Mumbai, December 05: Several Dev Anand fans have been posting “Rest In Peace” messages on social networking sites ever since the news of his demise was flashed. But celebrities like Shobhaa De and Boman Irani feel it is inappropriate to think a man with his kind of spirit will really rest even in heaven.

“Can hear Dev Anand crooning ‘Gaata rahe mera dil’ to a 16-year-old apsara in heaven. Great location, Dev saab. Get ready for yet another close up!” novelist and columnist De posted on Twitter.

Dev Anand died in London early Sunday following cardiac arrest. He was 88.

Quran emerges intact from a Car destroyed by fire

Kuwait City, December 05: Kuwaiti fire fighters battling to put out a blaze that destroyed a car in the oil-rich Gulf emirate stared in disbelief at the end of their task—the car and its contents were charred except a copy of the Quran.

Fire fighters had rushed to Shuwaikh industrial area in the OPEC oil producer after receiving a report about the car blaze.

“After they extinguished the fire, the vehicle and its contents were all destroyed and charred…but the fire fighters and police were shocked when they found a copy of the Quran intact,” Alanba newspaper said.

Dubai e-patrol busts online prostitution racket

Dubai, December 05: Two Chinese saleswomen allegedly posted pictures of naked women on a website and their mobile numbers for the purpose of soliciting customers for sex, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

KKT, 46, and SNJ, 36, are also accused of practicing prostitution.

Chief Prosecutor Khaled Salem Al Alawi, asked the court to impose stiffest penalty against them.

Seargant Issa Ibrahim, testified that an employee of the Police online department was carrying out an e-patrol he found mobile numbers from Dubai mentioned on different pornograhic websites.

5 member gang involved in bus theft arrested

Hyderabad, December 5: West zone team of Central Crime Station police arrested a gang involved in bus theft in the twin cities and seized items worth 6 lakh from their possession. It is said that 60 year old Nirmala resident of Mangore village with the help of her friend 35 year old Syed Anwar who is an auto driver by occupation, was carrying out theft crimes.

According to details the arrested woman is the sister of dangerous criminal Naga Raju who were carrying out the crimes with the help of other sisters Lakshmi, Sridevi and brother in law Syed Anwar.

Prostitution ring of 20 air stewardess busted in Saudi

Riyadh, December 05: Saudi Arabia’s feared religion police smashed a prostitution ring in the Gulf Kingdom’s second largest city, involving at least 20 airline stewardesses of Arab nationality, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice had watched the ring for more than four months in a bid to trap its leader, who was also caught with the other members, the Arabic language daily Sabq said in a report from the western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

No one to be solicitous about 225 year old Gunfoundry

Hyderabad, December 5: The Qutub Shahi and Asaf Jahi rulers, in order to provide every facility to he citizens, built reservoirs, educational institutions, hospitals and other buildings and also made gunfoundries to make strong cannons.

One of the signs of these which is still present is gunfoundary. It was built in 1786 by Nawab Mir Nizam Ali Khan Bahadur Asaf Jah II. 2 members of robber gang caught

Hyderabad, December 05: Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu spent the whole Sunday preparing for the debate on notrust motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government scheduled for Monday.

960 commercial buildings under scanner

Hyderabad, December 05: As many as 960 commercial buildings mostly corporate hospitals, five-star hotels, function halls and shopping complexes, have been found to be evading, if not altogether at least in part, payment of property tax to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

They were found to be evading payment of up to `24 crore. GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu issued directions to 18 senior officials comprising zonal commissioners, additional commissioners, joint commissioners, a chief valuation officer and others, to assess the 960 buildings assigned to them.

Friend steals couple sex pics from computer for blackmail

Dubai, December 05: KK, 38, an Indian, allegedly blackmailed RF, a South African, as regards publishing intimate pictures of him and his wife for a ransom of Dh200,000, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The accused is also accused of stealing the images from the computer of the victim.

BBK, 29, another Indian is accused of criminal complicity in the case.

The victim RF, 32, service coordinator testified that on July 14, at around 9am, KK came to his house and had dinner with him and then asked if he could use his computer.
