar’s Gaya district, not just by making donations but also by supervising its construction.

“Muslims have not only donated money for temple construction, they have been involved in it like us,” said Suresh Prasad about the shrine at Loco Colony near the railway station in Gaya town, about 100 km from here.

The temple was opened for prayers and worship last week.

Yuvraj suffering from Cancer

New Delhi,February 05 :The 30-year-old left-hander has been in US since last month being treated for what was earlier claimed to be a tumour in the lungs by his family.

But it has now been diagnosed as malignant and Yuvraj is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the Cancer Research Institute in Boston.

Bangalore,February 05 :The auction of eight franchisees for players in the fifth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) concluded here in Bangalore with the teams spending around $11 million (around Rs 54 crore) for buying 25 players. The eight teams had a total of around $16.6 million to spend with 144 players to be auctioned including eight Indian players.

Thief beaten up

Hyderabad, February 5: A man named Ramesh resident of Gandhinagar stole cell phone and some jewellery from a house during marriage functions. The thief came in the house as a family member and committed theft. He sold the cell phone at a shop.

Again he arrived at the house to commit theft of some jewellery during which he was caught.

He has been handed over to the police after good beating.

Dowry demand drives woman to suicide

Nizamabad, February 5: A woman committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan at her residence. The incident occurred at V town area of Nizamabad.

According to details Mamta got married to Rajkumar resident of Sainagar, Nizamabad one and a half year ago. Her in-laws were demanding 2 lakh rupees after marriage.

Unable to bear the harassment of her husband, father and mother in law she hanged herself to the ceiling fan and committed suicide.

Hyderabad, February 05: As if installing statues of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was not enough, temples are now being constructed in memory of the former Andhra Pradesh chief minister in the state.

Backed by YSR Congress party president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, one such temple is coming up at Rajagopalapuram village in Visakhapatnam district. Named Rajasekhara Reddy Alayam ( Rajasekhara Reddy temple), it is being constructed by local YSR Congress party leaders.

Hundreds working in Saudi with fake degrees

Riyadh, February 05: Following reports about fake certificate-making rackets spreading in Saudi society, authorities have reiterated their determination to crack down on holders of fake certificates.

There were about 1,300 citizens and foreigners caught with fake certificates in the Kingdom and they managed to obtain these after paying a total of SR500 million, Al-Sharq local daily reported Saturday quoting informed sources.

Saudi women earning thousands staying at home

Riyadh, February 05: An employment company and a software firm have developed a novel program which allows Saudi women to earn a living from their computers at home.

Four Saudi women were employed as call center operators from their homes for SR4,000 a month recently, said Khaled Al-Khudair, founder of glowork.net a jobs site for women in the Kingdom.

The program aims to create 30,000 jobs in three years.

Al-Khudair told Al-Watan Arabic daily that some private-sector companies want to employ more women who work from their homes.

Man rapes mother of boy who eloped with daughter

Ahmedabad, February 05: In a horrific incident, a man in the Indian city of Ahmedabad allegedly kidnapped and subsequently raped the mother and aunt of a 22-year-old boy who took off with his 20-year-old daughter.

The boy’s family members had approached the police when they found their boy missing. Meanwhile, the boy’s mother and aunt had got possible clues about the eloped couple’s whereabouts, reports The Times of India. When they followed on the couple’s trails, they were in turn followed by the girls’d father and some of his hired goons.

TRIPLE TALAQ to be ban in India

New Delhi, February 05: Triple talaq in one sitting – the process of divorce by which the man says “talaq” thrice, and polygamy, will soon be banned in India if Parliament amends the Muslim Personal Law as per the revolutionary draft suggested by the National Consultation on Codification.

The draft also makes registration of Muslim marriages with the state governments mandatory and minimum age of bride will be made 18 and that for boys 21.

Israel no match for Iran military might

Tehran, February 05: A senior political analyst condemns Israel’s “apartheid” policies in the occupied Palestine territories and says Tel Aviv will never be able to match Iran’s military might and capabilities, Press TV reports.

“…the reality on the ground is that Iran is a very powerful country and its response [to a military attack] will be severe and punishing and the Israelis are no match for the Iranians,” Tehran University Professor Mohammad Marandi told Press TV in an exclusive interview on Friday.

Urdu SGT posts to be de-reserved

Hyderabad, February 5: Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal, on Friday, February 3 issued orders to fill the reserved posts of 2006 & 2008 with selected candidates of DSC 2006 & 2008 by de-reserving them. The order also directed not to notify the posts for DSC 2012.

State president, Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Association (APTA), Syed Shaukat Ali and Hyderabad president, Shaikh Afzal welcomed the orders.

G Bala Rangaiah carried out the proceedings of the case no. OS.10148/2011.

Obama urges Syrian president to stop killings

Washington, February 05: US President Barack Obama has called for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to stop the killings in the country and step aside for a democratic transition in the Middle East nation.

Obama said the Syrian government “murdered” hundreds of Syrian citizens Friday “through shelling and other indiscriminate violence”, and that Syrian forces continued to prevent hundreds of injured civilians from seeking medical help.
