No President rule, Despite longest strike, public patience is praiseworthy

Hyderabad, October 07: (Shahabuddin Hashmi’s Report) In the wake of Telangana stir reaching its peak, some people think that there is a likelihood of President’s rule in the state. According to a senior IAS officer, President’s rule is not possible because there is no law and order problem due to Telangana agitation. If violence bursts out in a large scale and if the police is unable to contain it, then there is a possibility of President’s rule.

Delhi blast case: NIA arrests Kashmiri medical student

New Delhi, October 07: NIA has arrested a Kashmiri medical student who is alleged to be a ‘key link’ in the conspiracy behind the Delhi High Court blast last month that left 15 people dead and over 80 injured.

Wasim Ahmed, a student of Unani medicine in Bangaldesh, was being questioned by the NIA in connection with the blast, official sources said.

There was no official word on whether Wasim was arrested near the Indo-Bangla border or the authorities in Dhaka had handed him over.

Ten years of Modi rule in Gujarat

New Delhi, October 07: Narendra Modi completed 10 years as Gujarat Chief Minister on Friday.

The main opposition BJP is organizing several programmes to mark ten years of Modi’s rule, who took oath as Chief Minister on 7 October, 2001 in Gandhinagar. He replaced the then Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel who was asked to step down by the BJP central leadership.

Since then, he has won two Assembly polls with 2/3rd majority in Gujarat, and three Assembly polls personally contesting from Rajkot, Maninagar and Maninagar.

Telangana strike enters 25th day

Hyderabad, October 07: The general strike in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh entered its 25th day Friday as the impasse continues over the demand for a separate state.

Government employees, teachers, workers in Singareni coal mines and Road Transport Corporation (RTC) are continuing their strike to press the central government to initiate the formation of a separate Telangana state.

With the centre seeking more time to resolve the issue, an early end to the strike is not in sight.

Police recover 1,381 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen from Muthoot branch

Tripura, October 07: The police have recovered 1,381 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen from Muthoot Mini Finance Private Limited here, exactly 11 days after the heist.

The district police have arrested six persons from whom they recovered the jewellery. They also recovered Rs.45,000 out of the Rs.2.5 lakh stolen by the gang on September 24. Three others, including T. Venkatesan, mastermind of the robbery and former employee of the firm, are yet to be nabbed.

Leading ladies of Kya Kool ……finalised

New Delhi, October 07: Actresses Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias have been picked as the leading ladies of Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor-starrer “Kya Super Kool Hai Hum”, a sequel to 2005 comedy film “Kya Kool Hai Hum”.

Neha has earlier featured in “Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad” while Sarah was seen in “Dum Maaro Dum”.

“Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias have been cast opposite @Riteishd and me in our ‘Kya Super Kool Hai Hum’!” Tusshar posted on his Twitter page.

Riteish confirmed the development too, and said he is excited to work with the beauties.

IIT Hyderabad in Medak district

Hyderabad, October 07: Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has laid foundation stone for IIT Buildings in Kandhi village in Medak district on Thursday. The project is estimated around Rs. 400 crores and it will be named as IIT Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion CM Kiran Kumar Reddy has said “Students and parents should understand that showing interest in Engineering and Medicine only is not advisable and you have to think about the other courses too.”

Why Governor summoned to Delhi?

Hyderabad, October 07: Center has summoned Governor Narasimhan to New Delhi. It already had meetings with Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana.

Since, KCR & Co., has bluntly refused to end their general strike until a favorable announcement is made on Telangana issue, the Center is said to be preparing to impose President’s Rule on the state to bring normalcy.

Woman drugged, raped by friend

New Delhi, October 07 : A 32-year-old married woman was raped by a friend with whom she went out to see Durga Puja celebrations. The friend drugged her and raped her in his car, police said Thursday.

The friend is absconding.

The victim, a native of Panipat in Haryana, was staying with her husband in Rohini Sector 24 in north Delhi. Her husband, an apple trader, had gone on a business trip to Himachal Pradesh.

Kuala Lumpur, October 07: A judge on Thursday quashed subpoenas ordering Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife to testify in the sodomy trial of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

The ruling by High Court Judge Zabidin Mohamed Diah removes the prospect of a sensational court appearance by Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor, whom Anwar says are behind what he calls bogus charges.

As chairperson of the UPA, Sonia Gandhi is the Supreme Leader but without the responsibility for day to day governance. Engagement with Pakistan will continue: US

Washington, October 07: A State Department official on Thursday said that the US would continue to work to improve its relationship with Pakistan.

“As we’ve said many times over the last couple of days and weeks, we are engaged intensively with Pakistan at all levels. That engagement will continue,” the State Department spokesperson, Victoria Nuland, told reporters at her daily news conference.

The Special US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Marc Grossman, will be there in Islamabad for talks with the top Pakistani leadership over the weekend.

New Delhi, October 07: A court in Ahmedabad will decide on Indian Police Service officer Sanjeev Bhatt’s bail plea on Friday. The court had on Wednesday rejected the Gujarat government’s application opposing bail to Bhatt and begun hearing his bail plea.

Sessions court Judge V K Vyas had adjourned the hearing on Bhatt’s bail till October 7 after partly hearing arguments of Bhatt’s lawyer I H Sayed.

The Gujarat government had on Tuesday moved an application opposing the hearing of Bhatt’s bail plea on the grounds that his revision remand application was pending.

Ishrat case: SIT may seek more time for probe

Ahmedabad, October 07: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case is expected to ask for more time to finish its conclusive report.

The SIT is likely to make the request when the case comes up for hearing in the Gujarat High court on Friday.

BMW to launch under-1,000cc bikes

New Delhi, October 07: The German auto major BMW, which entered the domestic market early this year with as many as six models in the two-wheeler segment, plans to launch under-1,000-cc bikes by January.

“We will launch bikes below 1,000 cc in the domestic market in January,” Navnit Motors Managing Director Sharad Kachalia told PTI here.

BMW Motorrad, the superbikes division of the German luxury carmaker, does not have direct presence in the country.

Ravana burning leads to girl’s death of Class 1

New Delhi, October 07: A seven-year-old girl died of critical injuries after a burning log from a Ravana effigy in flames fell on her at Ramlila Maidan here, police said Thursday.

The log fell on Bhavya Gupta as she along with her parents was watching the Dussehra celebrations at the ground, police said.

“We received a call at around 7.15 p.m. A few people got injured but the girl was critically injured,” a fire brigade official told IANS.

She was rushed to Lok Nayak Hospital. The other injured people were discharged after first aid, the official said.
