John Abraham to play gangster

Mumbai, October 06: After playing a cop in Nishikant Kamath`s `Force`, John Abraham is stepping into the grey zone with his character of a dreaded gangster of 70s in `Shoot Out At Wadala`.

The film also marks Sanjay Gupta`s return to direction after a gap of four years. The director is known for making action-thrillers like `Kaante`, `Musafir`, `Zinda`, `Shootout at Lokhandwala`.

Gupta says the dramatic thriller about the gangster Manya Surve will see John go through a major transformation.

Go vegetarian, urges Veena Malik

Mumbai, October 06: Pakistani actress Veena Malik is urging people to give up meat and turn vegetarian as she poses for the new PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) ad campaign.

“I am Veena Malik and I am a vegetarian,” Veena, who shot to fame with her stint in the fourth season of reality show “Bigg Boss”, proudly says in the ad.

The ad marks a worldwide Vegetarian Awareness Month – October.

London, October 06: Rock star and businessman Gene Simmons has admitted that he is a great womaniser who has slept with as many as 4,800 women.

When asked if he has really slept with 4,600 women the rock legend replied, “It’s not true. It’s 4,800.”

Girl who lived with dead grandmom recovering

Shanghai, October 06: A two-year-old girl in China who lived with her dead grandmother for over a week is recovering, a media report said.

The girl’s digestive system was returning to normal after being without food for several days, said Xiao Tao, a doctor in Changsha, capital of Hunan province.

The girl was found Sep 27. She was lying in the arms of her dead grandmother Wang Lichun, reported Shanghai Daily.

The girl was found by her neighbours. She suffered from dehydration, skin infections, wounds.

Farooq denies bribery allegations

Srinagar, October 06: Breaking his silence over the custodial death of a worker of Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference (NC) over allegations of bribery, party patron Farooq Abdullah Thursday denied that he or his party were involved in graft and asked the people to await the outcome of the judicial probe into the incident.

“It is a political stunt by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Let them say what they say,” the union minister said after chairing a meeting at the NC party headquarters here.

Rowdy sheeter held, sword seized

Hyderabad, October 6: Commissioner task force west zone team arrested a dangerous rowdy sheeter Shaikh Hashim alias Hashim belonging to Golconda police station and seized a sword from his possession. It is said that Hashim’s rowdy sheet has been opened in April current year as Hashim along with his three friends had murdered Asad Khan a rowdy sheeter of Langar House in August 2010. He was running a gang since he was released from jail and on October 4 Hashim and his friends assaulted a lorry driver at Mansab tank and robbed him of 21 thousand rupees and a mobile phone.

Qazi suspended for 6 months for performing minor girl’s Nikah

Hyderabad, October 6: State government suspended Qazi of Qila Mohammad nagar for performing Nikah of a minor girl with a Sudani student. A Go RT no 248 dated 05-10-2011 signed by secretary Minority Welfare department Mr. Mohammad Ali Rafath was issued in this connection. It was stated in the Go that the government has learnt that Qazi Shakeeluddin alias Shakeel with the help of his assistant Syed Abdul Malik performed Nikah of Miss Nausheen Begum aged 16 years with a Sudani student Syed Abdul Malik. Top Taliban commander killed in U.S. drone attack in Pakistan

Islamabad, October 06: Top Taliban commander Halimullah has been killed along with three other militants in a U.S. drone strike in South Waziristan tribal region in Pakistan.

Halimullah was an important leader of Taliban faction led by Maulvi Nazeer and his death is a “huge loss” for Ahmadzai Wazir militants operating in South Waziristan Agency, Taliban sources were quoted as saying by The News daily on Thursday.

The dead commander belonged to the Tujikhel sub-tribe of the Ahmadzai Wazirs and led a group of 300 armed fighters.

KCR, Kodandaram blamed for crop loss

Hyderabad, October 06: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has squarely blamed TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Political JAC Chairman M. Kodandaram for the crop loss suffered by farmers due to power shortage in Telangana and elsewhere in the State.

Of the 74 lakh acres irrigated under borewells in the State, 60 per cent lie in Telangana and these crops were on the verge of withering away due to the actions of KCR and Prof. Kodandaram. They were bent on creating a power crisis in the State, he said warning them that people facing severe hardships would denounce their actions.

Youth climbs upon cell phone tower in protest

Hyderabad, October 6: Dejected over the delay in formation of separate Telangana state a youth climbed onto a cell phone tower. However police intervened in time and made him get down. The incident occurred at Sagar Ring Road where 24 year old Praveen Kumar climbed onto a 150 feet high cell phone tower and threatened of suicide. A large crowd gathered there. Heavy police force also reached there and made him alight. Later the youth was shifted to jail.

My husband is being treated like a ‘terrorist’, says Sanjiv Bhatt’s wife

Ahmedabad, October 06: The wife of arrested IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who had testified against Narendra Modi in the post-Godhra riots case, has written a second letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram alleging that her husband was being treated like a “terrorist” by the Gujarat police.

Rail traffic disrupted on Howrah-Delhi route

Etawah, October 06: Rail traffic on the Howrah-Delhi route was Thursday disrupted after a crack was detected on the railway track near Bhupat Sarai railway station, a senior officer said here.

The crack was detected between the upline Bhupat Sarai and Etawah railway stations this morning after which three trains including Gomti and Mahabodi were stopped, station manager P K Kamal said.

He said the repair work was being carried out and is likely to be completed soon.

No Hot Spot for India-England ODI series

Hyderbad, October 06: Hot Spot technology will be not be in use dduring the forthcoming five match One-day series between India and England that begins here Oct 14.

Warren Brennan, the chief executive of BBG Sports the company behind the technology, admitted Hot Spot did not perform to expectations during India’s just-concluded tour of England and felt it did not have Indian cricket board’s support for its use.

The BCCI and BBG Sports had reached an agreement earlier in the year to use Hot Spot for India’s home series.

Man brutally murdered

Hyderabad, October 6 (Siasat News): A man was brutally strangulated to death in KPHB by some unidentified persons.

According to police, the dead body of Bala Raju, 32, resident of Ashok Nagar was recovered from a slum where the body was tied with metal wires with a slit throat.

Police suspect that someone might have killed him for personal enmity. The deceased was a centering labour and most of the time found under the influence of alcohol.

There were complaints that the Haj pilgrims who reached Jeddah earlier did not write these details on their luggage which caused a lot of inconvenience. Mumbai, October 06: Eyebrows were raised when Bollywood’s girl-next-door Prachi Desai was signed on for the racy thriller Jannat 2, opposite serial kisser Emraan Hashmi.

But tabloid! has learnt that Desai was shown the door when she refused to do explicit sex scenes. She has now been replaced by Delhi-based model Esha Gupta.
