After ‘sadbhavna’ fast, Modi plans massive rally

Ahmedabad, September 23: First a ‘sadbhavna’ fast, and now plans of a massive rally. Narendra Modi is flexing some serious political muscle.

The Gujarat Chief Minister will hold a mega rally – his partymen promise it will be “the mother of all rallies” – on Sunday, September 25. The slogan of the rally: “Anyaya Hatao, Gujarat Bachao” (Get rid of injustice, save Gujarat).

Mr Modi claims around five lakh people will take part in it, including senior BJP leaders like LK Advani. It will be held on Behgaon Road between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.

Next stage in agitation is violence: Kodhandaram

Hyderabad, September 23: Telangana Political JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram warned of violence if the Centre and State Government fails to take a favourable decision on statehood for Telangana.

Addressing a rally organised by JAC of Telangana Employees Teachers, Gazetted Officers and Workers at Gruha Kalpa here on Friday, Prof Kodandaram said that the government should be thankful that the Telangana agitation has been peaceful, so far. However, he warned, that if Telangana activists resort to violence then no one from the Seemandhra region would be allowed to stay in the region.

Legendary cricketer Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi laid to rest

New Delhi, September 23: Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, one of India’s greatest cricket captains ever and whose flair and acumen inspired a generation of cricketers, was laid to rest at his native village in Pataudi on Friday.

He was buried within the Pataudi town, next to his parents’ graves. Some broke into tears, some managed to hold them back. As camera crews and journalists captured his last journey, former cricketers, politicians and friends gathered at his native village to bid adieu to India’s first superstar cricketer.

NTR statue demolished in Warangal

Warangal, September 23: Telangana agitations are gradually taking violent turn with the each passing day. Today, some TRS workers have damaged late NTR statue at Narsampet in Warangal district. Some TRS workers have tried to attack T-TDP forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao and his team, who sat for one day Deeksha at Palakurti. TRS has also tried to attack TDP leaders Motkupalli Narasimhulu and Anna purna who arrived to sit for one day fasting at Armoor in Nizamabad district. Suspicious death at Banjara Hills

Hyderabad, September 23: A man died due to burns at Banjara Hills. According to police sources 45 year old G Jagan who was a driver by occupation, resided at B K colony. On the night of September 19 accident of gas leakage occurred at his house.

Jagan tried to switch on the light of his room and the room went up in flames. He sustained serious burn injuries in the accident and died yesterday night while undergoing treatment.

Aloofness drives woman to suicide

Hyderabad, September 23: A woman suffering from mental trauma committed suicide in Jedimetla. The incident occurred at Dwarkapuri colony Chintal where 38 year old Venkata Laxmi doused herself in kerosene and set herself ablaze. She was rushed to the hospital where she died while undergoing treatment. It is said that Laxmi was under extreme depression since she was alone.

I was beaten for being a Muslim

Sydney, September 23: A Sydney schoolboy who was brutally bashed unconscious by more than 20 students and left with internal bleeding claims it was because he is Muslim.

Hamid Mamozai, 15, was allegedly hit up to a dozen times by two fellow students at Asquith Boys’ High School in Sydney’s north on Wednesday as several other students cheered and shouted racial abuse as they watched, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

”[They were saying] hit him more, hit him more, he deserves it, you terrorists, go back to where you came from, go blow something up,” Hamid told Channel 10.

Hyderabad, September 23: Police on Thursday arrested a lady aamil from Ghazibanda who is famous as ‘Baji’ in the area. However the arrested lady aamil Shaheda Begum alias Baji has to say that she is innocent and she doesn’t perform black magic but recites supplications. Saudi man beheaded for murder of compatriot

Riyadh, September 23: A Saudi citizen was beheaded on Thursday after he was convicted of murder, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.

Hamad Al Shahrani, who was found guilty of stabbing another man several times with a knife, was executed in the Aseer region in the southwest of the country.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia’s strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law.

Prophet’s purported relic brought to Chechnya

Chechnya, September 23: Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov broke into floods of tears as he unveiled a purported relic of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) at a ceremony, reports said on Thursday.

The government of the majority Muslim Russian Northern Caucasus region, raised the 1,400-year-old cup which believed to be belonged to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

The cup had earlier been flown into the Chechen capital Grozny from London where it was kept by unnamed descendants of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) cousin and fourth Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib.

Blast kills 4 militants in Pakistan

Islamabad, September 23: At least four suspected militants were killed and another injured on Friday when a bomb exploded in their vehicle in Pakistan’s Khyber tribal region. The blast occurred in the mountainous Tirah valley near the border with Afghanistan. The vehicle was destroyed by the blast, officials told the media.

It was not clear whether the bomb was planted in the vehicle or the militants were carrying the explosive device.

Supporters of the Lashkar-e-Islam militant group and its rival faction Ansar-ul-Islam routinely target each other mainly because of sectarian rivalry.

‘Saleh returns to Yemen from S Arabia’

Sanaa, September 23: Yemen’s Ali Abdullah Saleh has returned to the country after spending more than three months in Saudi Arabia for medical treatment, a report says.

His return comes days after regime forces launched an intensified crackdown on anti-government protesters, AFP reported on Friday.

More than 100 people are believed to have been killed during the clashes since Sunday.

Reports circulating on Monday revealed that a convoy of Saudi armed vehicles had crossed into Yemen to assist the regime in suppressing the protesters.

Saifeena wedding indefinitely put on hold

The wedding plans of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have apparently been indefinitely put on hold following the death of Saif’s father, the legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

The marriage plans had been postponed until mid February next year after Sr. Pataudi was admitted to the hospital. Everybody was under the impression that Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi would be fine by then and would be able to attend the wedding. No salary for striking employees

Hyderabad, September 23: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday issued indirect instructions that the employees who are on strike must not be paid salaries.

After reviewing the strike situation the Chief Minister directed “prompt payment of salaries to the employees who are attending to their work.” Although he did not make any direct comment regarding the salaries of employees on strike, but these instructions clearly suggest that the striking employees might not get their September salaries on time.
