Excitement grips nation over Ash’s baby

Mumbai, November 14: Excitement over soon-to-be- born Baby B reached fever pitch last night when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appeared at the Seven Hills Hospital, in Mumbai.

Contrary to the reports in circulation on 11. 11. 11, which said that the Bachchan bahu was being admitted for delivery, it turned out that it was all but the gossipmongers working over time.

A reported statement from her spokesperson on social sites categorically denied that she was indeed admitted. She was apparently at the hospital for a check-up and left after that.

2 unidentified Muslim bodies found

Hyderabad, November 14: 2 unidentified Muslim bodied were found in Cyberabad area. It is said that an unidentified body of a Muslim man was found under Chaitanyapuri police station limits whose age is said to be 30 to 35 years.

In another incident 50 year old Muslim man was severely injured near Shiv Ganga temple at Maheshvaram who was shifted to the Osmania hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The bodies have been kept in Osmania hospital morgue for identification.

It is said that the accident occurred when 17 year old Shaheen student of B.Pharmacy was going towards a club situated near Himayat Sagar to celebrate her birthday along with some of her friends.

Iran closer to atom bomb than thought: Israel

Jerusalem, November 14: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday the full extent of Iran’s nuclear program was not reflected in a recent UN report, which said that Tehran appeared to have worked on designing an atomic bomb.

“Iran is closer to getting an (atomic) bomb than is thought,” Netanyahu said in remarks to cabinet ministers, quoted by an official from his office.

“Only things that could be proven were written (in the UN report), but in reality there are many other things that we see,” Netanyahu said, according to the official.

SRK to flag off IFFI 2011

Mumbai, November 14: Actor Shahrukh Khan will flag off the 42nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, a senior official said today.

IFFI Director Shankar Mohan said the actor would formally inaugurate the ten-day extravaganza on November 23 at Ravindra Bhavan auditorium in Margao, 40 kms away from here.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni will be the Guest of Honour for the inaugural function, Mohan said, adding the guest for the concluding ceremony is yet to be finalised.

Deoband pushing Muslims hundred years back: Sufi group

New Delhi, November 14: Slamming Darul Uloom Deoband for issuing a fatwa against birthday celebrations, leading Sufi organisation All India Ulema and Mashaikh Board today accused the seminary of trying to push the Muslim community “hundred years back”.

Darul Uloom Deoband had on November 6 advised Muslims against celebrating birthdays, contending in a fatwa that Islam does not permit such a practice which is a “tradition of western countries”.

Rajagopal arrested in mining case

Roads being widened for H’bad Metro

Hyderabad, November 14: For a smooth flow of traffic during the construction of metro rail, the Hyderabad Metro Rail, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, National Highways Authority of India and the state roads buildings department have initiated several preparatory works on priority stretches.

According to HMR managing director NVS Reddy, roads will be barricaded to a width of 26 feet (8 metres) between Nagole and Mettuguda (8 km) on Metro Rail CorridorIII, and between Miyapur and Ameerpet (12 km) on CorridorI from January to start the pillar and viaduct construction works.

‘Pakistan, India must have policy on prisoners’

Islamabad, November 14: Innocent people being arrested on both sides of the Pakistan-India border is not a trivial issue and both countries must “devise a joint policy regarding prisoner exchange”, a Pakistani daily said Monday.

It was indeed appalling that the authorities in India have been “oblivious of some 250 plus Pakistani prisoners languishing in captivity and that too, without ever having faced trial”, an editorial in the Daily Times said.

Sexually abused girl child more prone to stroke

Washington, November 14: Girls who have been sexually or physically abused may be more vulnerable to heart attacks and strokes as adults.

The study conducted by Brigham University found that girls who experienced repeated episodes of forced sex in childhood or adolescence had a 62 percent higher risk of cardiovascular disease as adults.

Severe physical abuse in childhood or adolescence was associated with a 45 percent increased risk of cardiovascular events. Mild to moderate physical or sexual abuse was not associated with increased risk.
