Israel warns PA of harsh consequences

Gaza, September 14: Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has warned of what he calls harsh consequences if the Palestinian Authority goes ahead with its plan to seek UN membership as an independent state.

Lieberman, who is known for his extremist anti-Palestinian stance, however, failed to mention what the threatened consequences might be.

Kabul clashes injure three US soldiers

Kabul, September 14: The US-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement on Wednesday that six ISAF servicemen were wounded in Taliban’s attacks on Tuesday. Three US soldiers were among those wounded, a Press TV correspondent reported.

On Wednesday, the top commander for NATO and US forces in Afghanistan said the Kabul attacks left 27 people dead.

US Marine Corps Gen. John Allen said 11 Afghan civilians, more than half of them children, and five Afghan police officers were killed after militants attacked the US Embassy and NATO headquarters in the heart of Kabul.

ICET counselling postponed

Hyderabad, September 14: The second phase of counselling for Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for admission into MBA and MCA courses has been postponed.

According to ICET Convener Raghunath, the counselling which was scheduled to begin from Wednesday has been cancelled due to the on-going general strike of Telangana employees. He said the new dates for counselling would be announced later.

Hyderabad not affected by Telangana strike

Hyderabad, September 14: The administration remained paralysed in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday as the indefinite strike by over 400,000 government employees continued for the second day. Delivery of civic services was hit in 10 districts of Telangana as employees stayed away from work to demand formation of separate Telangana state.

The ‘people’s strike’ called by Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) did not have much impact in Hyderabad, but was total in districts like Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Adilabad.

Man ends life for being fired from the job

Hyderabad, September 14: A man distraught over being sacked hanged himself to death. The incident occurred under Uppal police station limits. According to police sources 42 year old Srinivas Rao who was said to be the resident of Uppal was an employer of a courier company. He had been fired from the job 15 days ago since then he was suffering from mental trauma. For fear of lending up in financial crisis the man hanged himself to death. Police has registered a case and investigations are on.
