Yash Raj film’s scion and filmmaker Aditya Chopra was spotted at the Mumbai Airport recently returning from a family holiday in London. Aditya and his family were spotted along with Aditya’s rumoured girlfriend, actress Rani Mukehrjee.

Man confesses to attacking Islamic centre, Hindu temple

New York, January 04: A New York man arrested for attacking an Islamic centre and a Hindu place of worship with firebombs has confessed to his role in the incidents that caused outrage over the weekend, citing personal grudges with people at the targeted locations.

The 40-year old, whose identity has not been released yet, was arrested on Tuesday after the police tracked down his car that was seen at the site of the attacks through surveillance cameras as well identified by few witnesses, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

CBSE announces exam dates for Class X, XII

New Delhi, January 04: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday declared the dates for the Class X and Class XII exams.

The exam for class X will commence on March 01, and will end on March 26.

Whereas, the class XII exam will start on March 01 and end on April 13.

Five dead in Delhi building collapse

New Delhi, January 04: Five labourers were on Wednesday killed and four injured when the roof of a building collapsed after agas cylinder exploded in Mundka area of northwest Delhi.

The incident took place in Railway Colony in Mundka at7:25 am when some of the labourers were engaged in cooking,police said.

The one storey structure was weak and collapsed soon after the explosion, they said.

The labourers were rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where five were declared brought dead.

Blanket thief held in Sharjah

Sharjah, January 04: At a time when thieves are target valuables, cash and gold…a Pakistani man has confessed to stealing blankets. And not a few but six truck loads full, worth about Dh200,000.

He allegedly stole 500 boxes of blankets from a warehouse in Sharjah Industrial area. He was nabbed while transporting them to warehouse in Dubai.

The warehouse owner said he had lost the main key to the warehouse earlier and believes the 29-year-old suspect used a spare key to enter the place.

Investigations are on. The motive behind the crime is not known yet.

Another case was registered against for assaulting Praja Rajyam leader Shaik Mannan Sayeed. The corporator has obtained stay order from the court in these cases.

New info on Maliki failed assassination

Baghdad, January 04: New details have been discovered by an Iraqi fact-finding mission about a November 2011 car bombing in Baghdad that apparently targeted Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, a military official says.

Iraqi military spokesperson in Baghdad Major General Qassim Atta said on Tuesday that the mission would be announcing the results of its findings in the coming days.

On November 28, 2011 security officials said two people were killed in a car bombing at an Iraqi parliament parking lot inside Baghdad’s Green Zone.

US ban on CBI etched in Iranian memory

Washington, January 04: US government on the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) will not weaken the nation’s resolve to pursue its goals and rights.

Ramin Mehmanparast added that CBI sanctions only aim to increase political pressure on Iran and part of a propaganda campaign against the country because there are no banking ties or trade exchange between the two countries.

“Countries which act under US pressure must realize that they will eventually forfeit their national interests under illegitimate US pressure and [in order] to serve US interests,” he added on Tuesday.

Israel approves more illegal settler units

Jerusalem, January 04: Israel has approved the construction of about 300 new Jewish settlement units in occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Tel Aviv has already given the green light for the construction of one thousand settlement units in East al-Quds, which was annexed by Israel following the Six-Day War of 1967.

The Israeli announcement came on Tuesday, a few hours before Tel Aviv and Palestinian Authority (PA) envoys met in the Jordanian capital Amman.

1 Lakh jobs in private sector: AP CM

Hyderabad, January 04: As per the promise made by the Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy to provide one lakh jobs in the private sector by the end of December, 1,01,082 jobs have been created so far. Of this 76,908 have been provided employment through the EGMM, MEPMA – 14,826, Technical Education department – 2,258, employment and training department – 7,090. Of the 76,908 jobs created by the EGMM, 53,580 have been provided training, 20,048 have been provided direct employment while 3,280 have been provided self employment.

NY Police Steps Up Security Around Islamic Centre, Temple After Attacks

New York, January 04: American police today erected a security tower and stepped up surveillance around an Islamic centre and a Hindu temple that were among four sites fire-bombed here in arsonist attacks termed by authorities as hate crimes and also released the sketch of a suspect.

Molotov cocktails were hurled at the four locations last night, with bombs damaging property but no serious injuries were reported.

Mullah Omer makes peace between Taliban -pakistan

Islamabad,January 04 :Taliban’s supreme commander Mullah Mohammad Omar now in hiding has put pressure on his groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan to form a new grouping which has pledged to stop targeting Pakistani security forces and instead focus attention on US-led troops in Afghanistan.
“Following the intervention of one-eyed Omar, the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban formed a joint five-member shura or council with other Pakistani militant groups on Sunday to oversee an end to attacks on Pakistani forces,” The News daily quoted its sources in the Taliban as saying.
