New Delhi, November 14: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai is expected to give birth mid-November, can’t wait to see the new arrival and says he is enjoying the hustle bustle in the house.

“The family gathers together from all over as we wait for the ‘arrival’ … Greatest joy for me – a full house and the ‘chahel – pahel’ (hustle bustle),” the 69-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

US Apologises To Abdul Kalam For Frisking Incident

New Delhi, November 14: The US has apologised to former President A P J Abdul Kalam for subjecting him to frisking at New York’s JFK Airport, an incident that had provoked sharp reactions from India which threatened retaliatory action.

In a written apology to Kalam and the Indian government, the US said, “Appropriate procedure for expedited screening of dignitaries had not been followed”.

Ishant Sharma relishing lead role in Zaheer Khan’s absence

Kolkata, November 13: Ishant Sharma is relishing the task of leading India’s pace attack against West Indies in the absence of the injured Zaheer Khan, the 23-year-old paceman said on Sunday.

“It’s an honour when you see yourselves as the senior-most bowler in the team and leading the attack. It’s difficult to express this kind of feeling actually,” Sharma told reporters on the eve of the second test in Kolkata.

Frontline seamer Zaheer needed surgery for ankle and hamstring problems and has yet to make a comeback since his tour of England was cut short due to injury.

Aishwarya admitted to hospital amid tight security

Mumbai, November 13: Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was today admitted to Seven Hills hospital on Sunday amidst tight security.

Aishwarya was accompanied by the entire Bacchan family including her sister-in-law Shweta Nanda.

According to sources, Aishwarya will be transferred to the delivery ward later. Sources added that her delivery is scheduled for November 17, around noon.

The Bacchan family has booked four VVIP rooms on the fifth floor of the Andheri hospital.

Islamabad, November 13: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Sunday struck a positive note on the future of Indo-Pak relations, saying the “trust deficit is zero or it has shrunk to a large extent” after the meeting between two Prime Ministers in Maldives.

When Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh met in the Bhutanese capital of Thimpu in April 2010, they set the goals of reducing the lack of trust and improving the environment to make dialogue possible, Khar told a news conference at the Foreign Office.

Hyderabad, November 13: Targetting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his comments favouring consensus on the Telangana issue, the Telangana leaders of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Sunday alleged that both Congress and TRS have “cheated” the people from the region over the statehood demand.

“Both Congress and TRS have cheated the Telangana people. Congress had promised to deliver a separate state, while TRS claimed that it will get Telangana,” TDP’s Telangana forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao told reporters in Hyderabad.

Plane hits building near Vancouver airport, 1 dead

Vancouver, November 13: A small plane crashed into an apartment building near the Vancouver International Airport on Friday, killing one person and injuring two others, police said.

The twin-engine plane had taken off from the airport on a flight to a nearby community when it hit the ninth floor of the building. It did not spark a fire, but the aircraft”s wreckage remained inside the building, police said.

New Delhi, November 13: Former President AP J Abdul Kalam was twice subjected to frisking at New York’s JFK Airport by US security officials who even took his jacket and shoes to check for explosives, sparking outrage by India which threatened retaliatory action against US dignitaries.

Four killed in Delhi warehouse fire

New Delhi, November 13: Four people, including two children, were burnt to death and two critically injured when a warehouse in central Delhi caught fire Sunday morning, a fire department official said.

The fire broke out in the three-storey warehouse on Asaf Ali Road near Ajmeri Gate. Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused after an hour, according to the official.

Officials suspect an electrical short-circuit could have caused the fire.
