Ranchi, December 07: According to IB alert, Indian skipper MS Dhoni includes in the list of celebrities who are probably on the radar of terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad.

Based on an IB letter to all state police chiefs warning of possible threats to celebrities, Jharkhand police have made elaborate security arrangements for Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Washington, December 07: The Obama administration will weigh how countries treat gays and lesbians in making decisions about foreign aid, according to a presidential memorandum released by the White House.

Laws prohibit same-sex sexual activity in many nations in the Middle East and Africa, and in two of the largest recipients of U.S. aid, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Homosexuality is punishable by death in Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and in some parts of Nigeria and Somalia.

Five-hour total lunar eclipse on December 10

In a press statement issued on Monday, Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in-charge, public outreach programme, Arvind Paranjpye said the eclipse would not be as dark as the one that took place on June 15.

N-TEST at Rao behest: Kalam

Nagpur,December 07: Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on Tuesday revealed that former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao had asked him to make preparations for nuclear tests, which were subseuqently conducted (at Pokhran) during the NDA government, headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Kalam was addressing the probationers at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) here.

The former President said that in May 1996, he had received a call from Narasimha Rao asking to meet him at the earliest.

1year jail for TRS leader

Hyderabad, December 07: The state government has issued a GO, deciding to send TRS politburo member Dr. Cheruku Sudhakar to jail for one year. Dr. Sudhakar was arrested under the Preventive Detention Act on November 3, during the Sakala Janula Samme (general strike). Though he was released on bail for his daughter’s marriage, he was immediately arrested later. Now the government has issued a GO, slapping one year imprisonment on Sudhakar who is being detained in the Warangal jail.

Karzai scraps UK visit after bombings kill 59

London, December 07: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has cancelled a visit to Britain to fly home after at least 59 people were killed in twin attacks on Shiite shrines, an embassy official said Wednesday.

“President Karzai will no longer be coming to London. He is flying back to Afghanistan following today’s events,” Hanif Aman, a spokesman for the Afghan embassy in London, told reporters.

Karzai had been due to arrive in London later today from Germany for talks with Prime Minister David Cameron.

Man friends rape girlfriend

Dubai, December 07: What began as an innocuous house party, involving alchohol in the Al Qusais area of Dubai, ended in death, rape and arrests.

A 30-year old man, of an Asian nationality, fell naked from the balcony of his 11th floor apartment while trying to escape four friends who were attacking him, after allegedly raping his girlfriend in front of him.

According to Dubai Police, quoted in the Arabic newspapers, four of his friends have been arrested and accused of committing the crime.

They were all allegedly drunk at the time.

Andhra CM Kiran Reddy wins trust vote

Hyderabad, December 07: The opposition sponsored no-confidence motion against the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh was defeated by a huge margin in the state assembly late Monday night.

After over a 16-hour-long debate on the motion moved by Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the house voted on the motion after 1 a.m. While 122 members supported the motion, 160 opposed it and there was one neutral. Five members were absent during the voting.

US confirms downed drone spied on Iran
