Eamcet notification on Feb 10, test on May 12

Hyderabad, January 26 (INN): The notification for Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-2012), being conducted by JNTU – Hyderabad on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education(APSCHE), will be issued on February 10.

According to the APSCHE, the Eamcet-2012 will be conducted on May 12.

For the first time, the applications will be accepted online from February 12 to March 30 from the candidates. The candidates can file their application online with a fine of Rs 1,000 up to April 19, Rs 5,000 till April 25 and Rs 10,000 fine up to May 9.

Govt withdraws 657 cases against ‘T’ students

Hyderabad, January 26 (INN): The State Government has withdrawn as many 657 cases booked against students during the Telangana agitation.

Making the announcement at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday, Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said that the decision would benefit nearly 8,000 students. She said another 133 cases, which are now sub-judice, would also be withdrawn by this month-end.

Rudraraju condemns Venkatswamy’s remarks against CM

Hyderabad, January 26 (INN): Congress MLC Rudraraju Padmaraju on Wednesday condemned the statement of senior leader G Venkataswamy wherein he accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of being anti-Dalit.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party here on Wednesday, Radraraju said that Venkatswamy’s allegation was far from truth and it would damage the party’s reputation. Being a senior leader in the party, Venkatswamy should have restrained from making such a statement, he said.

Court extends Koneru’s judicial remand till Feb 2

UK gears up for Iran face-off

Tehran, January 26: UK Defense Secretary Philip Hammond says Britain could send military reinforcements to the Persian Gulf in the wake of a military confrontation with Iran.

Speaking at a press conference in London on Tuesday, he said two British and French warships and the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln had entered the Persian Gulf on Sunday.

Hammond added that the decision to send British HMS Argyll sent a “clear signal” to Tehran, The Telegraph reported.

Congress refutes Rushdie remarks

New Delhi, January 25: The Congress Wednesday refuted remarks by Salman Rushdie that the party’s desire to garner Muslim votes in Uttar Pradesh elections was the reason for

CBI produces Sunil Reddy before court today

Hyderabad, January 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) today produced Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s close aide Sunil
Reddy, arrested in connection with the Emaar properties case
yesterday, before CBI special court at Nampally here today.

The CBI, which picked up Reddy from his residence
yesterday, questioned him throughout the day.

The agency also conducted searches at his residences in
the city and seized some important documents.

Three police officials suspended for dereliction of duty

New Delhi, January 25: Three Delhi Police officials were suspended for leaving a body unattended in a morgue for six months and not bothering to inform the dead person’s kin, police said Wednesday.

A body of a 36-year-old man, Saroj Poddar was left unattended at a hospital mortuary in west Delhi for the past six months. The post-mortem was also not carried out.

Congress slams Hazare for remarks justifying slapping

CBI wants narco-test on Vijay Sai Reddy

Hyderabad, January 25: The CBI special court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a petition to January 30, wherein the Central Bureau of Investigation has sought permission to conduct Narco analysis test on Jagathi Publications vice-chairman Vijay Sai Reddy in the disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The court adjourned the hearing after Vijay Sai Reddy’s counsel sought time to file a counter petition in this connection.

Woman posing as PMO official arrested

New Delhi, January 25: A 51-year-old woman who cheated several people by posing as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), landed in the police net when she approached the civil aviation regulator to intercede on behalf of a suspended pilot, said police Wednesday.

Sumangali Francina Easther Charles alias Suman Singh, resident of Hyderabad, was arrested from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport Tuesday when she arrived here from Chennai.

MP minister accused of seeking sexual favours

Bhopal, January 25: A Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board member Wednesday accused the Minority Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi of seeking sexual favours to cancel his transfer. The minister has denied the charges.

S.M.H. Zaidi, secretary of the board, said that he has moved the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the minister.

Zaidi, a veterinary doctor, alleged that when he contacted Vishnoi to get his “unfair” transfer order reversed, his aide Shaukat Khan asked him to bring his wife to the minister’s bungalow.

Sadhvi doesn’t have to go to Bhopal till Feb 6: HC

Mumbai, January 25: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, got a small relief today as the Bombay High Court said she does not have to travel to Bhopal until February 6, to appear in a murder trial there.

The division bench of Justices V M Kanade and M L Tahaliyani was hearing a petition filed by Sadhvi, seeking direction to the authorities that she be taken to Bhopal either by plane, or in an AC compartment of train. She said she was ready to bear the expenses of travel.

Modi should have resigned by now: Cong

New Delhi, January 25: With the Supreme Court issuing yet another direction to Narendra Modi-run Gujarat today, Congress said the Chief Minister should have resigned by now in the wake of several strictures, observations and inquiries against his government on diverse matters.

“It is not going to happen given the fact that “obduracy and insensitivity is the norm of the Chief Minister (Modi) ….who is thick-skinned and greedy for power” Party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
