High level meeting to take stock of law & order situation

Hyderabad, August 07: In the wake of Telangana Employees’ proposed strike from 17th August, a high level meeting was held in Secretariat under the Chairmanship of Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of A.P. chief Secretary Mr. S. V. Prasad and D.G.P. Mr. Dinesh Reddy were also present. The threats to disrupt Sub-Inspectors’ examinations to be held on 13th & 14th August came up for discussion. Osmania University students Joint Action Committee has given a call for ‘bandh’ on 13th & 14th August.

Attempt to keep off the employees and officers from strike – Plan for mass transfers

Hyderabad, August 07: Govt. of A.P. has decided to transfer the state Govt employees who have been working for more than five years at one place. It is a move to create trouble for Telangana employees who have given a call for strike. A G.O. is expected to be issued soon. In the event of transfer, the employees go on leave for a period of one or two months and join the old posts after it.

Withdrawal of section 14F soon: D. Nagender

Hyderabad, Augsut 07: Mr. D. Nagender, State Labour Minister told that section 14F would be withdrawn from the presidential order of 1975. Before 13th August 2011. He said that MR. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy contacted Home Minister and Prime Minister impressing upon them for the cancellation of section 14F.

He said that the negotiations with the Telangana U.G.O’s leaders have been postponed to 8th August. The demands put forth by the leaders are of sensitive nature. Telangana Issue is not in the purview of Govt. of A.P. The Central Govt. should take a decision soon.

Non-furnishing of information would entail fine: Mr. Jannat Hussain

Hyderabad, Augsut 07: Mr. Jannat Hussain IAS(Retd) held a meeting with the representatives of the Civil Society engaged in spreading the provisions of the Right To Information Act. He decided to hold monthly meetings. Members of the Civil Society complained that some officers are not furnishing information Mr. Hussain said that such an act would entail imposition of fine.

Riots in London after fatal shooting

London, August 07: Riots broke out in north London Saturday night following a fatal police shooting.

Two police cars, a bus and ­several shops were set ablaze in Tottenham after Mark Duggan, 29, a father of four, was killed Thursday.

Tottenham is a suburb area of north London.

Guardian reported that rioters broke through police ranks and tried to storm Tottenham’s police station. They threw bricks, bottles and eggs at police officials.

While many carried makeshift weapons like metal bars and baseball bats to confront the police, others seemed more interested in looting.

Four National Records Created in National Jr. Aquatics on 1st Day

Spurned lover attacks girl

Hyderabad, August 07: A stalker attacked a 16-year-old girl with a knife after she turned down his love in the Ternekal village on Friday.

Madhu, a tailor, had been harassing her for the past six months. Police said the girl had recently passed her Class X exams and had joined an Intermediate course in a college at Adoni. As she was scheduled to leave on Saturday, Madhu went to her house and proposed to her. When she refused, he attacked her with a knife and fled.

The girl is being treated at Pattikonda.

No going back on resignations, assert Telangana Congress leaders

Hyderabad, August 07: Congress leaders from Telangana on Saturday asserted that there was no question of retracting their resignations, tendered in support of the demand of separate state.

“The status-quo will continue as far as resignations of MPs and state ministers are concerned,” Gutta Sukhender Reddy, an MP, and G V Ramana Reddy, an MLA, told reporters after a meeting of Telangana Congress Steering Committee.

No more permits for Rubat

Hyderabad, August 7: According to the press note of Auqaf committee HEH the Nizam, 1200 extra applications have been received during 1st to 5th Ramadan for the purpose of obtaining accommodation in Rubat nizam in Makkah al Mukarrama, while only 800 aspirants were given permission by Saudi government officials.

It has been tried several times to get permits for the remaining aspirants but no answer has been received by Nazir Rubat. So issue of further permits is not possible. Hence aspirants are requested not to approach office for permits.

Youth fined for having affair with girl

Muzaffarnagar, August 07: A 21-year-old youth has been asked by a village panchayat to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for allegedly having an affair and eloping with a girl of the same village.

The diktat was passed in a community panchayat convened in Budhupura village, around 20 kms from here, on Friday where the youth was found guilty of having an affair and eloping with an 18-year-old girl, two members, Sharafat and Farman, who were part of the community panchayat, said.

The family of the girl had approached the panchayat as they were opposed to their affair.

Hazare takes a dig at PM

New Delhi, August 07: Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, reformer Anna Hazare Saturday said their “foreign education” was hindering their understanding of the nation. Meanwhile, activists held rallies and burnt copies of the government’s Lokpal Bill in the national capital region.

“As they (Manmohan Singh and Sibal) received their education abroad, they have not been able to understand the workings of the country,” Hazare told reporters in Jalgaon in Maharashtra.

Bomb hoax creates panic in train

West Bengal, August 07: A bomb hoax created panic in Bengal-bound Farakka Express train late night on Saturday leading to two hours of delay, police said.

Police said a caller claimed that two bombs were planted in the express train, which had departed from Delhi rail station.

The train, which halted at the railway station here,was checked and no bombs were found by a bomb disposal squad,
they said.

The train left for Malda about 12.30 AM in the wee hours, they added.

General threatens to hit Saleh’s palace

Sanaa, Augsut 07: A Yemeni army general who has joined the revolutionaries has threatened to attack Ali Abdullah Saleh’s palace if regime troops continue to attack his forces.

General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar made the threat on Saturday, a day after Republican Guards led by Saleh’s son carried out attacks on the headquarters of Ahmar’s forces.

Powerful tribal leader Sadiq al-Ahmar said the regime forces were sparking a war by carrying out “provocative measures.”

He accused Saleh loyalists of violating a truce that ended deadly clashes in the capital Sana’a in May.

KSA considering anti-terror law revision

Riyadh, August 07: Under international pressure, the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia has announced that it might revise a proposed anti-terrorist law that was heavily criticized by the international community.

A leaked version of the law was published in Amnesty International’s website last month, prompting condemnation by several countries and human rights groups.

“The draft that was published is not the final one,” said Mohammed Almohanna, a spokesman for the assembly.
