Hyderabad, November 28: Shaikh Hashimuddin Gilani, the caretaker of the shrine of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani of Baghdad, has announced that a Sufi study centre will be set up in Hyderabad to promote the principles of brotherhood and humanity.

Monkey Reserve in 100 Acres

Hyderabad, November 28: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation proposes to establish an enclosure of 100acre land in a forest area near the city for rehabilitating the stray monkeys caught in the twin cities.The corporation will send the proposal to the forest department for identification and alienation of the land to deal with the evergrowing monkey menace due to the fastshrinking forest land in Greater Hyderabad limits on account of rapid urbanisation.

Saudi magician card tricks prominent scholar

Dubai, November 28: A well-known Saudi illusionist used his recent visit to Dubai to perform a playing cards trick on a prominent Muslim scholar from the Gulf Kingdom despite the Sheikh’s repeated criticism of sorcery as against Islam.

A Saudi newspaper ran a two-minute YouTube film showing Ahmed Al Bayed, one of the best known illusionists in the Middle East, doing the cards trick during a ride in Dubai’s metro, causing the surprised Sheikh Mohammed Al Arifi to laugh and to implicitly acknowledge Al Bayed’s magic skills.

Maid found with nails in her body

Riyadh, November 28: A Sri Lankan housemaid who was found with seven nails in her body following surgery at Dammam Central Hospital refused on Saturday to name who was responsible for inserting them.

According to sources, 22-year-old Balsubramaniam Shashikala was admitted to Dammam Central Hospital by her Saudi sponsor with complaints of body pains on Tuesday.

The doctors at the hospital performed surgery on her and found seven nails in her body.

London, November 28: Taliban cadres are being paid over $150 a month for desisting from action and will be allowed to keep their weapons as part of a new initiative to end the insurgency in Afghanistan, a media report said on Sunday. The “reintegration ” programme, which has the full support of Nato, is intended to keep them from attacking troops of the Nato-led ISAF, the Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday.

Mumbai, November 28: After wading through troubled times, actor Shiney Ahuja is back in fray with his latest film `Ghost` and says that his new film has some similarity with his horror-thriller `Bhool Bhulaiyaa`.

“The story of `Ghost` is totally different from `Bhool Bhulaiyaa` but in a way it is a similar film. Although it`s a horror film, it`s a very good love story. `Bhool Bhulaiyaa` had a thriller element but it was essentially a love story. Similarly, this is a very nice love story,” Shiney said here at a party held for `Ghost`.

Man with 15 kids by 13 different lovers

London, November 28: A British man, who is expecting his 16th child from the 14th woman he has been with, has another one coming within a few weeks.

Unemployed Jamie Cumming and his new girlfriend were expecting the baby to arrive on Friday, but the teenage mother-to-be was sent home from hospital the following day after doctors found she was having a “slow labour”.

The 34-year-old man from Dundee has already fathered 15 children with 13 different mothers, and is expecting a further child with another woman in January.

Elders must give way to younger leaders: PC

New Delhi, November 28: Amid speculation that Rahul Gandhi may take up a larger role in the party, Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said elders at some point of time must step back and give way to younger leaders.

Addressing the National Convention of Youth Congress, he recalled that 40 years ago when he had attended a similar convention in Kolkata, he had felt that the older leadership make way for younger leaders.

Chidambaram said that he still felt the same way. “I firmly believe older leaders at some time must step back and give way to young leaders,” he said.

Ghaziabad, November 28: A day after Delhi Police registered a case of cheating against Kiran Bedi for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for her NGOs in line with a court’s directive, Team Anna on Monday came out in defence of its key member.

Addressing a press conference here, Arvind Kejriwal said the allegations leveled against Bedi were baseless.

There was no evidence of cheating by Bedi, Kejriwal added.

Bedi, a former top cop, had yesterday claimed that she has “sound evidence and endurance” to deal with the FIR.

Youth object on Muslim girl’s roaming with non Muslim boy, arrested

Hyderabad, November 28: Gopalpuram police arrested 5 Muslim youth who objected when they found a Muslim girl roaming with a non Muslim boy.

It is said that police yesterday morning arrested Mohammad Akbar Kamal, Nawaz Mirza, Jaffer Khan, Shujat Husain and Imran on charges that they assaulted a non Muslim boy with whom a burqa-clad Muslim girl was seen roaming on his bike, and later handed over the girl to her parents.

Woman killed in Ghatkesar

Hyderabad, November 28: In a killing incident occurred under Ghatkesar police station limits 30 year old woman was killed by strangulating her throat. It is said that Sukannya who was the wife of Anjaneelu resided in LIG colony Ghatkesar.

Police told that Sukannya’s friend and her husband Kiran had arrived at former’s house late night yesterday.

Kiran had an argument with Sukannya in her bedroom and later strangled her to death.

It is suspected that Sukannya and Kiran had illegitimate relations. After killing her Kiran fled away with Sukannya’s gold magalsutar.

Woman names baby ‘Jihad’

Melbourne, November 28: According to The Local, the newborn child, which is the mother’s 14th kid weighs 13 pounds (six kilograms) sets a new record for Germany’s heaviest naturally born baby.

The 40-year-old mom, who weighs 528 pounds (240 kilograms), was advised to go for C-section because of the high risks involved with such a large baby, but she pushed for a natural delivery on Wednesday at Berlin’s Charite hospital.

Israel delays Mugrabi Bridge demolition

Jerusalem, November 28: Israel has decided to delay the demolition of the Mugrabi Bridge in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) over fears of protests against the Tel Aviv regime in Egypt and Jordan.

Israeli officials said on Sunday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the municipality of al-Quds to delay the execution of the demolition two days ago, Ha’aretz reported.

The decision to delay the destruction has been made due to fears that it could lead Egyptian protesters in Cairo to also express their anger at Israel.

New Delhi, November 28: The Parliament on Monday saw another day of no work as the MPs stalled the proceedings in both the Houses over government’s decision on FDI in retail and Telangana.

The second week of Parliament on Monday opened with a ruckus in both Houses over the issue of the government’s decision on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail. The opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha walked up to the well of the House, following which, the Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned till 12 noon. The Lok Sabha also had to be adjourned till noon.

Aseemanand questions bail to Malegaon 7, claims was tortured

New Delhi, November 28: Ten days after seven accused in the 2006 Malegaon blast case were released on bail, partly because of his confession that Hindu extremists were behind the attack, Swami Aseemanand has questioned the decision, reiterating that he had already retracted that statement made by him under “extortion”.
In a memorandum sent to President Pratibha Patil yesterday, with copies to the prime minister, home minister and the National Human Rights Commission among others, Aseemanand also alleged that he had been tortured “on account of my religion”.
