Boy killed for having affair with upper caste girl

Lucknow, September 12:Falling in love with an upper caste girl proved fatal for a youth who was brutally killed and one of his eyes gouged out in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad district, about 125 km from here.

According to police sources, the body of the youth identified as Rehan Ahmed, a resident of Khandpipra village in the district, was recovered from near a graveyard, a few hundred metres away from the village, on Saturday.

SC to decide Modi’s fate on Monday: Gulbarg Society case

New Delhi, September 12: The Supreme Court on Monday is likely to decide whether Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s role should be probed in the 2002 Gulbarg Society case. Sixty nine people, including Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, were killed by a rioting mob in Ahmedabad on February 28, 2002.

In February, the SIT team headed by former CBI Chief RK Radhavan submitted a 600 page report in sealed envelope to the Supreme Court. CNN-IBN and Tehelka had accessed its details. The report posed several embarrassing questions for Modi, but said the evidence was not strong enough to prosecute him.

Minister ,Mla salary rise by 1000%

Bhopal,September 12 :The salaries and perks drawn by the legislators from Madhya Pradesh has recorded a rise of 1000% percent during the last 15 years in stark contrast with the pension assigned to the elderly living under poverty line, sources said.

With the development funds sanctioned for the law-makers going up by 300 per cent, the old living below the poverty line still get a pension of only Rs 275 per month, they said.

Of the measly sum of Rs 275, the state government’s contribution is Rs 75, while the remaining Rs 200 comes from the Centre.

CM orders probe into tribals’ murder

Hyderabad, September 12: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday ordered probe into death of two tribals who were allegedly killed for practicing witchcraft at Vissapuram village in Bhadrachalam mandal in Khammam district.

CBI continue raids in Gali’s mining case

Hyderabad, September 12: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday conducted searches at the residences of two close aides of former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, who has been arrested in connection with a case of illegal mining.

Eamcet phase-II: 1.6 Lakh seats remain vacant

Hyderabad, September 12: The end of admissions for Eamcet 2011 has sent private engineering colleges into a panic mode as the second phase of counselling hardly made any difference on the number of students enrolled.
Out of the 59,610 students, who exercised their options in the second phase, 15,028 fresh allotments were made.

At the end of second phase of engineering counselling on Saturday, the number of unfilled seats continues to be 84,971 putting a large number of engineering colleges in a tight spot.

College girl gang-raped

Bhadrachalam, September 12: A girl studying graduation in a college in Khammam was gang-raped while she was going to her relatives’ house at Jaggaram village in an autorickshaw on Friday night.

According to the police, the girl who boarded a bus in Khammam, reached Manuguru around 11 pm.

She hired the autorickshaw to go to Jaggaram, which is 8 km away from Manuguru.

It was alleged that the auto driver and three of his friends who boarded the vehicle, gangraped her in the Gottela forest area.
The victim lodged a complaint in Yeturunagaram police station on Saturday.

Four days back when I got the Agenda papers (for the meeting of National Integration Council), I was little bemused to see the question marks after every item of the agenda circulated. What I tried to understand and speculate, was the confusion about the communal harmony, discrimination and civil disturbances in the minds of the government functionaries. War on terror not over

London, September 11: Former British prime minister Tony Blair says that even though “significant blows” have been struck in the war against terror, “it’s not over”.

Blair said it was “deeply naive” to believe the response of the West had radicalised extremist Muslim factions.

“It is not because of something we’re doing to them. They believe in what they believe in because they believe their religion compels them to believe in it,” the Daily Express quoted the former prime minister as saying.

He said the terror threat would take some time to be defeated.
