EU3 ready for ‘serious’ talks with Iran
Tehran, January 25: France, Britain and Germany have indicated their willingness to negotiate with Iran over the country’s peaceful nuclear program “if Tehran is ready for serious talks.”
The statement by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron came on Monday, a few hours after the European Union members imposed sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank and an embargo on the country’s oil, Reuters reported.
Cong, TDP have tacit understanding to target me: Jagan
Guntur, January 25: Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy alleged today that Congress and TDP are indulging in dirty politics to target him, “Cruel politics is going on, that only two parties should exist – TDP and Congress. A third party should not be there and to make it happen (TDP chief) Chandrababu Naidu and Congress elders have a tacit understanding,” he said during his ongoing ‘odarpu yatra’ (tour for consoling) in Guntur district.
Mentally ill father throws five-month-old in drain
New Delhi, January 25: A five-month-old girl drowned after she was thrown into a drain by her father in Swaroop Nagar, Northwest Delhi, on Monday night.
Police said the father was suffering from a mental illness and was alone at home with his daughter at the time of the incident. His wife and mother had gone to the market to buy vegetables.
The man’s brother informed police about the incident. He told police that his brother took the infant to a drain, around 500 metres from their Sant Nagar house, and threw her in.
Car bombs kill 14 in Baghdad, 70 hurt
Baghdad, January 25: A wave of car bombings Tuesday hit the Iraq capital, killing 14 people and wounding more than 70 as violence surges in the country amid an escalating political crisis a month after the US military withdrawal.
Sadhvi Pragya innocent :Mother
Mubai, January 25: Mother of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, prime accused in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case, today said that her daughter had been “falsely implicated” and was “innocent”.
“My daughter cannot even kill a worm and this is not what is taught to her. She cannot not commit any such act,” Sarla Devi, who came to meet her daughter at the women’s jail in Byculla here, told reporters.
“The Congress government has put her in jail. Why was my daughter subjected to such hardships?,” she asked.
Woman on toilet seat for 902 days
In a bizarre incident, a 58-year-old Chinese woman refused to leave her toilet for two-and-a-half years.
According to a report published in the Daily Mail, Mee Yand Leong sat down on the bowl in her bathroom on March 25, 2009 and then ate and slept on it for the next 902 days.
Mee said that she felt a force holding her down, the report stated.
Her husband, Kain Ann Ong said that Mee only showered 18 times during her ordeal.
He said she imagined that people will throw stones or spray water on her if she left the seat, report stated.
‘Embracing Islam is the best deal I made in the Kingdom’

Kishan Reddy’s Telangana Yatra Successful
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) Mr. G. Kishan Reddy has started Telangana Purva Yatra to create awareness among the people for a separate Telangana State. People are welcoming the Yatra and it has created a new zeal among the public. Mr. Bandaru Dattatraya, senior leader of BJP told this to pressmen yesterday in Hyderabad. He further told that this yatra has been successful in generating a new confidence among the people for the a separate T-State.

Men and women voters are equal in state
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, State Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Bhanwarlal told that identity cards for 33 lakh voters will be issued. Those who don’t have identity cards, can obtain them from their respective electoral officers. He said that the final list of voters was published on 10th January. After the revision of the voters’ list, the number of voters has been reduced by 12 lakh.
This year the total number of men voters is 2,78,48, 792 whereas that of women is ,2,79,14,616.
No VAT exemption on textiles
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) Govt. was informed that it may not be possible to exempt 5% VAT on textiles in which case Govt. will loose nearly Rs. 2,000 crore income. Tax officials and financial managers apprised the C.M. of the demand of the textile merchants to exempt VAT on textiles.
Moon was sighted yesterday
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) Since the sky was not clear yesterday, the moon could not be sighted in Hyderabad yesterday. Reports from districts were received about the sighting of the moon. Hence the Central Moon sighting committee of Sadar Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan announced that 25th January 2012 (Wednesday) will be the 1st of Rabiul-Awal 1433 A.H.
Shia Ulema also confirmed this information.

Permission to fix Miladun Nabi flags granted
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) Police Commissioner, Mr. A.K. Khan held a meeting with the Muslim Ulema in Purani Haveli office to elicit proposals for the smooth conduct of Prophet Mohammed’s (SAW) birthday celebrations and the rally on the day.
Police Commissioner informed the Muslim religious leaders that permission is given to fix flags of Miladun Nabi (SAW) celebrations in majority concentration area also on the condition that the organizers should remove them after the festival.
‘Jhapad mara, bhadaak se’: Rahul uses the right words
New Delhi, January 25: He used “bhaiyya” all through, and then graduated to “jhapad” and “bhadaak se”. Rahul Gandhi used the local dialect more and more frequently when he toured Bundelkhand, UP, seeking to strike a chord with voters.
His speeches across his 19 public meetings in the region were also full of rhetoric. “In choron ko bhagao” (drive out these thieves), he said on one occasion. Rahul addressed meetings at Lalitpur, Jhansi, Jaluan, Hamirpur, Banda, Mahoba and Chitrakoot during the tour that ended on January 21.
Naqi innocent, tortured: family
New Delhi, January 25: Rubbishing the Mumbai ATS’s claims that Naqi Ahmed was linked to the 13/7 Mumbai blasts, his family on Monday said, “He is innocent and has been made to confess after being tortured.”
Naqi’s brother Taqi Ahmed (24) told reporters here that he and his associates have approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Commission for Minorities, Delhi Police Commissioner and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to obtain help for his “innocent” brother who has been wrongfully framed by the ATS in the serial blasts case which claimed 27 lives.
One lakh Urdu medium students deprived of scholarship application submission
Hyderabad, January 25: (Siasat News) Online submission of pre-matric and post matric scholarship applications has deprived more than one lakh students. Last year, in addition to online, offline submission was also permitted by the Govt. Last year 3.5 lakh applications were received but his year only two lakh candidates have applied for scholarships. In this way many students who could not register their applications online will be deprived of state scholarships.
Sachin not recommended for the Bharat Ratna
New Delhi, January 25: Sachin Tendulkar’s name has not been recommended for the Bharat Ratna award. Sources have said that the BCCI did not send any names, not even Sachin’s. They say that the Sports Ministry has recommended the names of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and mountaineer Tenzing Norgay for the India’s highest civilian honour.
Modi greets Thackeray on his birthday
Mumbai, January 25: Greeting Bal Thackeray on his birthday today, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has described the Shiv Sena chief as a ‘straightforward’ leader.
“Balasaheb is a straightforward leader… He always fought for Hindutva,” Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ quoted Modi as saying.
“A personality like his comes once in a century,” Modi said, on the occasion of Thackeray turning 86 today. “He gave all in the national interest and ruled people’s hearts,” the CM said.
Reject vote bank politics; Vote for empowering: Popular Front asks Muslims
Bhopal, January 25 (Pervez Bari): Popular Front of India, (PFI), discussed the prevailing socio-political scenario at the national level and in different states and chalked out plans to empower Muslims and other marginalised communities across the country.
A Press release issued by the Public Relations Officer said the National General Assembly, (NGA), of PFI was organized at Malabar House in Malappuram District of Kerala on January 21, 22 last wherein the discussion was held.
Street Vendors in M.P. To Get Identity & Credit Cards
Bhopal, January 25 (Pervez Bari): All street vendors in Madhya Pradesh will have Identity Cards in next three months. Specific places will be identified for them to run their business. In order to enable them carry out their business smoothly, a scheme to provide them loan on lower interest rate will be chalked out soon. Besides, they will get credit cards.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the above announcements while addressing street vendors, who attended Panchayat at C.M.’s House here on Sunday.
Rushdie’s video address cancelled
Jaipur, January 25: Within hours of protest from various Muslim organisations amid talks of controversial author Salman Rushdie’s video conference, Ram Pratap Singh Diggi, the owner of Diggi Palace, the venue for Jaipur Literature Festival, sensing public outrage said that no such event will take place in his premises.
The decision to call off the video address by the Satanic Verses writer came after a meeting festival organisers had with leaders of Muslim organisations during which the protesters told them “even seeing his face is intolerable”.
Amit Shah seeks SC nod to stay in Gujarat
New Delhi, January 25: Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah Tuesday sought the permission of the Supreme Court to “enter, stay and function” in the state, from where he has been barred since Oct 30, 2010 by an apex court order.
Shah sought modification of the order which, while declining to suspend the bail granted by the Gujarat High Court, directed him to stay away from the territorial limits of the state.
Shah in his petition said that the entire case against him was “fabricated solely on political considerations”.
Deputy CM fires salvo at CM
Hyderabad, January 25: After firing the first salvo against chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the first meeting of the Congress Coordination Committee on January 5, deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Monday is believed to have come down heavily on him once again, describing him as “authoritarian and anti-Dalit”.
Woman alleges rape by live-in partner
New Delhi, January 25: A 26-year-old woman, who was in a live-in relationship with her friend for the last three years, has alleged that she was being raped by him for long and kept quite as she was afraid of being kicked out of their joint business, police said Tuesday.
According to police, the couple was residing in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase I and were in the business of interior decoration.
Police have registered a case regarding the incident and is probing the matter while the qeationning of the 30-year-old accused Kamal is on.
Ground water hits rock bottom in Hyd
Hyderabad, January 25: Residents of several areas may face severe water crisis in the coming summer as ground water levels have plummeted to alarming levels. Marredpally and its surrounding areas may be the worst hit as water level has sunk as low as 24 metres below ground level (BGL).
According to the ground water department officials, water levels were recorded between 3.60 metres and 24 metres BGL in the city in December 2011. They attribute the grim situation to deficit rainfall and over exploitation of ground water.
