Hazare discharged from hospital

Pune, January 08: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare was
discharged from Sancheti hospital here this morning.
He was admitted in Sancheti Hospital on December 31 after he
complained of chest congestion, backache and body weakness.

“My fight will continue,” Hazare told mediapersons waiting
outside the hospital before leaving for his village Ralegan
Siddhi.

“The social activist has recovered now and our team
has decided to discharge Hazare,” said Doctor Parag Sancheti,

Brother’s passports is mine: Emirati’s

Dubai, January 08: An Emirati travelled to Thailand using his brother’s passport as his passport was seized for cases agasint him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Corporal Mohamed Darwish at Dubai International Airport testified that on July 25, 2009 police circulated that TSA has travelled outside the UAE using another person’s passport.

Upon his arrival on July 25, 2011, he submitted a passport which proved to be of his brother. Confronting him with that, TSA confessed to the crime.

Indian couple could be oldest married couple in UK

London, January 08: An Indian couple living in Bradford have been married for 86 years, and could be UK’s oldest married couple.

Karam and Kartari Chand got married in 1925 in a village in Punjab. According to their passports, Mr Chand is 106 years old and his wife is 99.

They have just celebrated their 86th wedding ceremony and they think it qualifies them as UK’s longest married husband and wife.

Karam Chand said there was no real secret to living a long married life.

AP still best investment destination: CM

Hyderabad, January 08: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today said the state continued to be one of the best investment destinations in the country.

”Andhra Pradesh today stands at the top, thanks to the pro-active policies of the state government,” an official statement quoting Mr Reddy said, on the eve of the three-day Global Partnership Summit which would begin from January 11.

The release said in order to make Andhra Pradesh the investment magnet of the country, the Chief Minister had been striving to make the state one of the best investment destinations.

Fake currency racket having Pakistan-link busted, 11 arrested

Hyderabad, January 08: In a major breakthrough, the city-based National Investigation Agency (NIA) has busted a Pakistan-based Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racket and arrested a gang of 11 persons, including the kingpin, involved in smuggling of fake Indian currency from Pakistan, here last evening.

As many as Rs 27,000 fake currency notes were seized from the gang, who had already managed to circulate fake notes worth a crore of rupees, according to NIA sources here.

Saudi Arabia tries 16 suspected al Qaeda members

Riyadh, January 08:Saudi Arabia has begun the trial of 16 suspected al Qaeda members accused of killing a policeman and plotting attacks on government officials and military weapons facilities, Saudi media reported on Sunday.

The group is also accused of financing “terrorism” in other countries, smuggling weapons and training and sending militants to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, Asharq al-Awsat newspaper said.

Polish woman held with fake visa

New Delhi, January 08: A 22-year-old Polish woman was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here with a fake visa and passport while she was about to fly to Beijing, police said Sunday.

Marzeena Bartosik was to board an Air China flight Saturday night.

‘The passport she was carrying was counterfeit. The Indian multiple visa no. Y 826165 issued at Oslo from Nov 16, 2011 to Nov 15, 2012 pasted on page no. 35 of the passport too was counterfeit,’ a police officer said.

Bartosik visited Varanasi, Jaipur and Agra and stayed at various hotels.

Election Commission orders to wrap up BSP statues

Lucknow, January 08: Ahead of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh formal orders have been issued by the Election Commission to swathe the statues of BSP head and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati as well as the party symbol ‘elephant’ put up across the state in recent years.

Labourers in Lucknow city were seen covering the statues of Mayawati and her party symbol, elephant.

This move of Election Commission just a month prior to state assembly elections is assumed to be a major setback to Mayawati.

BJP running ‘most corrupt’ govts in states: Rahul

Gorakhpur, January 08: Attacking BJP, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said the opposition party is taking corrupt ministers thrown out by others and was running the “most corrupt” governments in states ruled by it.

New Delhi, January 08: A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s attack, Congress on Sunday reached out to its ally saying there was need for “better communication” with Trinamool Congress and the two could re-build trust by ironing out “disagreements” within closed doors.

Discounting the possibility of Banerjee parting ways with Congress, senior party leader and Union Minister Salman Khurshid said there was no need to read too much into Banerjee’s statement that Congress was free to walk out of the ruling alliance in West Bengal.

Sukhram shifted to hospital again

New Delhi, January 08: Former Union Minister Sukhram, who surrendered before a local court yesterday which sent him to jail to serve his three-year sentence in 1993 telecom scam case, has again been shifted to ICU of a city hospital.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of Tihar Prisons, RN Sharma, the condition of the 86-year-old ailing former minister had “deteriorated” and on advice of the Tihar jail hospital doctors, he was admitted to the ICU of Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Future of 300 auto owners uncertain, thanks to authorities’ negligence

Hyderabad, January 8: The state government banned registration of new auto rickshaws in the city in the year 2002. The government issued GO 133 applicable in November 2011, giving permission for 3,500 more autos in the city. The registration was permitted only for auto owners whose autos have been scrapped or trapped in cases.

In all, 3,000 autos were reserved for applicants in the general category and 500 for applicants in the SC/ST category.

Meanwhile 3500 tokens were issued but 3800 auto rickshaws came out of the showrooms of which 300 auto rickshaws are presently on TR number.

Allocating Urdu medium posts for SCs STs is injustice

Hyderabad, January 8: Mohammad Ifteqaruddin Ahmed advocate, state president Andhra Pradesh Muslim reservation front demanded to fill DSC Urdu medium posts with Urdu medium DSC qualified candidates.

Altogether 772 posts of DSC-2006-2008 have been reserved under SC, ST category and notifications have been issued 3 times so far, despite that only 7 candidates attended the interview.

Mr. Ifteqaruddin Ahmed said that great injustice has been done to Urdu medium passed candidates by allocating the vacant post of Urdu medium for ST, SC category.

Hyderabad, January 08: YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s aide and party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu Sunday appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Emaar-APIIC township scam.Rambabu, who was chairman of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) from 2005 to 2007, appeared before CBI officials at Dilkusha guest house.

The CBI has summoned him under section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code to record his statement.
