India visit extremely successful: Hina Rabbani Khar

New Delhi, August 10: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Tuesday termed her recent India visit as extremely successful and said Islamabad was keen on building a new relationship with not just New Delhi but also Kabul. “We believe that peace, security and prosperity in South Asia as a whole is indivisible,” she said while briefing the National Assembly about her India visit in July-end.

Students’ bandh call, Section 144 imposed : A. K. Khan

Hyderabad, August 10: In the backdrop of the students Joint Action Committee refusing to withdraw its bandh call for Wednesday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan on Tuesday announced the imposition of Section 144 in the city from 6 AM of August 10.

Earlier, the city police had imposed Section 144 in the city on July 7 and had extended it for two weeks following a bandh call given by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee.

Innocent Killings: Can Kashmiri youths take hints from Hyderabadis?

It is a tragedy for Kashmiri youths that almost everyday they are targeted by either militants or security forces unmindful of their background. Not only this, many Muslim young girls were abducted and raped.

I am writing this article according to the statistics which shows the Kashmiri conflict has ‘approximately’ claimed 200,000 deaths of Kashmiris. What makes me even more worried is that the government has not kept an accurate record of the deaths and therefore, these numbers are just ‘approximate’.

AP CM urges PM to delete controversial clause

Hyderabad, August 9: With protests in Telangana looming large, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate steps for deletion of a clause from the 1975 presidential order that treats this state capital as a free zone for police recruitment.

As Telangana is set to observe shutdown Wednesday on a call given by Telangana students’ groups, Reddy spoke to Manmohan Singh over phone and emphasised the need to delete the clause.

Other parties veer round to TRS chief’s view

Hyderabad, August 9: All the political parties in Telangana more or less agree with Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on one count: that they have to wait till 2014, the election year, to know how the Centre will solve the Telangana riddle.
The CPI, which supports the demand for state’s bifurcation, felt that it would be a long-drawn battle for Telangana and had to wait till 2014 to know what the Centre would decide. Party state secretary K Narayana said: “There are no deadlines for Telangana. It is a long fight. We may get clarity in 2014.”

16-member Seemandhra team to meet Azad Wednesday

108 services likely to get new operator

Hyderabad, August 9: The operations of the ailing EMRI (108) services is likely to be handed over to a new organisation if the state government and the GVK Group, which is the current operator of the call-centre service, do not reach an amicable agreement.

On the other hand, the government has decided to hand over the call centre operations of HMRI (104) services to the Rajiv Aarogyasri Trust which recently expressed its interest to run the call-centre.

Andhra Pradesh extends ban on CPI (Maoist)

Hyderabad, August 9: The Andhra Pradesh government Tuesday extended for another year the ban on the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and six of its frontal organisations, officials said.
The government issued orders extending the ban on CPI (Maoist) and its frontal organizations under the Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act. The ban was to lapse Aug 16.

The frontal organizations of CPI (Maoist) are Radical Youth League, Rythu Coolie Sangham, Radical Students Union, Singareni Karmika Samakhya, Viplava Karmika Samakhya and All India Revolutionary Students Federation.

When a lone woman confronted rioters in London

London, August 09: A lone woman who stood up to the rioters and told them not to touch the shops in London has become an internet hit.

A Telegraph journalist shot the footage near Clarence Road Tuesday night. The footage has attracted over 800,000 views.

The woman asked rioters to leave local shops alone and instead concentrate on protesting against the death of Mark Duggan, an incident that sparked the violence.

One online post said: “This woman has restored my faith in humanity somewhat today. I want to marry her.”

Hyderabad, August 9: In two different dowry harassment incidents occurred at Kachiguda and Dandegal areas two women committed suicide by hanging themselves.

26 year old Sandhya hanged herself to death yesterday night at Kachiguda. Sandhya got married to Ramakrishna in the year 2000. Ramakrishna who swallowed up the money and sold the gold given as dowry was harassing her wife for more dowry. Furthermore he was given 1 lakh rupees a month ago however he was still harassing his wife for more money. Unable to bear the harassment Sandhya hanged herself to death.

Will withdraw strike call if T deadline is set: Swamy Goud

Hyderabad, August 09: Amidst increasingly strident calls to the employees to withdraw their threat of a general strike from August 17, TNGOs president Swamy Goud on Tuesday said that the employees would do so only if they get an time-bound assurance of the bifurcation of the state.

Mr Swamy Goud told media persons here that the employees would roll back their agitation for separate statehood if the elected representatives from Telangana announce a time frame for achieving the separate state.
