Youth commits suicide, dejected over delay in getting inheritance

Hyderabad, August 7: Distraught over delay in getting his share from his ancestral property, 27 year old Sainath resident of Dommalguda committed suicide by consuming poison on August 5. He was rushed to the hospital where he died in the wee hours of Saturday while undergoing treatment.

Sainath resented the behaviour of his mother and elder brother who were holding up former’s share of ancestral property. Police Chikkadpally is investigating the case.

New Delhi, August 07: A trial court has sentenced a 28-year-old man, father of three children, to a seven-year jail term for raping a minor girl and fathering her child with the false assurance that he would marry her.

Terming the case “a saga of lies, lust, treachery, tricks, sex and cheating”, additional sessions judge Kamini Lau said, “The accused, by suppressing the fact of his earlier marriage, emotionally, psychologically, financially and physically exploited a young teenager since the age of 14 to 15 years and fathered her child when she was hardly 17 years of age.”

Telangana employees gearing up for indefinite strike

Hyderabad, August 07: Government employees in Telangana region are set to protest from Monday in the run up to the indefinite strike from Aug 17, even as the government decided to invoke Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) in all key departments.

A showdown appears inevitable with the employees’ unions deciding to boycott talks till the government withdraws orders under ESMA and calls back police forces deployed at the offices and the government giving no hint of accepting their pre-conditions.

Unwanted husband, bride ends life

Hyderabad, August 7: A bride who had been married for just forty days committed suicide consuming unidentified poison at Alwal. It is said that 21 year old N Pochamani consumed poison on July 30, she died yesterday in the hospital while undergoing treatment.

According to sources Pochamani didn’t like her husband and it is believed that she was forcibly married to him. According to the traditions the girl lived with her parents for 30 days past her marriage and she arrived at her in-laws house 10 days ago.

Iraq’s Sadr warns against post-2011 US presence

Baghdad, August 07: Radical anti-US cleric Moqtada al-Sadr warned that any US training mission in Iraq after 2011 would amount to an occupation force and need to be opposed by “military means,” in a letter seen on Sunday.

The letter, released on Saturday in the Shiite cleric’s base in the shrine city of Najaf, came after Baghdad agreed to open talks with Washington for a training mission post-2011, when all US troops are due to have left.

OUTSJAC announces 48 hour Telangana bandh from August 13

Hyderabad, August 7: Demanding deletion of chapter 14 F of the presidential order 1975, Osmania University Telangana Students Joint Action Committee has announced its protest agenda. The Joint Action Committee in a meeting held at the University on Saturday finalized its agitation programme to mount pressure for deletion of 14 F. According to the programme 48 hour bandh will be observed from August 13 across Telangana.

BJP demands CBI inquiry into CWG corruption

New Delhi, August 07: Armed with reports stating massive corruption, the BJP has approached the CBI to register cases of graft and conspiracy in alleged irregularities worth several crores of rupees in construction of CWG stadia.

A complaint claiming financial bungling and other irregularities has been given by BJP’s RTI Cell to CBI director AP Singh, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Comptroller and Auditor General VK Shunglu for necessary action.

‘There was proposal to restructure CWG OC in 2007’

New Delhi, August 07: In view of complaints against the CWG Organising Committee headed by Suresh Kalmadi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was open to an idea of restructuring it in 2007, but it did not materialise as no concrete proposal came forth.

Sports Minister Ajay Maken suggested this as he insisted that nothing could be done about Kalmadi because he had been elected OC chairman by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the UPA government was bound by the Host City Agreement (HCC) signed by the previous NDA government with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).

Govt for national consensus on Land Bill: Ramesh

Hyderabad, August 07: Underlining the importance of land acquisition related tribal issues, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has said that the government is trying to evolve a national consensus on the proposed Land Acquisition Bill.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, Ramesh said there are different views on the proposed bill, many people welcomed it while many criticised it.

“I know there are different views on this Bill (Land Acquisition Bill). But through a process of debate, we will arrive at a national consensus on this legislation,” he added.

Techie held for stalking

Hyderabad, August 07: The cyber crime police of the CID on Friday arrested Harihara Kumar, a 24-year-old techie working in a software firm at Gatchibowli, on the allegations of cyber-stalking a girl student of an engineering college.

Harihara is a resident of Ramanthapur. He had allegedly been harassing and defaming the girl by hacking into her email and putting up false information on her Facebook wall.

Laptop stolen from Adhar project centre, youth arrested

Hyderabad, August 7: Afzalganj police arrested a youth for stealing laptops and computers from Adhar project centre. DSP north zone Mr. Gangadhar told this during a press conference and produced the thief Mahinder and the stolen items before media. First group of Haj Pilgrims to fly on 29th September 2011

Hyderabad, August 07: In order to facilitate the Haj Pilgrimage in their travels, a joint meeting of the Haj Committee and the airport officials was held yesterday. Bhajans in Sainik school, Santoshnagar: Muslims oppose

Hyderabad, August 07: Muslim League leader, Mr. Mohammed Vicar Hussain opposed the system of reciting Bhajans and Unislamic names in the Sainik School at Santoshnagar. A large number of Muslim students study in this school. No additional residential permits for Nizam Rubath in Makkah

Municipal Corporation was admonished by High Court

Hyderabad, August 07: Justice Ramana of High Court admonished Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities for demolishing illegal constructions. The Judge asked them what they were doing when these constructions were in progress. The Municipal authorities complained that they don’t have sufficient staff. Addressing the Municipal authorities, the Judge said that when they collect taxes, it is their duty to stop such illegal constructions.
