Drunken Saudi man molest sales woman

Dubai, September 22: A drunk Saudi businessman allegedly molested a Chinese sales woman at the entrance of her building, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Wednesday.

According to the prosecution, the incident took place on June 30 at the entrance of the victim’s building. The victim identified as YA, testified that at around 2.30pm when she was at the entrance of her building, she was shocked when someone came from the back and touched her at an inappropriate place.

GHMC employees withdraw from general strike

Hyderabad, September 22: Over 26,000 employees of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday resumed their duties by exempting emergency services from the on-going ‘Sakala Janula Samme’.

The GHMC employees connected with health and sanitation wing joined the general strike from Tuesday midnight in protest against the arrest of union leaders who participated in a protest demanding separate Telangana. However, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu held an hour-long meeting with the union leaders on Thursday and convinced them to resume their duties.

Rs.1 rice won’t affect YSR schemes

Hyderabad, September 22: Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy claimed that Rs one kilo rice scheme would not overshadow the populist schemes initiated by former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Addressing a press conference at J-Block Conference Hall in the State Secretariat here on Thursday, Raghuveera Reddy said that the new scheme would help over two crore poor families in the state. “It is being started with an intention to promote the welfare of the poor,” he said.

Warangal, September 22: Penuka Venkatram Narsaiah is extremely agitated as he’s unable to get his daily life going. A helpless Shekaraiah, a daily wage-earner in a small cement unit in Narsampet in Warangal district, is picture of despair.

“We have run out of essential commodities. Not a single RTC bus has entered our village in the last three days. There has been no transportation to 67 villages in the Narsampet division,” Narsaiah rues. Though he looks forlorn in his small house in Kothaguda village, Narsaiah, however, brightens up the minute the T-word is mentioned.

Teen held after girl’s abduction

Bolton, September 22: An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction and sexual assault after a girl went missing for more than three hours in Bolton.

A six-year-old girl was reported missing in Tonge Moor on Wednesday at 19:45 BST, when she failed to return home with her brother, aged eight.

She was later found near Bolton Royal Hospital at 23:10 BST, police said.

The teeenager is being held in custody. Greater Manchester Police said it was an “isolated incident”.

Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi dead

New Delhi, September 22: India’s cricket legend Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, who personified style on and off the cricket field, died here Thursday after battling lung infection for about a month. He was 70.

The former Indian captain, who was admitted to the Sir Gangaram Hospital here, is survived by his wife, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and three children – daughters Soha and Saba and son Saif.

Sharmila Tagore, son Saif and partner Kareena Kapoor– both popular Bollywood actors- and daughter Saba were by his side when he breathed his last, doctors at the hospital told IANS.

2G: PM supports Chidambaram

New Delhi, September 22: Home Minister P Chidambaram has talked to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over phone amid questions being raised on his role in the controversial 2G spectrum allocation.

The PM is currently in the United States to attend the UN General Assembly meet.

Sources said that Chidambaram had called up Manmohan Singh yesterday night and talked for more than 20 minutes over the issue. The Prime Minister is believed to have expressed full faith in the integrity of the former finance minister and that he was ready to say this.

New Delhi, September 22: A fresh report produced by the CBI says that the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition was actually funded by foreign-based right-wing outfits.

According to a senior CBI official, some foreign-based right-wing organisations provided substantial funding to sustain the mass movement. A considerable part of the funds was routed through the hawala channel. “The actual amount spent on the movement was higher,” a source said.

Hyderabad, September 22: The 9th day of the ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ (people’s strike) that Telangana state government employees began on September 13 in support of a separate state, the sanitation wing staff of the GHMC joined the strike even as the state government struggled to cope with the worsening power crisis.

And with the power crisis worsening and the public transport in the Telangana region continuing to be hit, junior doctors in government hospitals too joined in the strike on Wednesday.

Doctor shot dead at Jagatgeergutta

Hyderabad, September 22: Some unidentified persons shot and killed a doctor late night at Jagatgeergutta. It is said that the attackers entered the clinic of 40 year old Sagar who was an RMP practitioner by occupation, impersonating to be patients and shot him dead. The incident created flutter in the entire area. On receipt of information various teams of police reached the spot. The police told that the doctor was receiving threatening calls by some unidentified persons demanding money.

Veiled Muslim woman wants to be France’s President

Paris, September 22: A Frenchwoman who wears an Islamic face veil, despite a nationwide ban, wants to run for president in next year’s elections.

In an interview, Kenza Drider said she wants to defend the rights of all French women.

She is among a group of women mounting an attack on the law that has banned Muslim face veils from the streets of France since April. They want to prove the measure contravenes fundamental rights.

The law’s backers, including President Nicolas Sarkozy, say the veils imprison women.

2-day auto bandh from tomorrow

Hyderabad, September 22: Auto rickshaw owners’ welfare association has announced a 2-day auto bandh in twin cities from September 23 to express solidarity with the government employees’ strike.

Association leaders Mohammad Amanullah Khan and M A Saleem told that auto drivers will take part in the rally to be taken out from Baghlingampally to Indira park on September 25.
