Babu in Delhi to foil T formation: Nagam

Hyderabad, August 11: Dissent Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had gone to New Delhi to foil the chances of Telangana state formation.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Dr Janardhan Reddy demanded that Mr Naidu make a statement the purpose behind his meeting Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi today.

Mr Naidu met the Union Home Minister, hours before the Seemandhra delegation called on Mr Chidambaram as part of the consultation process taken up by the Centre.

CM extends Ramzan greetings to Muslims

Hyderabad, August 11: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy greeted the Muslim brethren on the occasion of the Holy Ramzan Month.

He participated in an Iftar Party hosted by former minister Mohammed Shabbir Ali at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ali Shabbir stated that the state government, under the leadership of Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, has been implementing several welfare and developmental measures for the minorities in the State, including extension of reservations in employment and education to minorities, (BC-E) for a further period of ten years.

Guards molest DU student in classroom

New Delhi, August 11: Forget about safety issues outside the premises, it appears female students face unforeseen threats inside their institutions as well. A B.Com second-year student of Satyawati College of Delhi University (DU) was allegedly held hostage and molested by two security guards of the institute inside her classroom.

The victim is a B.Com second-year student of Satyawati College of Delhi University. Classes were over at the time of the incident, but she was inside the room with a friend.

Another Gujarat police officer faces action

Gandhinagar, August 11: After Sanjiv Bhatt, it is now the turn of another senior Gujarat police officer, Rahul Sharma, to face the music. He is being hauled up for passing on, without official clearance, information to a panel probing the 2002 Gujarat riots.

The proposed action against him was cleared at the highest level in the state, sources said here Thursday.

Posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), armed units, with its headquarters in Rajkot, Sharma is set to be chargesheeted for violation of the Official Secrets Act(OSA).

Wife refuses money for drinking, husband ends life

Hyderabad, August 11: A man disheartened over wife’s refusal to give money for drinking hanged himself to death. The incident occurred under Chandanagar police station limits. 32 year old Balaiah who was said to be a labour by occupation was a habitual drunkard. His wife had even given him money for the business. Following loss in the business Balaiah’s wife had commanded him to meet his needs with the rent of the house. However she stopped giving him money for drinking. Disheartened by this Balaiah hanged himself to death.

Proposes anti-discrimination law

Cairo, August 11: Egypt’s government on Wednesday proposed an anti-discrimination amendment to its criminal code, mostly aimed at the troubled Christian minority which has been the target of sectarian attacks.

The bill, which the caretaker cabinet published a draft of on its Facebook page, would make discrimination a crime punishable by at least three months in prison, in addition to a fine.

It defines discrimination as “any action, or lack of action, that discriminates between people or against a sect due to gender, origin, language, religion or belief.”

Muslim states to discuss Somalia aid: OIC

Saudi Arabia, August 11: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation said Wednesday foreign ministers of member states will meet in Turkey next week to discuss aid to drought- and famine-hit Somalia.

The meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday follows a “call by Turkey to help the people of Somalia,” said the largest pan-Islamic body, which is based in Saudi Arabia.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called last week on the 57-member OIC to meet to intervene in Somalia, the Turkish Anatolia news agency said.

White House rejects claim about Bin Laden film

Washington, August 11: Moviemakers producing a film about the US special forces raid that killed Osama Bin Laden are getting help from the Pentagon, but the Obama administration dismissed concerns on Wednesday that classified information has been divulged.

The film, focusing on one of President Barack Obama’s key successes in office, is due to be released in October 2012, less than a month before the election in which the Democrat is seeking a second term.

Home ministry looking into Pakistani prisoner in Ajmer: PM

New Delhi, August 11: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday said the central government had sought from the Rajasthan government details on Khaleel Chishty, an 80-year-old Pakistani doctor undergoing life imprisonment in a jail in Ajmer for murder.

Intervening during question hour in Rajya Sabha, the prime minister said the home ministry had been instructed to seek details from the Rajasthan government on the case of the virologist from Karachi Medical College.

Hyderabad, August 11: Chairman State Level Police Recruitment Board said that written exam for Sub Inspectors recruitment will be held as per schedule. Chairman Mr. Mala Kandaya during a press conference told that any kind of disruption during the exam will not be tolerated. He revealed that all preparations for the exams are complete and more than 4 thousand police force will be deployed. Girl duped after marriage, case against absconding constable

Hyderabad, August 11: A girl lodged a complaint with Shamsabad RGI police against RGI constable saying that he duped after marrying her and ran away. According to details Kalyani (22) resident of RB Nagar, was working at Shamsabad airport. 8 months ago she needed a no objection certificate from the police, for which she went to RGI police station where she met constable Mahesh. Mahesh assigned her the required certificate and also obtained her phone number. After that he continued meeting her following which they got married.

Infant dies of snake bite

Hyderabad, August 11: A one and a half year old girl died of snake bite under Pahadi Shareef police station limits. According to police sources Samreen Begum daughter of Shaikh Abdur Rasheed, resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Pahadi shareef died of snake bite. Police sources said that Samreen was sleeping along with her parents when a snake bit her. She was rushed to the hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

Jagan may face arrest in assets case

Hyderabad, August 11: With the Andhra Pradesh High Court ordering a full-fledged Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into his alleged illegal wealth, India’s richest MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy may face arrest and his assets are likely to be seized.

The CBI, which conducted preliminary investigations on the direction of the court last month, is expected to take up the full-scale probe against the YSR Congress party chief, popularly known as Jagan, and his associates after receiving the court orders pronounced Wednesday.
