Jaipur, December 07: Army authorities criticised the investigations being held in the alleged sexual harassment of a teacher at Jaipur Army School.

The Army came in support of the accused principal after a non-government organisation came in support of the lady teacher who has made the allegation against the principal and demanded suspension of the accused.

Babri dispute: Over 1,000 TMMK workers demonstrate

Coimbatore, December 07: Over 1,000 workers, including 350 women, belonging to Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staged a demonstration here, urging the Supreme Court to come out with an early verdict in the Babri Masjid dispute.

The demonstrators, led by P Abdul Samad, General Secretary Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, the political wing of TMMK, raised slogans demanding immediate arrest of BJP leaders responsible for its demolition, as recommended by the Liberhan Commission.

500 lashed to Australian man for blasphemy in Saudi

Riyadh, December 07: An Australian man has been sentenced to a year in prison and 500 lashes in Saudi Arabia for violating the country’s blasphemy laws.

45-year-old Mansor Almaribe had been detained in Medina on November 14 for insulting the companions of the prophet Muhammad, Heraldsun.com reports.

The accused reportedly made the offence while participating in the Hajj trip to Mecca.

He was initially sentenced to two years in jail and 500 lashes, which was later reduced to a year in jail and 500 lashes.

Man to get 500 lashes for blasphemy

Riyadh, December 07: An Australian man has been sentenced to 500 lashes and a year in prison in Saudi Arabia for religious offences.

Mansor Almaribe, the father-of-five was charged with blasphemy last month while participating in the Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca.

It has been reported he had been reading and praying in a group when accosted by religious police and arrested.

He was detained in the city of Medina on November 14.

Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has been called on to personally intervene on behalf of Almaribe, the Herald Sun reports.

Kanpur, December 07: In a shocking incident in Kanpur, a woman was force-fed crushed pieces of glass by her husband due to her inability to produce a child. The woman, Kareena, was first beaten up by her husband Neeraj and then forced to swallow the crushed pieces of glass.

Kareena says due to her inability to produce a child, Neeraj wanted a divorce so he could marry again. On Monday, he allegedly tried to kill her by force-feeding crushed glass to her after she refused to divorce him.

CBI must be brought under Lokpal: Kiran Bedi

New Delhi, December 07: Indicating that inclusion of Prime Minister under Lokpal may not remain their priority, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi today said bringing CBI under the ombudsman will make anti-corruption efforts more effective than any other measure.

Bedi said the anti-corruption watchdog without CBI is a “sabotaged Lokpal” which will defeat the very purpose of setting up such a mechanism.

“More than the Prime Minister, it is the CBI in Lokpal which will make it effective. Let’s not get distracted. A united Opposition can call the bluff,” she said.

Protest against ‘Dirty Picture’ screening

Hyderabad, December 07: ‘The Dirty Picture’, starring Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah, seems to have run into trouble with anti-obscenity activists disrupting screening of the film at several theatres in the state.

On Tuesday, more than 50 activists were arrested by police at Sai Raja theatre in Musheerabad at 11 am. While some activists immediately purchased tickets and got into the theatre a few others were taken into custody by the police.

Berlin, December 7: A German man is on trial in Nuremberg on hundreds of counts of rape over allegations he assaulted his daughter for more than three decades and fathered three sons by her.

Two city cops held for raping minor

Hyderabad, December 7: Three persons, including two police constables, were arrested for raping a minor girl.

According to the information, the Gopalapuram police in Secunderabad have arrested two constables, Prabhakar and Siddulu, attached to the Tukaram Gate police station in this connection. Besides the duo, police nabbed one Jahangir also in the case.

Saudi slammed for belittling Arabic

Riyadh, December 07: An official spokesman of the Ministry of Culture and Information on Sunday slammed a Saudi speaker for belittling the importance of Arabic language at a Saudi broadcasting forum.

Spokesman Abdul Rahman Al-Hazzaa, who is also adviser and director-general of TV, reacted to a speaker who said he should speak in English, while the Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja was the chief guest and the majority of the audience were Saudis.

Veena disowned by father!

Mumbai, December 07: Controversial Pakistani starlet Veena Malik’s father Malik Mohammad Aslam has disowned his daughter for appearing nude on the cover of FHM magazine.

Apparently, Veena has denied posing nude for the magazine cover and insisted that her pictures were doctored but her father is hard to placate. She has also slapped a legal notice against her ‘so called’ offenders and has fined them for a whopping sum of Rs 10 crore for maligning her image.

But Aslam has demanded a promise from his daughter not to visit India once the scandal is over.

Karthika Reddy steps down as Mayor

Hyderabad, December 07: After several weeks of unsuccessful lobbying for her continuance in the post, city mayor Banda Karthika Reddy submitted her letter of resignation to Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation commissioner MT Krishna Babu.

Reddy will, however, continue as caretaker mayor until her resignation is accepted by the council and a new mayor takes her place.

The Special GHMC Council will meet on December 17 to accept her resignation.

Hyderabad, December 07: Certain officers in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were found to be forging signatures and getting xerox copies of the signatures of the sanctioning authority without permission.

The alarming development came to the notice of the Examiners of Account of the GHMC who in turn alerted senior officials. The officers in question were allegedly making copies of signatures of senior officials at the zonal offices to show as if administrative sanction had been granted for different works.

Assets of fake currency dealers may be attached

Hyderabad, December 07: Andhra Pradesh police, with the help of Enforcement Directorate (ED), is contemplating to attach properties of the members of the gangs involved in the circulation and smuggling of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in the state.

“Circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in the state has become a challenge for the state police, but the situation is not so alarming. We wanted to take more deterrent measures to curb it,” Inspector General of Police (CID) Jitender told PTI.

Rs 70L released for Muslim youths wrongly held

Hyderabad, December 07: Perhaps in the first instance of victims of police torture in a terror case being paid compensation in India, Andhra Pradesh has released Rs 70 lakhs for innocent Muslim youths arrested and tortured in the 2007 Makkah Masjid blast case.

A day after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy announced in the state Assembly that the compensation would be paid, the minorities welfare department Tuesday issued an order releasing the amount.

According to officials, out of 70 victims identified, 20 would be paid Rs 300,000 each while others would get Rs 20,000.

Father held for raping daughter repeatedly

New Delhi, December 07: A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his daughter thrice reportedly at the instigation of her step-mother.

The 15-year-old victim, who managed to flee her house in Jamia Nagar and contact police with the help of an auto driver on Saturday, was produced before the child welfare committee on Monday and sent to the shelter home Prayas. The step-mother has also been arrested.

New Delhi, December 7: Kapil Sibbal has met with officials from Facebook, Google and other Internet giants and demanded they keep derogatory material about the country’s leaders off their websites, according to media reports Tuesday.

Kapil Sibal, India’s telecommunications minister, reportedly asked the Internet companies to have employees prescreen content before it is posted to ensure it is not offensive.

As per the details Gopichand, 32, was working as a Gorkha. He was living in Yepral. On the midnight of December 4 &5 , he was found roaming suspiciously in Kalyani Estate of Sridevi colony.

After some time, the entire colony was echoed with a voice. Hearing this, Raju, another gorkha, came out of his house.
