Love maniacs kill 2 girls in single day

Hyderabad, October 30: Despite the encounter killing of three youngsters who poured acid on two engineering students, leading to the death of one of the girls in Warangal district not long ago, love-maniacs continue to kill innocent girls. On a single day on Saturday, two innocent lives were snuffed by maniacs in two districts.

Over 5,000 children raped, another 1,408 murdered in 2010: Report

New Delhi, October 30:As many as 5,484 children were sexually assaulted and 1,408 others killed in different parts of the country last year, according to a government report.

Giving a gloomy picture about the crimes committed against children, the latest National Crime Records Bureau data says 10,670 children were also kidnapped or abducted during the year in various states and Union territories.

In Uttar Pradesh, 315 children were killed while 1,182 children were sexually assaulted in Madhya Pradesh during the period — the highest in the two categories of crimes.

Three Telangana MLAs quit Congress

Hyderabad, October 30: The Congress party suffered a major jolt on Sunday after three MLAs from the Telangana region submitted their resignations from the party.

Former minister and Kollapur MLA Jupally Krishna Rao, Station Ghanpur MLA Tadikonda Rajaiah and Ramagundem MLA Somarapu Satyanarayana resigned from the party’s membership. The trio faxed their resignation letters to Congress president Sonia Gandhi​ and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana.

Woman arrested for trying to hire a hit man

New Jersey, October 30: A New Jersey woman is accused of attempting to hire a hit man to kill her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend.

Nicole Faccenda, 42, was arrested after the hit man turned out to be an undercover agent. Law enforcement officials said that she asked a friend in Florida to find someone to carry out the hit, but the friend called the police.

Anna ‘ungrateful’ for denying RSS links, Digvijay tweets

New Delhi, October 30: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh Sunday took a dig at Anna Hazare and his team members, wondering if they were being “ungrateful” to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) by denying its reported support to their anti-graft protest.

“Baba Ramdev is being more honest about the support of RSS to their campaign. Haven’t understood why Anna is denying. Ungrateful,” Singh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

On Saturday, Singh had slammed spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for releasing BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s book.

Chilla desecrated: Mild tension prevailed in Musheerabad

Hyderabad, October 30: Mild tension prevailed in Musheerabad on Saturday when some miscreants desecrated Chilla Ghous-e-Azam dastageer and tried to burn it. It is said that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday. Seeing this, the local Muslims started building a wall around it. As the miscreants learned about this they shouted slogans opposing it. Hyderabad, October 30: Welcoming the Andhra Pradesh High Court order to enforce uniform fee structure in professional colleges, Greater Hyderabad Congress party leader Feroze Khan demanded that the government take measures to enforce uniform fee structure in schools also.

In a verdict High court on Saturday scrapped the management quota of seats in professional colleges and set aside the uniform fee structure in force now. Professional colleges will henceforth be allowed to charge tuition fees as befits their facilities and standards.

Saudis swear allegiance to Crown Prince

Riyadh, October 30: Senior Princes and ministers, the Grand Mufti, Ulema, officials and thousands of Saudi citizens flocked to Al-Hukum Palace in Riyadh Saturday to swear allegiance to Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz.

Prince Naif, who served as Interior Minister for nearly four decades and led a crackdown on Al-Qaeda in the Kingdom, was named in a Royal Decree on Thursday to succeed Prince Sultan who died last week and was buried in Riyadh.

Spl counter for job seekers at CM’s camp office

Hyderabad, October 30: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday directed the officials to set up a special counter to help the unemployed youth to register their names under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu. He issued the directions after nearly 150 unemployed MBA and BTech students contacted him seeking jobs at his camp office.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government launched Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu to enhance skills of unemployed youth by providing training and help them to secure jobs.

Free medicines at all government hospitals soon

Hyderabad, October 30: Universal Access to Medicines and Surgicals, a pilot project to ensure 100 percent availability of medicines and surgicals in all government hospitals and facilities to all patients, will be launched in three districts _ Adilabad, Chittoor and Srikakulam— in December.

All medicines and surgicals will be provided free of cost and no patient will be required to go to a private pharmacy to buy any medicine or surgical item. Before the scheme is launched, vacancies of doctors and pharmacists in hospitals will be filled up on contract basis.

Graveyard caretaker desecrating female bodies in Karachi

Islamabad, October 30: A graveyard caretaker has been arrested in Karachi on charges of “sexually desecrating” female bodies, a media report said Sunday.

Riyaz, the 28-year-old caretaker of Paposh graveyard, was detained after his appalling crimes were exposed following a tip-off. The burial ground is located in a Karachi suburb.

He confessed to his crimes during interrogation, Daily Times reported quoting station house officer (SHO) of North Nazimabad, Asim Siddiqui.
