Hyderabad, August 06: Three workers from Andhra Pradesh and another Indian were killed when a police officer went on a shooting spree in three different locations in Kuwait on the first day of Ramzan on last Monday. The Indian embassy on Friday confirmed the deaths of the four Indians.

They were identified as Nallagutta Ramanaiah, Tokala Naresh Kumar, Masagiri Obul Reddy and Rambeem. All the four were shot dead by the mentally unsound officer of the ministry of interior, Hytam Al-Hazeri, who was later arrested by the security men.

Mumbai, August 06: Rumours are afloat in Tinselville that superstar Shahrukh Khan’s marriage is on the rocks as his better half Gauri Khan is miffed with him over his growing intimacy with his ‘Don 2’ costar Priyanka Chopra.

According to sources, SRK is bonding big time with the desi girl Priyanka Chopra these days and this seems to have not gone down too well with his wife Gauri Khan.

Besides romancing the actress in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’, Khan has also requested Piggy Chops to sizzle on an item number in his pet project ‘Ra.One’.

Mumbai, August 06: Contrary to his onscreen playboy image, Emraan Hashmi is quite a family man. He spends every free minute with his little boy, Ayaan and basks in his wife, Parveen, appreciation of his films.

And he’s quick to add that she doesn’t mind him doing steamy scenes. But what she does poke fun at is the fact that little Ayaan can’t watch any of his daddy’s films till he is an adult.

Mumbai, August 06: Kalki Koechlin has had a rough few weeks recently. Her film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara may have gone on to become a sleeper success, but the actor’s poor health has been keeping her from partying all the way.

But before one predicts that she’s in the family way, Kalki’s quick to clarify that, at this point in time, diaper duty is the last thing on her mind.

“I’ve just recovered from malaria. Plus, I don’t know how I can be so thin and be pregnant at the same time. No babies for me for at least the next 10 years.”

The actress, who apparently plays a musician in the film, was so keen on getting her notes right she that would ardently practice the guitar whenever she’d get the time.

Thankfully, for her, there was a well-established musician within the crew to help her from going out of tune.

Hyderabad, August 6: A review meet of high officials belonging to various departments was held on Friday at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamsabad to finalize the arrangement for the departure of state Hajj aspirants. The meet discussed the arrangements and measures to be taken for the convenience of people who would arrive to see off the aspirants.

Islamabad, August 06: Crimes against women, including forced marriages and sexual assaults, have risen by 18 percent in Pakistan over a period of one year, reveals a report.

According to a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report, the number of reported crimes has risen from 849 in May 2010 to 999 in May 2011, Daily Times reported Saturday.

FAFEN was established in 2006 as a coalition of approximately 30 leading civil society organisations in Pakistan with the primary objective of mobilising voters and observing the general elections that took place in February 2008.

Hyderabad, August 6: The Urdu language faces degeneration instead of promotion in the state due to the step motherly treatment meted out by Andhra Pradesh state towards it. The Andhra Pradesh State Urdu Academy, an institution which has been established with an aim to preserve, promote and develop Urdu language, has always been ignored by the government with regard to provision of grant. With the attitude meted out by the government towards Urdu academy it seems as if the state government feels the Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy as a burden.

Hyderabad, August 6: President Indian Union Muslim League and Union minister for external affairs and Human resource development E Ahmed and general secretary League Prof. K M Qader Mohiuddin announced new body for Andhra Pradesh state to be approved in central committee of Indian Union Muslim league.

In a letter they congratulated the new body and hoped that the new body will work for the welfare of people and development of the party.

Hyderabad, August 06: A high alert has been sounded at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad ahead of Independence Day and all VIP passes have been cancelled. The police has intensified the checking at all entry points as well as the surroundings of the airport.

The Cyberabad commissioner of police, Mr Ch D. Tirumala Rao, said, “Security has been stepped up as a part of the regular alert for the Independence Day celebrations.”

Armed cops have also been posted at key organisations including the state police headquarters at Lakdikapul.

New Delhi, August 06: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital abroad where she was operated upon for an undisclosed ailment, a senior party leader said here Saturday.

“Sonia Gandhi remained in the ICU for 24 hours and has thereafter been moved out. Her family has expressed gratitude on her behalf for all the messages and good wishes that have been sent to her,” Congress spokesperson Janardan Dwidedi said.

Riyadh, August 06: Security forces shot dead a gunman as he opened fire on the Jeddah palace of Saudi interior minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz early on Saturday, said a source close to the government.

Another man was arrested during the attack in which “two men opened fire after midnight on the Qasr Shateh residence of Prince Nayef (and) the security forces retaliated, killing one of them,” the source told AFP.

The nature of the attack was “individual and isolated” and did not bear the hallmarks of any organisation, the source said in reference to the al-Qaida terror network.

Mumbai, August 06: Officers belonging to Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad are on the radar of terrorist who may target them using parcel bombs. The ATS has been alerted of the same by the Intelligence Wing.

The ATS has in turn warned all its offices of the lurking danger. All offices including Nanded, Akola, Nagpur, Nasik have been warned not to accept any parcel or courier sent from an unknown person or an unknown address.

Gambling den raided

Hyderabad, August 6 (Siasat News): Police Moghalpura arrested nine persons who were involved in gambling and seized Rs. 46000, 13 cellphones and 3 motorbikes from their possession.

Inspector Moghalpura Mr. Syed Fayyaz said that many gambling dens are reportedly running in Moghalpura. Police would also raid them. He added that on a tip off, the gambling den being run Shaheen Heights was raided and nine persons were arrested.

Hyderabad, August 6: Checking inspectors of Zonal enforcement squad of APSRTC Greater Hyderabad Zone carried out sudden checking in the city and sub Urban bus services of the Greater Hyderabad Zone during the month of July and identified 1964 ticketless passengers and levied a fine of 65665 rupees on them.

“Today the two countries have solid special relations in the spheres of education, science and technology and culture. The credit goes to the political leadership of the two countries. The relationship has gone full circle. We have moved to a more equal and balanced relationship,” he said.

Meerut, August 06: A woman along with her two minor sons was found murdered inside her house in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district on Friday, police said.

Renu, 35, and her two sons Vishal, 14, and Raja, 12, were found murdered in Lalkurti area.

“It appears the three were attacked with some sharp-edged weapons,” police inspector Ramakant Chaturvedi told reporters in Meerut, some 450-km from Lucknow.

“We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime,” he added.

Police suspect Renu’s husband could be involved in the killings. He is absconding after the incident.

According to sources, the Congress party took this decision with other party leaders targeting party on Telangana issue in the state and at the Centre.

Hyderabad, August 06:  An IT professional was arrested by Cyber Crime police for harassing a girl by sending abusive SMSes to her mobile phone and her e-mail account. SV Ramana Murthy, additional director-general of police (CID) said the woman had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police on August 2 regarding abusive messages being sent to her mobile and through Internet.

Srikakulam, August 6: With the death of a 20-month-old child in Kummaripeta village of Narasannapeta mandal, dengue death toll has gone up to five in the district this year.

Sampathi Jhansi, was admitted to a children’s hospital in Srikakulam following fever since Saturday. As her condition did not improve, her father and mother took her to King George Hospital in Vizag on the advice of doctors who confirmed that she was suffering from dengue.

Visakhapatnam, August 6: The Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), the flagship of e-governance initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for a comprehensive reform of passport issuing system was inaugurated in Visakhapatnam on Friday. It is the first PSK in the state.

Inaugurating the PSK at Muralinagar, Chief Passport Officer Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi said the kendra, a state-of-the-art facility, would process initial work within three days while the passport would be delivered in less than 10 days after police verification.

Karimnagar, August 6: A bed-ridden 84-year-old Borukani Mallaiah, a resident of Dontapur village on the border of Karimnagar and Adilabad districts, has been facing harassment of a different kind from the police for the last six months.

The police have been asking Mallaiah to produce a death certificate’ of his son B Rajaiah to close the theft case pending against him. However, Mallaiah says his son has been missing for 23 years.
