Delhi, November 03: Both are just 24 months old, but already superstars in their own right. Shahrukh and Salman, as the entire Jama Masjid area calls them, have the highest price tag ahead of Eid-ul-Adha on Monday, claims proud owner Mohd Parvez.

According to Parvez, both Salman and Shahrukh are equally worthy. Anyone who pays Rs 1.50 lakh can take one of them home. However, so far potential buyers have only offered about Rs 90,000, but Parvez claims his goats are the best in the area and will cost nothing less than Rs 1.50 lakh each.

Pak Captaincy a ‘Sacrificial Lamb’ Position: Afridi

Lahore, November 03: Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi has described Pakistan captaincy as a ”sacrificial lamb” position.

“Everyone sees the captain as a sacrificial lamb every time,” Afridi told reporters after his meeting with the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf.

He, however, added that “he had no issues playing either as captain or a player in the team” again.

Making it clear that he had enjoyed leading Pakistan, Afridi said that if the board entrusted him with the responsibility again he was ready for it but would not run after it.

Subhan Allah: Pilots land on motorway for Namaz

Riyadh, November 03: Several Saudi air force soldiers decided to cut their mission and land on a motorway in the middle of the day to perform prayers on time.

A photojournalist who happened to be passing on the motorway just outside the capital Riyadh caught the airmen kneeling down on the road while their helicopters were parked nearby.

“Despite the scorching sun and the hot asphalt, the airmen landed their Sikorsky helicopters on the road and performed prayers on time,” Sabq daily said.

Anna in Delhi tomorrow, to participate in panel meeting

New Delhi, November 03: Anna Hazare is likely to end his vow of silence tomorrow and head to Delhi where he may attend the meeting of the standing committee on the issue of Lokpal Bill.

“Anna will go to Delhi tomorrow and may participate in the Standing Committee meeting,” Hazare’s associate Datta Awari told PTI over phone from Ralegan Siddhi, over 200 kms from here.

Team Anna member Manish Sisodia is reaching Ralegan Siddhi today and will accompany Hazare to the national capital tomorrow.

Indecent exposure? Lungi ban at cinema

Dubai, November 03: ‘Lungis’ have been banned from a Dubai cinema after complaints that the dress was a little too racy, a cinema manager said.

Bollywood Cinemas’ manager said women and men had complained men were coming to the theatre with “half mast” lungis, which effectively turns them into loincloths or short skirts.

A lungi is a long cloth tied at the waist and is popular in south India. It is normally worn “full mast” down to the ankles.

“Husbands complained, ‘how can we bring our wives and kids here?’,” said the manager.

Female thief stripped and branded in public

Beijing, November 03: A woman caught red-handed stealing faced public humiliation. She was stripped off her clothes by a mob.

The mob which gathered, ripped off her clothing and wrote, “I am thief” in Chinese on her back. She was also physically assaulted.

She tied rags around her chest to prevent complete exposure reported by Asianone.

The incident happened in the city of Taizhou, in east China’s Zhejiang province.

The incident drew lot of attention from netizens.

Chandrababu Naidu kicks off padyatra for farmers

Hyderabad, November 03: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu Wednesday launched state-wide “padyatra” (foot march) to highlight the problems faced by Andhra Pradesh’s farmers.

The leader of opposition in assembly kicked off “Ryty poru bata” from Dharmavaram in Anantapur district, demanding the government come to the rescue of distressed farmers.

The padyatra, the first-ever by Naidu in his three-decade-long political career, evoked a good response on the first day with large number of people turning out to hear him.

The 38-year-old Indian businessman has plastered every square inch of his house with Khan’s pictures and spent his honeymoon waiting outside the actor’s house in Mumbai, hoping to catch a glimpse of his idol.

Hyderabad, November 03: It was not a festival and no discounts were on offer for the clothes and decorative items on sale at the stalls near the Secretariat on Tuesday. But still, the rush to buy everything from sarees to furniture must be seen to be believed. One of those vying to buy the goods was KLN Giri, an employee at the Secretariat. “I purchased furniture, blankets and some other items for Rs 3,000. They are of good quality and the price too is reasonable,” he said.

Gang of four selling charas busted

Hyderabad, November 03: Task Force West Zone sleuths nabbed four drug peddlers on Wednesday at Good Luck hotel in Langer Houz and seized two kg charas, two motorcycles and mobile phones from them.

This is the first time that they got the banned substance from a person in Kanpur, police said. The prime accused, 32-year-old Mohd Taj, is a class VII drop out from a city school and he later took up odd jobs like working at pan shops and as paper boy. Presently, he is working as a labourer in the Chengicherla slaughterhouse.

No bail for Kanimozhi, all other 2G accused

New Delhi, November 03: DMK MP Kanimozhi and seven other have been denied bail in the 2G scam case today.

Bail pleas of ex-Telecom Secretary Siddhartha Behura, A
Raja’s former Private Secretary RK Chandolia and 5 others
have also been dismissed by the Delhi Court.

All the bail pleas in the 2G case have been dismissed. The trial will begin from November 11.

All the accused will move Delhi High Court.

The court said that the charges levelled against the accused are very serious in nature, have grave implications for the economy.

‘T’ formation will take time, says Shankar Rao

Hyderabad, November 03: Handloom and Textiles Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Wednesday stated that formation of Telangana would take longer as the Centre will have to follow certain procedures to effect the bifurcation of the State.

Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Shankar Rao said that it took more than two years of time for the formation of three states which were carved out in the recent past. While Uttarakhand was formed in 24 months, Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar in 28 months and it took 32 months for the formation of Chattisgarh.

Modi rules out early Assembly polls

Gandhinagar, November 03: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has no plans to advance the elections to the Assembly as anticipated by the State Congress.

“Why should I go for early elections?” Mr. Modi said when asked by journalists at a Hindu Vikram Samvat new year get-together here on Wednesday about the opposition Congress assessment to this effect.

Diesel, LPG, kerosene prices too may go up

New Delhi, November 03: With yet another petrol price hike looming large, the Petroleum Ministry said on Wednesday that it was up to the oil marketing companies (OMCs) to decide on the issue since the fuel has been deregulated.

On the other hand, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister S. Jaipal Reddy has sought a meeting of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) to decide on increasing the prices of diesel, domestic LPG and kerosene due to the growing under-recoveries from the sale of the subsidised fuels.
