DCP caught with bar girl in police jeep

Mumbai, December 02: One has often heard of couples indulging in acts of affection being rebuked by police officials for misbehaving.

However, the tables were turned when a deputy commissioner closed in on a police jeep only to find that a
constable was with a bar girl inside the jeep with a businessman.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Kishore Jadhav was on night duty and found a parked white police jeep standing at the corner of LG Road around 2 am near Sena Bhavan.

Sub-Registrar, aide caught taking bribe

Hyderabad, December 02: A subregistrar at V.Madugula in Visakhapatnam district and his private assistant were caught taking bribe.

According to an ACB press release, the subregistrar, N Raghu, was caught in his office when he took `6,000 as bribe from SV Parameswara Rao of Thimmarajupeta village for delivering two registered documents in respect of an agricultural land purchased by the latter and his friend. The bribe amount was taken by Raghu’s private assistant, P Jagannatham, and both were caught by the ACB sleuths.

Gene that brake BREAST CANCER progression identified

Washington, December 02: A gene known as the 14-3-3s plays a critical role in halting breast cancer initiation and progression, a new study has found.

The discovery of this new target by William J Muller and his team from McGill University’s Goodman Cancer Research Centre points to novel therapies that eventually could slow or stop breast cancer progression.

Based on past clinical observations revealing that the expression of gene 14-3-3s is silenced in a large percentage of breast cancers, researchers had long suspected that it played a role in stopping cancer cells from dividing.

AP HC dismisses plea challenging release of ‘Dirty Picture’

Hyderabad, December 02: The Andhra Pradesh High Court today dismissed a petition challenging the release of Vidya Balan starrer “Dirty Picture” tomorrow. Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar upheld the contention of the respondent Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) that the certificate to the movie was granted as per the provisions of Cinematographic Act, 1952, as well as related notification of the Central government, CBFC counsel B Mayur Reddy said.

Amnesty calls on Africans to arrest Bush

Washington, December 02: Amnesty International has called on African nations to place the former US President George W. Bush under arrest during his tour of the continent this week.

“All countries to which George W. Bush travels have an obligation to bring him to justice for his role in torture,” Matt Pollard, an Amnesty official and senior legal adviser, said in a statement on Thursday, AFP reported.

The human rights group said, “There is enough evidence in the public domain” to justify Ethiopia, Tanzania or Zambia’s potential detention of Bush for human rights violations.

UN chief calls for an end to slavery
