Four ministers remain absent from cabinet meeting

Hyderabad, October 30: In the cabinet meeting which was convened after a lapse of four and a half months, four ministers remained absent. Two ministers from Seema Andhra wishwaroop & G. Aruna Kumari and two ministers form Telangana K. Jana Reddy and P. Laxmaiah remained absent from the cabinet meeting. Dr. Shanker Rao came and signed the attendance register and later on he went away without attending the meeting. Mr. Wishwaroop has gone to attend the funeral of one of his close relative whereas Ms. G. Aruna Kumari didn’t attend cabinet meeting because she is suffering from viral fever.

Jobs for 1 lakh youths

Hyderabad, October 30: Tribal welfare minister Mr. P. Balaraju told today that by the end of this year, Govt. proposes to provide one lakh Jobs to youths. He told this while inaugurating ‘Rajiv Yuva Kannalu’ Job fair organized by Millenium Software Solutions at Andhra University Vishakapatnam.

The basic purpose of this scheme is to provide jobs to the youths in I.T., B.P.O, Pharmacy, Healthcare, Hospitality and Automotive sectors. Various companies conducted interviews for 35,000 candidates.

In all 106 companies are participating in this job fair.

Protesters against Polavaram Project arrested

Hyderabad, October 30: Police took into custody 51 persons who were protesting against the construction of Polavaram Project. These include students of Osmania University, members of JAC of Telangana. The protesters were proceeding from Khammam & West Godavari towards the site of the project. They were detained as a precautionary measure.

Inter Exam from March 2, SSC from March 26

Hyderabad, October 30: Hoping that the syllabus of SSC (10th class) and Intermediate courses will be completed by January next, the state government on Saturday announced the schedule of SSC (Secondary School Certificate) and Intermediate public examinations of March 2012.

It decided to conduct the SSC examinations from March 26 to April 11, 2012 and the Intermediate examinations from March 2 to 21. Practical examinations will be held from February 3 to 24.

The time table for Intermediate vocational course examination will be issued separately.

Students’ bus passes will be valid on holidays too

Hyderabad, October 30: From now on the students’ bus passes will be valid under the limits of Greater Hyderabad on holidays too such as second Saturday, Sunday and other holidays.

The said information is given in a press release issued by the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation. According to the press release the educational institutions’ administrations have decided to keep the educational institutions open on holidays in order to complete the syllabus in time since the educational institutions had remained closed due to general strike.

Urdu (oriental) Pre-PhD exams

Hyderabad, October 30: According to the press notification issued by the Controller of examinations Osmania University the Pre PhD exams of Urdu (oriental) earlier scheduled to be conducted during the current month had been postponed due to Telangana agitation which will now be conducted on November 14 and 16.

Candidates are requested to approach Faculty of Oriental Languages Osmania University or their respective supervisors as early as possible.

MLA dies of heart stroke

Mahabubnagar, October 30: Mahabubnagar MLA Rajeswar Reddy (55) has died during the early hours of today, possibly due to a massive heart stroke. He was elected to the Assembly as an independent candidate in the 2009 general election. He has later joined the Congress and was continuing as an associate member. He is survived by wife and a daughter.

Amar Singh to be discharged from AIIMS today

New Delhi, October 30: Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh will reportedly be discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Sunday.

The Rajya Sabha MP, who was arrested in the cash-for-vote scandal, was given bail on humanitarian ground on October 24.

Singh was admitted in the hospital due to a kidney problem.

The Delhi High Court had asked Amar Singh, who underwent a renal transplant in September 2009 and intestinal surgery 10 years ago, to furnish surety and personal bonds of Rs 50 lakh each.

Lokpal Bill: Pranab meets Parliament panel chief

3 Cong MLAs may join TRS over Telangana

Hyderabad, October 30: At least three Congress MLAs from Telangana region are likely to join Telangana Rashtra Samiti, a move which will deepen the crisis in the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh over the separate statehood issue.

Protesting Congress’ dilly-dallying on the separate statehood issue, MLAs Jupally Krishna Rao from Kollapur in Mahbubnagar district, S Satyanarayana from Ramagundam in Karimnagar and T Rajaiah from Station Ghanpur in Warangal on Saturday said they are ready to resign from the party in a day or two.

Centre to set up 60 para-legal centres in naxal hit districts

Hyderabad, October 30: Union Minister for Rural Development, Drinking Water and Sanitation Jairam Ramesh announced that the Centre would set up para-legal centres in each of the 60 left-wing extremists affects districts in the country.

Addressing an international conference on ‘Para-legal models to resolve land problems of the poor and tribals in India’ at Nalsar University of Law at Shamirpet here on Saturday, he said that the steps would be taken to solve the land related issues with the help of the para-legal centres in those districts.

Lok Satta to mobilize farmers

US no authority to challenge Iran Navy

Tehran, October 30: A senior Iranian naval commander says the Americans are not in the position to comment on Iran’s presence in international waters and the country’s naval fleets will continue to sail the high seas.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Saturday that all countries can be present in international waters based on global regulations.

“Their (US) reaction to Iran’s presence in international waters is as if Iran’s Army has never sailed the high seas,” Fars News Agency quoted the Iranian commander.

Saudi woman sentenced to 15 years for Qaeda links

Riyadh, October 30: Saudi Arabia says that a special tribunal has sentenced a Saudi women to 15 years in prison on terrorism-linked charges including aiding al Qaeda cells and insurgents seeking to enter Iraq.

The official Saudi Press Agency says the woman sought to “commit terrorist attacks” in the kingdom, financed anti-state groups with more than 1 million riyals ($266,000) and provided communications equipment. The woman also was convicted of helping issue forged IDs to people seeking to join the insurgency in Iraq.

Mumbai, October 30: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today saw a conspiracy in the fake Twitter profile of Amitabh Bachchan saying it was an attempt to defame the actor by posting negative comments about Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Ra.One”.

“I see a conspiracy to defame Bachchan, who is the last king (Shahenshah) of Bollywood,” Thackeray, a close friend of the megastar, said in today’s editorial of the Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ and also sought Bharat Ratna for Bachchan. At the same time, Thackeray dubbed Shah Rukh as “self-proclaimed Nishan-e-Pakistan”.

No timeframe to resolve T issue: Azad

New Delhi, October 30: Congress in-charge of state affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday reiterated that there was no exact time frame to resolve the the Telangana statehood issue.
