A.P. Law University gets national status

Hyderabad, December 05: (Siasat News) Govt. has named A.P. Law University as A.P. National University of Law in order to get National status on a part with other law universities in the country. A.P. State Assembly passed an Amendment Act 2008, which was presented by Law Minister Pratap Reddy. The committee constituted by NALSAR suggested that instead of opening the branches of NALSAR in Vishakapatnam, Nizamabad and Kadapah, it is better to establish a National Law University on the lines of NALSAR.

Youth arrested for raping girl on train

Mumbai, December 05: A rape case has been filed against a 20-year-old Pune resident, Kishan Sahani, after a 15-year-old girl alleged that he raped her on board the Deccan Queen during the journey from Pune to Mumbai. Sahani has been arrested.

The girl in her First Information Report to Dadar GRP has alleged that Sahani compartment of a Mumbai-Ahmedabad train that was parked in one of the loop lines between Dadar and Matunga, towards midnight and raped her.

PM hopes for smooth functioning of Parl

New Delhi, December 05: Two days to go before Parliament resumes and the Prime Minister has expressed hope that Parliament will function smoothly after Friday’s adjournment brought on by pandemonium in both Houses on the FDI in retail issue.

IM operatives to be produced in court

New Delhi, December 05: The six Indian Mujahideen operatives who were arrested by Delhi Police will be presented in a lower court on Monday. These IM operatives were arrested for their alleged involvement in Pune’s German Bakery and Delhi’s Jama Masjid blasts.

Their police custody ends on Monday.

The Police recovered 2 AK-47 rifles, a 9 mm pistol, 5 kgs of explosives and 64 cartridges from the accused.

‘Hezbollah intercepting Israeli threats’

Gaza, December 05: The head of the Hezbollah executive council says the resistance movement is fully prepared to counter any Israeli threats against Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din made the remark on Saturday, a day after Hezbollah members discovered an Israeli espionage device planted in south Lebanon.

“This is clear proof that the resistance is alert and performing its duty. It is clear proof that the Israelis are not yet through with Lebanon and that it is still a target of the Israelis,” Safi al-Din said.

Man shot at for opposing girl’s harassment

New Delhi, December 05: An autorickshaw owner was shot at and injured by two motorcycle-borne assailants in east Delhi after he objected to their harassing a girl at a bus stand, police said Sunday.

Ajay Kumar Anand, 38, a resident of Bhajanpura, was hit by a bullet in stomach at Bhajanpura around 9.45 p.m.

“He noticed that two motorbike-borne men stopped near a bus stop seeing a single girl. They were harassing her and were forcing her to come along with them,” said a police officer.

Parliament disruptions COST India Rs 25 crore in 12 days!

New Delhi, December 05: The current Lok Sabha has completed half its tenure (two-and-a-half years) but it has utilised just 72 per cent of the allotted time so far. In the ongoing winter session, it has convened every day since November 22 but not conducted any business at all.

As against 1,110 hours available, the House sat for only 798 hours and 39 minutes. The current Lok Sabha appears to be jinxed as it has wasted a record number of hours in just two-and-a-half years, surpassing total disturbances during the full five-year term of the previous Houses.

Toilet demolished with woman in

Mumbai, December 05: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old woman from a Mulund slumwas seriously injured on Friday when the public toilet in which she was attending nature’s call was razed to make for the upcoming redevelopment project. The demolition team did not bother to check if there was someone inside the toilet.

According to the police, the incident took place at Gaunipada slum in Mulund (W) housing over 600 hutments, which are about to make way for a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project.
