Koneru Prasad alleges harassment by CBI

Hyderabad, November 11: A special court extended the CBI’s custody of Koneru Prasad, an accused in the Emaar Properties case, by five more days although the investigating agency asked for an eight-day extension.

With his initial custody period of seven days ending Thursday, the agency brought Prasad, managing director of Stylish Homes Private Limited, to the court Thursday and sought extension of custody for he had not cooperated much with the investigation so far.

Azad to hold talks on Telangana today

New Delhi, November 11: Congress’ Andhra in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad will be in Hyderabad on Friday to hold consultation on the Telangana issue. This, comes days after Congress MLA KV Reddy put an end his nine-day fast after Azad’s assurance.

The Congress high command, after much deliberation, hinted on announcing a decision on Telangana after November 10.

As Congress high command continues to grapple with the Telangana issue, chief of the party’s Andhra Pradesh unit Botsa Satyanarayana held consultations with senior leaders including Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday.

Maderna grilled, Nurse sex clip on TV

New Delhi, November 11: The case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi took a dramatic turn on Thursday when a private news channel aired a video clipping showing sacked water resources minister Mahipal Maderna with Bhanwari in a compromising position.

The channel claimed the clip was from a 48- minute film on CD. The telecast timing is intriguing since it coincided with the CBI’s questioning of Maderna at the investigating agency’s Jodhpur office. It was the first time since the nurse went missing on September 1 that the former minister was grilled.

Imran Khan an American slave

Islamabad, November 11: The Pakistani Taliban have described cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan as a “slave of the US and Europe” after he called himself a liberal.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan made the remarks in an interview with BBC Urdu.

Ehsan noted that Khan had said he is not a Taliban supporter and remarked: “We also think Imran Khan is not our sympathiser.”

The Taliban spokesman advised Khan to talk in Urdu, the language of the Pakistani people, if he considers himself the representative of the people.

Saifeena wedding confirmed

Mumbai, November 11: India’s very own Brangelina aka Saifeena, who are Bollywood’s most popular couple, have always denied talks about their marriage plans.

Recently, Saif confirmed that his wedding with Kareena is on the cards next.

According to speculations, the two were planning to marry in 2012, soon after the release of Saif’s own production ‘Agent Vinod’ releases.

But due to the unfortunate demise of Saif’s father, Tiger Pataudi and delay in their film, Saifeena marriage was postponed.

GHMC spends 20 lakhs on Eid-ul-Azha

Hyderabad, November 11: Eid-ul-Azha was observed with religious fervour in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad during the past 3 days. Muslims performed the obligation of sacrifice but according to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation sources 4789 metric tones garbage was increased on account of Eid-ul-Azha and the administration had to hire the services of extra workers for removal of garbage from 7th to 9th November which cost 20 lakhs to GHMC which included the expenditure of labour and vehicles.

MP Warehousing Corporation’s branch manager suspended

Bhopal, November 11 (Pervez Bari): Madhya Pradesh Warehousing Corporation’s branch manager at Pipariya in Hoshangabad district of the state has been suspended with immediate effect over negligence in safety of stored food grains.

This was ordered by the Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Mr. Paras Chandra Jain who conducted simultaneous raids on about half a dozen godowns of Warehousing Corporation at Pipariya in Hoshangabad district on Thursday.

Hyderabad, November 11: This old mosque which is situated inside the 450 year old shrine located opposite to Kamela Kamati has three arches and is in very good condition. There are some houses of Muslims in the shrine. The mosque is located in a purely Muslim locality. Despite the fact that the mosque is badly needed here this mosque is uninhabited. A woman residing beside the mosque told that if the mosque is rehabilitated the women residing inside the shrine will land into trouble.

Global hospitals performs successful heart transplantation

Hyderabad, November 11: Doctors and Chief Cardiologist Thoracic Transplant surgeon of Global Hospitals along with a team of doctors successfully performed heart transplantation on a 22 year old patient. Patient was suffering from high pressure in the lungs and heart disease. However this surgery was possible thanks to a brain dead donor.

Though the heart transplantations are rare but Global hospitals have performed 6 heart transplantations so far.

Hindus should oppose Communal Violence Bill: Praveen Togadia

Hyderabad, November 11: International General Secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Mr. Praveen Togadia told the Hindus to oppose the proposed Communal Violence Bill.

Talking to newsmen at Vijayawada, he told that this bill assumes the Hindus as the criminals. He alleged that in case of any communal violence, only Hindus will be punished. He further told that VHP will launch a countrywide movement against this bill. He criticized the Govt. of A.P. for not implementing the act of Cow Slaughter in the state.

Sufi group rejects fatwa against celebrating Prophet’s birthday

Lucknow, November 11: A prominent Muslim ‘Sufi’ group refused to accept the recent fatwa by Darul Uloom, Deoband in which the Islamic seminary had termed the birthday celebrations including that of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as un-Islamic.

Rejecting the fatwa, the All India Ulema and Mashaikh Board (AIUMB)- an umbrella organisations of ‘sufi’ Muslims, claimed that Deoband seminary is imposing foreign ideology of Saudi Arabia.

Saher man burned alive in car

Riyadh, November 11: A Saher car was set on fire in the Alquwayiyah area on the Makkah highway east of Riyadh, killing the driver.

Riyadh police is intensifying its search for the attacker. The reason of the attack is still unknown.

On Thursday deputy spokesman for Riyadh Police Maj. Fawaz Al-Maiman said: “The police with the cooperation of Saudi security agencies are investigating the shooting incident. Police investigators were dispatched to the area where the incident occurred for additional evidence.”

BJP slams PM on talks with Pak, Cong hits back, Omar welcomes it

New Delhi, November 11: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s substantive talks with Pakistan on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Maldives did not go down well with the BJP. But it drew applause from Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah. Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said Pakistan has done nothing to punish those responsible for the 26/11 Mumbai attack or control cross-border terrorism.

“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has erred in describing Gilani as a man of peace… This is not acceptable to the people of India,” Sinha said.

New Delhi, November 11: The actual reason for the huge chaos among Kingfisher flyers across India became apparent on Thursday as the airline put its figures on the table.

While Kingfisher claimed it was cancelling 50 flights every day till November 19, in reality, it operated only 269 flights of its allocated winter schedule of 418 daily flights on Thursday.

Hyderabad, November 11: Since last three days after the Eid-ul-Azha, several incidents of fatal attacks on Muslim youths have been reported from different parts of Hyderabad. Several activists belonging to Hindutva organizations have been arrested in the case. At this stage of investigation in the case, the city police is not sure, if the attacks had any relation with the animal slaughter done by the minority community on the occassion of Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid, as the Islamic festival is popularly known.

Salman To Return Home Via Dubai After Three Months

Mumbai, November 10: Bollywood star Salman Khan will be returning to Mumbai after a long break overseas on November 13, says a media report.

Salman has been missing from the Mumbai scene for a while. He will make a stop at Dubai to announce a celebrity cricket tournament before returning home.

Salman has been out of India since August for his film shoots and medical treatment. He had made two very short trips to Mumbai in September end and just before Diwali for the shoot of his reality show which he co-hosts with Sanjay Dutt.
