Police rescue two girls from brothel

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): The West Zone team of Commissioner’s Task Force has rescued two girls after raiding a brothel at an apartment in Humayun Nagar.

According to police, the women organizer started the brothel house on the pretext of running Herbal Weight Loss treatment clinic in a rented apartment. She hired two girls from a friend and used to pay Rs 500 to them for each customer. She used to charge Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 to known customers.

However, on a tip off police raided the Al Asgar Apartments at First Lancer and arrested the organizer while rescuing two sex workers.

Revenue Sadassus to be an annual affair

Visakhapatnam, January 25 (INN): Chief Commissioner of Land Administration J Satyanarayana on Tuesday stated that the government will conduct Revenue Sadassus each year to address the land disputes.

Participating as chief guest in the Land Sadassu held at Ayyanapalem in Sabbavaram mandal in the district, Satyanarayana stated that the government has decided to organize Revenue Sadassus after the completion of Sankranthi festival from next year. Unlike this year, the government will conduct Sadassus for one month from the next year instead of two months, he stated.

Tribunal posts hearing on Group-I exams to Feb 13

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): The AP Administrative Tribunal on Tuesday posted the hearing to February 13 on petitions filed by some Group-1 aspirants that there were blatant errors in the English translation of the Group-1 papers.

After hearing the arguments of Group I aspirants, who attempted in Telugu medium, the tribunal asked the APPSC if it has any objections for producing the examination papers in the court.

Jumbling system for inter-students deferred

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): Giving a major relief to thousands of intermediate students, the State Government on Tuesday deferred the decision to introduce jumbling system for one more year.

According to Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathy, the government has taken this decision as many private college managements have been opposing the system arguing that exposing students to new laboratories would hit the marks of students as facilities in majority of colleges were not up to the mark.

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): Assembly Deputy Speaker Mallu Batti Vikramarka on Tuesday described the disfiguring of Dr B R Ambedkar’s statues in Amalapuram as an assault on the Indian Constitution.

Kaka slams CM for Amalapuram incident

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): Senior Congress leader G Venkatswamy on Tuesday held State Government responsible for the desecration of Dr B R Ambedkar’s statues in Amalapuram of East Godavari district.

Condemning the incident, Venkatswamy demanded constitution of a high level committee to probe into the incident and also to suggest measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur. High Court sets aside Narsa Reddy election as MLC

Hyderabad, January 25 (INN): A division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday set aside the election of Telugu Desam MLC Narsa Reddy from the local bodies’ constituency of Nizamabad district.

The bench while giving its verdict declared the election of Narsa Reddy as invalid and declared Venkat Rami Reddy of Congress candidate as elected by a margin of two votes.

Two US bases hit in Afghanistan

Kabul, January 25: The Taliban have claimed they have targeted two US military bases in the southeastern province of Khost, causing a large number of casualties.

The militant group announced they attacked the bases with rockets on Tuesday.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said eight rockets hit the American military bases.

According to Afghan local officials, the attacks took place in Sabari district of Khost but there are no reports of casualties.

An exasperated Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy told a gathering during the Odarpu Yatra in Gurajara town that the Congress and the Telugu Desam had hatched a conspiracy to harass him and his family members. Instead of foisting cases and harassing him, it was better to just shoot him, he said, expressing concern over the deteriorating ethics in politics in the state.

Man jailed for killing mother for concert tickets

London, January 24: A Chicago resident has been jailed for 40 years for brutally killing his elderly mother because she refused to buy him tickets for a concert.

The body of 39-year-old Robert Lyons’ mother Linda Bolek, 61, was found in their apartment in March 2008, the Sun reported.

Lyons, found guilty of first-degree murder in September 2011 after a six-day trial, beat his mother on the head with a Cognac bottle and stabbed her nine times in the back with two knives.

CBI arrests Jagan’s relative in Emaar case

Hyderabad, January 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday arrested Sunil Reddy, a relative of YSR Congress party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, in the Emaar case.

After day-long investigations, the investigating agency Tuesday night announced his arrest. CBI Joint Director V.V. Lakshminarayana told reporters that he would be produced in the court Wednesday.

UP, Bihar centre of terrorism: Raj Thackeray

Mumbai, January 24: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday once again hit out at North Indians, describing Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as “centre of terrorism“.

A day after Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad claimed to have cracked the July 13, 2011 Mumbai blasts case and arrested two suspects, Thackeray said terrorists first receive training in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and then attack Mumbai.

Don’t link Bihar with 13/7 terrorists: Nitish Kumar

Patna, January 24: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday reacted strongly to the Maharashtra Police linking Bihar with the terrorists involved in the 13/7 Mumbai serial blasts, saying it was “highly objectionable” to link any state or place with criminals.

“It is wrong to link Bihar with terrorists involved in the 13/7 blasts in Mumbai. Any place or state has nothing to do with the crimes committed by some people,” Nitish Kumar told newspersons here Tuesday.

“In this case Bihar was linked with terrorists involved in 13/7 serial blasts in Mumbai. It is not proper,” Kumar said.

Amit Shah seeks Supreme Court nod to stay in Gujarat

New Delhi, January 24: Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah Tuesday sought the permission of the Supreme Court to “enter, stay and function” in the state, from where he has been barred since Oct 30, 2010 by an apex court order.

Shah sought modification of the order which, while declining to suspend the bail granted by the Gujarat High Court, directed him to stay away from the territorial limits of the state.

Shah in his petition said that the entire case against him was “fabricated solely on political considerations”.
