People used to wish to go there, pass through the new stages of progress, earn both money and material but a country thought to be the greatest from military, economic and political point of view has been reduced to the status of the most indebted country of the world. A few years ago, America used to be a super power. Its numerous wrong decisions, and economic policies have brought it down to the declining economy.

Gratuity for Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid employees hiked

Hyderabad, November 5: State government has decided to hike gratuity of the employees of Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid. The gratuity will be paid to the employees of the two mosques in case of retirement or death during service. The GO MS 228 signed by Special Chief Secretary, M Chaya Ratan, was issued by the Minority Welfare Department by which the gratuity has been increased from 20 thousand to 2 lakh.

Top cop accuses Maya govt, sent to mental hospital

Lucknow, November 05: A senior police officer has learnt the hard way, the consequences of speaking against the establishment in Uttar Pradesh.

Devendra Dutt Mishra, a DIG in the Uttar Pradesh Fire Service Department, had alleged that there was widespread corruption in the state ruled by Chief Minister Mayawati.

The government responded by forcibly sending Mishra to a mental hospital late last night.

Mishra, who is due to retire from service in two years, had threatened to reveal evidence including files that prove massive embezzlement of funds in the purchase of equipment.

Sonam Kappor’s rescue act

Mumbai, November 05: Abhishek Bachchan and his Players’ leading lady Sonam Kapoor stepped in to ease off a tricky situation for their films’ crew.

If not for the two, directors Abbas-Mustan may not have been able to film an important, pre-climax stunt sequence at the Wellington airport in New Zealand.

The sequence involving a flight almost landing on a speeding car required an absolutely clear runway and of course most of the airport had to be evacuated, due to security reasons. However, the crew members had a tough time acquiring permission from the airport authorities for it.

Karachi, November 05: Pakistan`s former captain Shahid Afridi has claimed that jailed bookie Mazhar Majeed tried approaching him several times but he kept the players` agent at arm`s length as he suspected him of being involved in betting.

Former Test captain Salman Butt and pacers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir have been sentenced to jail in UK after being found guilty of conspiring with Majeed to fix parts of a Test match last year.

Afridi said Majeed tried getting friendly with him too but he ignored the London-based agent.

Mumbai, November 05: For all those who believe that Ranbir Kapoor’s grungy looks in song ‘Saadda Haq’ from Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar’ mimic Nirvana’s frontman Kurt Cobain, here is some news!

Apparently, Ranbir’s character Janardan aka Jordan is very much Indian. Talking to a daily, the actor said, “This is a completely original character that Imtiaz Ali has written. Jordan is not at all influenced by west. He is a Hindi speaking, desi jaat boy from the bylanes of Delhi, who is just infatuated by this whole idea of becoming a rockstar.”

Biryani a luxury in UAE soon?

Dubai, November 05: Experts in consumer protection agree with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) that expects food prices to rise next year due to climate changes which could reduce production of cereals, especially rice.

Another reason for the likely rise in rice prices is the ban on export of rice by Egypt.

The experts said measures like long-term contracts with foodstuff exporting countries are needed to curb rising food prices in the Arab world.  Raising awareness of consumers to reduce food consumption is also needed.

Drive against child labour, 4 rescued

Hyderabad, November 5: Department of labour along with NCLP and other non government agencies such as Dr. Reddy’s Foundation and AIDWA, has launched an inspection campaign at Begum Bazar and surrounding areas to check child labour.

Meanwhile cases have been booked against 4 shops on receipt of information about 4 child labours. Later the children rescued were handed over to PDNCLP for rehabilitation.

Two sisters found murdered

Hyderabad, November 5 (Siasat News): Two sisters were found murdered at their residence at Asif Nagar on Friday. Leela Bai, 60 and Kamalabai alias Munni Bai, 48 are residents of Ravindra Nagar in Asif Nagar and stay with their brother’s daughter Sunitha.

According to police, the sisters were having disputes over the ownership of the house in which they were living with their brother Basanthlal who resides at Attapur.

Mexico Tzotzil Indians reverted to Islam

Mexican City, November 05: Raised a Christian, Manuel Gomez now goes by Mohamed Chechev, and counts himself among a handful of Tzotzil Indians converted to Islam by Spaniards in southern Mexico.

“I am Muslim. I know the truth. I pray five times a day, celebrate Ramadan and have travelled to Makkah,” Chechev said in rudimentary Spanish.

He lives in a mainly Protestant community in Chiapas called Nueva Esperanza on the outskirts of San Cristobal de las Casas, where he shares a modest house with 19 relatives and sells vegetables he grows on a plot of land.

Godhra riots witness killed in attack

Ahmedabad, November 05: Nadeem Sayyed, a witness in the 2002 post-Godhra riots, was killed here on Saturday morning, reports said. Sayyed, a Congress worker, was attacked by unidentified men in Ahmedabad’s Johapura area.

Doctors declared him brought dead when he was taken to the hospital.

It is believed that Sayyed was attacked in connection with several PILs which he had filed in the Gujarat High Court over sanitation issues in the Johapura area. According to reports, he had also filed complaints against several political leaders.

Minister slept in public toilet to be first to register for elections

Morocco, November 05: Morocco’s health minister, Yasmina Badou, slept overnight in a public toilet just so she could be the first person to apply for candidacy in the country’s upcoming legislative election, according to al-Massae daily.

Bodyguards of the election headquarters in Casablanca were surprised to see the health minister sleeping in the public toilet, complete with mattress, blanket, bottles of water, and some biscuits.

The bodyguards said that she was at the offices at 6 o’clock in the morning waiting for them to open.

Miscreants cause trouble in Yousufain procession

Hyderabad, November 05: In the mangore basti near Habeebnagar some miscreants who were in drunken condition tried to stop sandal procession of Yousufain Dargah by stopping it.

They started pelting stones on the persons in the procession but the Muslims maintained patience and did not react.

Police force was commisioned immediately and the situation was brought under control. The procession was allowed to proceed. People gathered when they heard this news and demanded the police to take action against the miscreants.

1,500-yr-old skeletons found holding hands

Mutina, November 05: Laid out side by side and holding hands, these 1,500- year- old male and female skeletons are surely a sign of eternal love if ever there was one.

The lovers were probably even ‘ looking into each other’s eyes’ when they were buried in the 5th century AD, during the final days of the Roman Empire.

The extraordinary discovery was made by archeologists excavating an ancient Roman palace in the Italian town of Mutina, known today as Modena.
