Hyderabad, October 07: T JAC has given call for Rail Roko on 9th 10th and 11th of October all over Telangana. TRS leaders like Harish Rao has warned the state government not to indulge with their Rail Roko program otherwise face consequences. He said “The jails in Telangana region would be not enough to put the Telangana people who come for Rail Roko. If an FIR is filed by the police against anyone, he/she should be proud of it and consider it as a certificate for their struggle.

Goa mining scam worth Rs.25,000 crore: BJP

Panaji, October 07:The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday alleged that several senior Congress leaders, including Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, were beneficiaries of a Rs.25,000 crore illegal mining scam over the last two years.

Kirit Somaiya, BJP national secretary, added that a senior Congress leader from the party headquarters in New Delhi was also involved in the scam.

When the bride spent her wedding night in police cell

London, October 07: A Briton, who had just got married, spent her wedding night in a police cell as she was arrested for attacking her neighbour.

The row broke out after Imogen Hope, who was still wearing her wedding gown, returned home from the reception with her new husband Keith.

Imogen lunged at Samantha Pilling and rained blows on her before being pulled away. They have a long-running dispute, The Sun reported.

Police came and they offered her a change of clothes before they took her away.

She refused.

Mumbai, October 07: Former beauty queen and actress Gul Panag, who feels Bipasha Basu and Akshay Kumar are Bollywood’s fitness icons, says girls should stop running behind size zero and simply focus on being fit.

“I don’t understand the relationship between size zero and a fit body. Fitness is that if your car breaks down and you can easily walk four to five km without tiring out, or if you can pick a heavy bag without complaining about your back… fitness is not necessarily about being skinny, ” Gul told reporters here.

The 32-year-old also gave out some fitness tips.

India have the ability to bounce back: Kirsten

New Delhi, October 07: Former India coach Gary Kirsten was surprised at the disappointing show of Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s men in the recent tour of England, which saw them lose the world number one Test spot, but said they are good enough to bounce back.

In what turned out to be a disastrous tour for India, they were blanked 0-4 in the four-match Test series, while lost 0-3 in the five-match ODI series by England.

England are now in India for five-match one-day contest, which begins on October 14 in Hyderabad.

Woman Kills Five Children, Commits Suicide

Lucknow, October 07: A woman poisoned her five minor children and then took her own life in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, police said Friday. She was evidently depressed over declining relations with her policeman husband.

“In a suicide note, the woman has alleged her husband was a drunkard and used to assault her and their three daughters and two sons,” police inspector Ghanshyam Pandey told reporters in Banda, some 250 km from Lucknow.

Nobel Peace Prize goes to three women

Oslo, October 07: The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on Friday to Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen for their work on women’s rights.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee honoured the three women “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work”.

Johnson Sirleaf, 72, is a Harvard-trained economist who became Africa’s first democratically elected female president in 2005.

She faces a presidential poll this month.

Mumbai, October 07: Actors Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda, who gave some up, close and personal shots including a kiss for “Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster”, feel there’s no big deal about intimate scenes.

Rowdy sheeter Khal Nayak arrested

Vijayawada, October 07: The Payakapuram police and the Task Force sleuths arrested rowdy sheeter Khal Nayak alias Katta Venugopal on the charge of abetting the suicide of a destitute couple in the New Rajarajesweripet area recently.

RTC incurs Rs. 8 crore loss daily strike causes in convenience to public

Hyderabad, October 07: RTC employees’ strike is causing a loss of Rs. 8 crore daily. Management of RTC made some arrangements for transporting people going to their native places for celebrating Dussehra by commissioning buses from other places. Mr. Prasada Rao, M.D. of RTC told that alternate arrangements were made to save the passengers from the inconvenience caused by RTC employees’ strike.

Regional managers also made their efforts to facilitate the passengers by hiring private buses. Strike is successful in all the 11 regions of ten Telangana districts.

Telangana won’t be formed through strike: Rajagopal

2002 Riots: Court Issues Summons to 2 British Envoys

Ahmedabad, October 07: A special court, hearing a post-Godhra riot case where four persons including three British nationals were killed in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, has summoned two former British envoys to depose before it through video conferencing on November 23.

Special judge Geeta Gopi of Sabarkantha court issued summons to former Deputy British High Commissioners to India, Ian Reakes and Howard Parkinson, asking them to depose before the court via video conferencing next month.
