Congress nothing to do with YSRC crisis

Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): The sequence of events unfolding in the YSR Congress camp, will in no way affect Congress party and will have no impact in the by-elections, said former minister J C Diwakar Reddy.

“Congress will not suffer any major loss in the bye-elections to be held for 24 constituencies with the arrests of anyone in respect to the disproportionate assets case of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.

He rebutted the charges of YS Jagan Reddy that the Congress was using CBI as tool to settle scores with YSR Congress activists.

India rejects incorrect border maps on US website

New Delhi, January 05: India Wednesday said it was aware of “gross inaccuracies” in a map of India on the US State Department website and asserted that “the entire border state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country”.

India also said it has consistently “rejected incorrect depiction of its borders on maps used by the US government”.

Training programme for Sectt. Staff

Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi inaugurated the in-service training programme for the Secretariat officers here on Wednesday.

The training would be imparted to the staff from Assistant Section Officer to the Additional Secretary level for improving capacity building.

TRS opposes Naidu yatra; 50 held as a precaution

Warangal, January 05 (INN): TRS has vehemently opposed TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra in Telangana region and police arrested 50 party workers ahead of the Friday’s Rytu Porubata.

TRS has said that Naidu has no moral right to undertake padayatra as he failed to redress farmers’ problems while in power.

“Naidu neglected farming sector while in power and now trying to project himself as the champion of farmers’ cause is ridiculous,” TRS leader T Harish told reporters here on Wednesday.

Shankar Rao wants Rs 1,000 Cr for his department

Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): Handlooms and Textiles Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Wednesday said that his ministry would seek allocation of Rs 1,000 crore in the next budget.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat after releasing APCO’s calendar, Dr Shankar Rao said that all departments in his ministry were in bad shape and need immediate financial assistance. Therefore, he would seek allocation of at least Rs 1,000 crore for his ministry from Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy during the next State budget.

Govt extends VRO, VRAs application dates

Hyderabad, January 05 (INN): The State Government has extended the last date for submission of applications for the posts of Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) to January 18.

Addressing a video-conference with Districts’ Collectors at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said that the date has been extended from December 28 to January 18 to help the aspirants.

‘US deploys troops in Israel for Iran war’

Tehran, January 05: The US military is preparing a massive military campaign against Iran, sending thousands of American troops, warships and weaponry to Israel.

An unnamed source said the military deployment of US anti-missile ships and accompanying support personnel will occur in January and later this spring, Global Research reported.

Student extracts gold from scrap CPUs

Beijing, January 05: A Chinese student has extracted pure gold from scrap CPUs, earning him the title “modern alchemist”.

Li Dianwu, a chemistry senior at Nankai University in Tianjin in north China, dissolved useless CPUs in a solution of sulfuric acid, thiourea and hydrogen peroxide, and filtered the solution with activated carbon.

Then he put the metal-filled activated carbon in a muffle furnace and extracted 65 milligrams of gold at a temperature of 1,100 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Morning Post reported Wednesday.

Man beheaded for girl’s rape, murder

Riyadh, January 05: A man convicted of murdering a young female relative after sexually assaulting her was beheaded Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said.

Sami Al-Mekhlafi took the girl to a deserted area before sexually assaulting and strangling her until she passed out, and then hit her on the head with a tent pole until she died, the ministry said in a statement.
He was executed in Madina.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are punishable by death under the Islamic Shariah law.

New York, January 05: Soft drink multinational Pepsi is facing a suit from Illinois resident Ronald Ball after the later found a small mouse’s body inside his can of Mountain Dew in 2009.

But the strange argument that Pepsi has given is that Ball would never have known the mouse had been in his can because it would have dissolved into jelly.

Ball says he bought the Moutain Dew can from a vending machine at work in 2009, and while pouring the drink into a styrofoam cup, he found to his shock when a tiny mouse came out.

Rock ghost’ gives Uttar Pradesh a sleepless night

Lucknow, January 05: An SMS that people who doze off will be turned to rocks and a temblor is going to rock the state gave many in Uttar Pradesh a sleepless night, police said on Tuesday.

The SMS, sent by unidentified miscreants, sparked panic in several districts of the state on Monday night, they said.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have ordered an inquiry and are on the lookout for the source of the rumour.

“An inquiry is being conducted into last night’s rumour- mongering and action will be taken against those found guilty,” Inspector General of Police GP Sharma told reporters here.

TRS leaders meet ahead of Telangana by-polls

Hyderabad, January 04: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao today held a meeting of the party leaders here regarding the by-polls that are to be held in the Telangana region soon.

Pune, January 04: Anna Hazare who was admitted to hospital with chest congestion, is responding well to treatment and his condition is improving, doctors attending on him said here Wednesday.

“Anna is stable and improving. The congestion in his chest has reduced and he got good sleep last (Tuesday) night,” said Sancheti Hospital’s Mahendra Kawedia, who has been closely monitoring Hazare’s condition.

Grenade blast hits Congress office in poll-bound Manipur

Imphal, January 04: A ruling Congress party office came under a powerful grenade attack late Wednesday in election-bound Manipur, even as seven influential separatist groups called for a ban on all poll meetings and campaigning by the ruling party.

A police spokesperson said unidentified militants lobbed a grenade at a Congress party election office at Singjamei on the outskirts of capital Imphal around 8.45 p.m.

“Nobody was injured in the attack as the office was closed by then. A parked car was damaged in the impact of the blast,” the official said.

London, January 04: Pakistan’s embattled former ambassador to US, Husain Haqqani, fears he will be murdered if he leaves his sanctuary in the official residence of the Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, a media report on Wednesday said.

Haqqani who is at the centre of the memo scandal said the allegations against him are part of a “psychological war” against Pakistan’s civilian government by “certain powerful quarters.”
