Haj Camp 2011 – All arrangements completed

Hyderabad, September 24: All the arrangements for Haj Camp 2011 have been completed. Haj committee under the stewardship of its chairman Mr. Syed Khaleeluddin is reviewing the situation. The cases of the pilgrims who are on the waiting list are yet to be finalized. Nawaz & co. has been given the contract for erecting tents.

Since many floors of Haj House accommodate various offices, the problem of accommodating the Haj pilgrims has become acute. Arrangements are being made to house the pilgrims in the pindals erected on the land adjacent to Haj House.

Rare coin of East India Company found

Hyderabad, September 24: Department of Archeology and Museum has recovered a rare copper coin belonging to the East Indian Company period on Thursday. It must be noted that this coin has been collected from the first class judicial magistrate of Srikakulam.

Prof. P Chenna Reddy, director, department of Archaeology and Museums disclosed that the diameter of the coin is 3.8 centimeter and it weighs 24.86 grams. The year of release of the coin is 1818 embossed on it and the reverse side of the coin has the clear images of Sri Ram, Sita and Lakshman and Anjani.

Wife burnt alive by husband

Hyderabad, September 24: A man burnt alive his wife at Shamsabad. The incident occurred on September 21 at the house of Shekhar where Shekhar assaulted his wife and set her on fire after pouring kerosene over her body.

Shekhar who is a private servant used to harass his wife Lavanya physically as well as mentally. Similar thing happened on September 21 when he beat his wife and burnt her alive.

Saudia hires 34 planes for Haj flights

Jeddah, September 24: Saudi Arabian Airlines has completed its preparations for this year’s Haj, which include hiring 34 airplanes to fly pilgrims, to avoid any effect on regular flights, and made available all human, logistical and technical capabilities at all stations, Abdulaziz Bin Raheem Al-Hazmi, deputy director general of Saudia, said.

Speaking at the annual Haj meeting with representatives of airlines working in Saudi Arabia, he said flight schedules for pilgrims and other operational requirements have been finalized.

Lovers commit suicide at city outskirts

Hyderabad, September 24: Rafeeq (21) and Ramya (17) residents of Kurnool consumed poison and committed suicide at the city outskirts. The lovers had arrived at Hyderabad on Thursday and on Friday they committed suicide dejected over the fear of their separation on arrival of their elders. The incident occurred at Shivrampally area.

According to inspector Rajendranagar Jai Ram, Rafeeq and Ramya both natives of Kurnool had arrived at Hyderabad the day before and took a room at Sivrampalli area posing as married. Rafeeq was a driver by occupation.

Immunization programme for Hajj aspirants

Hyderabad, September 24: Andhra Pradesh State Hajj Committee is administering vaccination for dengue fever and polio drops at Hajj house to the Hajj aspirants of Hyderabad and Rangareddy district. Medical teams of Institute of Preventive Medicine and Princess Esra Hospital are providing immunization service for the Hajj aspirants.

Vaccination will be administered from Saturday, September 24 to Monday September 27 at Princess Esra Hospital, Charminar from 1:30 to 5:30. The hajj aspirants who have been left out can avail the facility.

Below my dignity to react to Shoaib’s comment: Tendulkar

New Delhi, September 24: Sachin Tendulkar declined to comment on controversial Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar’s remark that he and teammate Rahul Dravid did not have the ability to finish matches.

“It is below my dignity to react to Shoaib’s comment,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying by television channels.

However, the channels did not show any visuals to substantiate Tendulkar’s reaction.

Man locked up 6 women as sex slaves

Beijing, September 24: A 34-year-old man has been arrested in the Chinese province of Henan after police found he had locked six women in a basement, the state-run Southern Metropolis Daily said.

Li Hao, a former civil servant with the technological supervision bureau, has been accused of repeatedly raping all of them and killing two over the past two years.

The sex slaves were kidnapped by Hao from karoke bars. He kept them in a semistarved situation as a way to break down their resistance, and make it difficult for them to escape.

Telangana supporters begin rail-blockade

Hyderabad, September 24: Telangana supporters began a 48-hour blockade of trains in the region from Saturday as part of the ongoing general strike in support of separate statehood demand. Scholarships: Income limit increased for SC/ST students

Hyderabad, September 24: In the light of Shah Inayat gunj inspector’s letter sent to Mr. Amer Ali Khan news editor Siasat, body of a newborn baby boy was being thrown into the Moosi river two days ago after killing him. Reddy & associates have 200 bank lockers: CBI

Bellary, September 24: The CBI, probing illegal mining and irregularities in allotment of mining leases to Obulapuram Mining Company, has found that the arrested mining baron G Janardhana Reddy and his associates had allegedly booked 200 lockers in a private bank here.

Out of the 350 lockers available at the private bank, which was searched recently, about 200 have been taken by Reddy and his aides, CBI sources alleged.

Residents sick of dirty water

Hyderabad, September 24: People living in several colonies in the city are falling ill after being supplied contaminated drinking water. Children and the elderly are the worst affected. Representations have been made to the Water Board and the GHMC, but so far the authorities have ignored the plight of consumers. In one colony, Mahmoodguda, more than 1,000 households have been affected, particularly in the last one week, yet the authorities claim they have not got any complaints.

Muslims and Hindus have unitedly offered prayers for Modi’s divine punishment

Lucknow, September 24: Islamic clerics and Hindu priests joined hands to observe a day’s fast here Friday to seek “divine retribution” for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the alleged state-sponsored killing of Muslims during the 2002 riots.

Responding to the call given by leading Shia cleric and scholar Maulana Kalbe Jawaad, several Hindu sadhus joined him in the day-long ‘roza’ cum ‘upwas’ (fast) at Lucknow’s famous Asafi Imambara, where a formal ‘iftar’ (breaking of fast) was also arranged later in the evening.

New Delhi, September 24: The shocking murder happened when Umesh asked the passengers for the toll
A toll collector on the Delhi-Gurgaon toll road was shot dead by an unidentified commuter.

The incident occurred very early Friday morning at around 12:30 am at the NH 8 toll plaza, Kheri Daula . The deceased was identified as 22-year-old toll collector Umesh Kant Pandey.

The shocking murder happened when Umesh asked the passengers for the toll fee of Rs 27 from them, police said.
