Cricket-Pakistan name Mohsin Khan as interim coach

Karachi, October 05: Pakistan have appointed chief selector Mohsin Khan as interim coach for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is hunting for a new coach after the sudden resignation of Waqar Younis who stepped down for personal reasons after the recent tour of Zimbabwe.

“Mohsin is appointed coach only for the Sri Lanka series until the board completes the process of appointing a new fulltime coach of the national team,” PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar said.

Man raped, killed 60 yr old mother

New Delhi, October 05: A trial court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a 60-year-old lady whom he used to call his mother.

Conviction Achey Lal for murder and rape, Additional Sessions Judge Madhu Jain said, “In the present case, the convict committed forceful sexual intercourse upon a lady older than his age whom he used to call his mother. During that process, he also murdered her.”

New Delhi, October 05: I am delighted to welcome His Excellency the President of Afghanistan, Mr. Hamid Karzai to our country.

President Karzai’s visit takes place soon after my own visit to Afghanistan in May this year. This reflects the tradition of regular high level exchanges that so happily exists between our two countries.

My discussions on October 4, 2011 with President Karzai have once again underlined the importance of a strong and broad based partnership between India and Afghanistan.

Triple murder mystery solved, one held

Hyderabad, October 05: The Rajendera Nagar police on Tuesday solved the mytery behind the murder of a woman Geetha and her 13-year-old son Chandu. However, it turned out to be a triple murder as Geetha’s husband Yadaiah was also found murdered on Monday.

According to police, Yadaiah’s body was found in a water tank behind the Rajendernagar MRO office on Monday. His body bore marks of injuries inflicted with sharp edged weapons. A heavy stone was tied to the body before it was thrown into the tank.

BJP demands white paper on power crisis

Hyderabad, October 05: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreyya on Tuesday demanded that the state government release a white paper on the current power situation in the state.

Talking to media persons at party office in Nampally, Dattatreyya condemned the state government for its failure to supply adequate power to farmers. Telangana agitators arrested for assaulting a cop

Karimnagar, October 05: A former MLA was among 23 Telangana protesters arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

The accused were taking part in an agitation on Saturday at Manthani town near here when the police tried to restrain them and also resorted to baton charge.

Police said the agitators attacked ASI Rajamouli who sustained injuries.

A case was registered against 27 agitators including Chandupatla Ram Reddy, an ex-MLA from the area. Four of the accused were remanded in judicial custody yesterday.

New Delhi, October 05: In a move that will surely lead to another Congress-BJP spat, the Home Ministry on Tuesday decided to take up the matter of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt who is currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat.

A day after Bhatt’s wife Shweta wrote a letter to Home Minister P Chidambaram stating that he apprehends danger to his life from a “vindictive administration”, the Union Home Ministry wrote to the Gujarat government asking it to ensure adequate security to the jailed IPS officer and his family.

Mother forces girl to become prostitute

Melbourne, October 05: A mother allegedly forced her teenage daughter to become prostitute and sex slave. Several cases over multiple sex-offences have been charged against the cruel mother and her partner.

According to sources, the 40-year-old woman kept her under 16 daughter as a slave sex and forced the girl into prostitution for last five years.

The woman lived with her 60-year-old boyfriend in Brisbane and police found 200,000 dollars along with naked photos of the girl and her two young brothers.

Gambling den busted, 22 held

Hyderabad, October 05: The South Zone team of the Commissioner’s Task Force on Tuesday apprehended 22 persons who were playing three cards by conducting a Gaming House at Hafez Baba Nagar in Kachanbagh.

According to police, the main accused Mohd. Mohsinuddin was operating a gambling den from his house for the last one year to recover the losses that he suffered in real estate business. He was allegedly running a common Gaming House three-card (Game of Chance) by gathering his friends and collecting kitty amount from them and thus earning easy money.

TRS might merge with Cong after ‘T’ announcement: Yashki

New Delhi, October 05: Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki on Tuesday stated that there were chances of Telangana Rashtra Samithi merging with the Congress, if the Centre announces a favourable decision on the separate Telangana statehood.

Talking to media persons, Madhu Yashki said that TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao would either merge his TRS or tie up with the Congress in the next elections in the event of Centre announcing a favourable decision on Telangana.
