CM, Botsa to visit Delhi on Wednesday for T talks

Hyderabad, September 28: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy may take the Delhi flight on Wednesday to meet the Congress managers and hold parleys on the burning Telangana issue, according to official sources.

The Chief Minister went to Kurnool on Tuesday and was scheduled to visit Chittoor district on Wednesday. However, with the Telangana agitation reaching its climax and paralysing the life in the State, the Congress High Command has summoned him to New Delhi to discuss a solution.

Govt to announce new toddy policy on Oct 1

Hyderabad, September 28: The State Government is likely to announce a new toddy policy from October 1st. The new policy is aimed at helping nearly 3 lakh people associated with the toddy tappers and others associated with the profession.

The toddy tappers and the State Government are estimated to have lost over nearly Rs 100 crore due the general strike in the Telangana region. Vimalakka among 34 held for Emaar attack

Hyderabad, September 28: The police on Tuesday arrested Telangana United Front president Vimalakka in connection with the alleged attack on Emaar Properties office.

According to police, besides Vimalakka, the police also arrested 33 people in connection with the ransacking of Emaar Properties office and attacking their officials. All of them were arrested early on Tuesday morning. They were later produced before a magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days. The police have also seized 13 vehicles in this connection.

TDP demands report on power cuts

Hyderabad, September 28: Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Tuesday demanded that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy release a comprehensive report on what forced the government to impose frequent power cuts in the Telangana region.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Errabelli warned the government of serious consequences if daily seven hour power supply was not restored to farmers without any interruption. “Before imposing power cuts for farmers, the Chief Minister has to impose power cuts to his house first,” he said.

T drivers leave officials stranded at Secretariat

Hyderabad, September 28: Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy tasted the Telangana agitators’ protest for a while on Tuesday when his vehicle reached the State Secretariat. The minister’s vehicle was blocked and the Telangana staff asked the driver to get out of the car. However, the driver did not oblige and sped away with the car.

SCR makes special arrangements to handle Dassera rush

TDP to prepare draft Agriculture Policy

Hyderabad, September 28: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will organize a conference on farmers’ issues during the next session of Parliament in New Delhi.

According to Telugu Desam Party Rythu Committee convener K Siva Prasada Rao, the TDP would prepare an Agriculture Policy and distribute its copies to all the intellectuals in the national capital before the conference. Ramdev trains guns on Chidambaram

Lucknow, September 27: Baba Ramdev Tuesday blamed Home Minister P. Chidambaram for the death of Raj Bala, a Haryana resident who was critically injured in the police crackdown on the yoga guru’s meeting in Delhi in June and died after being hospitalised for 114 days.

“Chidambaram is guilty of cold-blooded murder of the poor woman who received lathi blows while attending my camp at the Ramlila ground in New Delhi. He deserves to be tried for homicide and awarded death sentence,” Ramdev told reporters here.

No dissent in the Cabinet: Prime Minister

New Delhi, September 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned to the country on Tuesday after a seven-day visit to the US.

Earlier onboard Air India One, Manmohan Singh said attempts were being made to “destabilise polity” and accused the Opposition of getting “prematurely restless” to “force” early elections.

He made it clear that his government will “stay the course” and complete its full five year term.

Addressing a press conference onboard special Air India Aircraft while returning from his visit to New York via Frankurt, Singh asked the Opposition to be patient.

More than 7,200 Indian Jews to immigrate to Israel

Jerusalem, September 27: The Israeli government is expected to approve the long awaited ‘aliyah’ (immigration) of more than 7,200 Indian Jews from the north-eastern states of Manipur and Mizoram in the coming weeks, a media report said.

The decision to allow the last members of the “lost” Bnei Menashe tribe to immigrate to Israel is being greeted with excitement by local Evangelical Christian groups, who view it as fulfillment of Biblical prophecy and who have pledged financial support for the move.

London, September 27: Given enough time, a monkey with a typewriter would reproduce the complete works of Shakespeare, says a famous hypothesis. Now, it’s almost proved.

American researchers have created an army of millions of virtual monkeys, who have almost typed out the entire works of Shakespeare by bashing random keys on simulated typewriters.

The virtual monkeys, developed by programmer Jesse Anderson, have already typed up the whole of the poem “A Lover’s Complaint” and are 99.99 per cent of the way through the Bard’s complete works, a newspaper reported.

Haj pilgrims start arriving at the camp

Hyderabad, September 27: The annual Haj Camp 2011 began here at the Haj House at Nampally on Tuesday morning.

The Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee has made elaborate arrangements for the safe and smooth departure of 7800 Haj pilgrims from the state and the neighbouring districts of Karnataka. The Andhra Pradesh will send 7100 pilgrims while 700 pilgrims from Karnataka will emplane for the Holy land. Telangana temples shut for statehood

Hyderabad, September 27: It is not just the ordinary people in Telangana who are affected by the ongoing general strike. Even the temples have been shut by priests — all for the cause of a separate state.

Hundreds of temples across the region, comprising Hyderabad and nine other districts, stopped ‘Arjitha sevas’ and other special rituals as priests and other employees joined the ‘people’s strike’ which entered its 15th day.
