Saifeena to wed in March: Soha

Mumbai, December 05: Saif Ali Khan’s sister Soha has confirmed that the wedding between Bollywood’s hottest couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif, will take place immediately after the release of Khan’s home-production Agent Vinod.

“The date hasn’t been finalised. Bhai says after Agent Vinod releases, they will finalise the date and share it with everyone,” said the ecstatic sister. “Tentatively, it is March, since the release of Agent Vinod has been planned for February 2012. It will be soon after that,” she added.

Yemenis call for Saleh execution

Sanaa, December 05: Thousands of Yemeni anti-regime demonstrators have taken to the streets across the country to call for the execution of dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh.

On Saturday, Yemeni protesters took to the streets in several cities as part of daily demonstrations, demanding the downfall of the regime.

Protesters asked the international community to intervene in the months-long crisis in Yemen. They also called for an end to the shelling of the southern city of Taizz.

‘Iran sanctions, double-edged sword’

Tehran, December 05: Member of Iran Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee says the European Union’s unilateral sanctions against Iran are like a double-edged sword, which harm the European countries more than Iran.

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh went on to say that Iran has never welcomed sanctions, but is never defenseless against them, Fars News Agency quoted him as saying on Sunday.

“No country in the world has suffered sanctions more than Iran and we have always tried to render all sanctions ineffective,” he added.

Iran shoots down US drone: Report

Tehran, December 04: A US drone was shot down by the Iranian military in the eastern part of the country Sunday, a media report said.

Xinhua quoting the Arabic-language al-Alam TV said that a US reconnaissance aircraft was downed near the country’s eastern border.

According to the semi-official Fars news agency, the drone was slightly damaged in the attack and has been seized by the military.

No official confirmation was immediately available.

‘Cash-for-vote probe affected by pol compulsions’

New Delhi, December 04: Attacking Delhi Police over its handling of cash-for-vote case, former SP leader Amar Singh has alleged that people against whom there is concrete evidence are walking free because of political compulsions.

“I am alone. There is audio-video evidence of Reoti Raman Singh but because he has 22 MPs, he has gone scot free. Police have ignored the evidence against Reoti but courts have not and that is why he is being summoned now,” Amar Singh, who is an accused in the case and is out on bail, said in an interview to a TV channel.

No mining licence was given by me: Krishna

New Delhi, December 04: External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Sunday insisted that he had given no licence for mining in forest area in Karnataka in his capacity as the state Chief Minister, a day after a probe was ordered against him in a mining scam.

He said the former Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde had clearly stated that he was not involved in any mining scam, despite which a complaint was filed against him before a magistrate who asked the Lokayukta Police to undertake investigation.

240 pirated DVDs seized at Charminar

Hyderabad, December 4: Husaini Alam police and anti piracy team raided a shop at Charminar and seized nearly 240 pirated DVDs while also arresting a man.

Sub inspector of Police Husaini Alam U Srinivas Reddy told that New Music World, located at Charminar area of old city was raided and the owner Sajjad was taken into custody. They also seized the DVDs comprised of Telugu film Bijawada and other films.
