Mumbai, July 30: Over his alleged ‘extreme xenophobic right-wing thoughts’ pubished in a newspaper article, the minority commission of Maharashtra has called for the arrest of Janata Party Cheif Subramaniam Swamy.
State Minorities Commission vice chairman Abraham Mathai wrote to Mumbai police chief Arup Patnaik, urging him to initiate criminal charges against Swamy under Section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.
Hyderabad, July 30: The University of Northern Virginia at Annandale, which is being investigated for alleged visa fraud has a total strength of 2,400 students. Close to 90 percent of them are Indians and mostly belong to Andhra Pradesh.
The raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department and Federal Bureau of Investigation has endangered the future of a large number of students from the state, who are enrolled in various courses.

Muzaffarnagar, July 30: Darul Uloom Deoband has said fatwas issued by the seminary are meant for guidance and should not be enforced forcibly.
A fatwa is not an order but a guidance of principle and any one can abide by it or ignore it, in-charge of the fatwa department of the seminary Mufti Habibur Rehman told reporters last evening.
They are not to be enforced forcibly, he said.
New Delhi, July 30: M.K. Stalin arrested for resisting the arrest of DMK Tiruvarur District secretary, Poondi Kalaivanan, in Tiruvarur district.
Mr. Kalaivanan was wanted in connection with a case of forcing students to boycott schools demanding implementation of Samacheer Kalvi (Uniform System of School Education). Police say Stalin will be freed later, and charges will not be pressed in this particular case.
Man with two passports arrested
Hyderabad, July 30 (Siasat News): North zone team of commissioner task force has arrested a man who possessed two passports with different names.
The arrested man is 32-year-old Syed Nayeem of Hafizbaba Nagar and is said to be a tailor. He used his photographs but changed the name to obtain these passports.
Police has also recovered fake ration and ID card and handed them over to Kanchan Baug police for further investigations.

Washington, July 30: Blaming growing demand for oil in countries like China and India for rising gas prices, President Barack Obama has unveiled a plan to improve the fuel efficiency of US vehicles to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.
“For the last few months, gas prices have just been killing folks at the pump,” he told auto industry executives Friday at an event here announcing new auto fuel-economy standards beginning in 2017.

Mumbai, July 30: Sameera Reddy, who’s currently in Kolkata to shoot her Tamil film, Vedi, with southside star Vishal, was thrilled to know that they would be shooting at the famous Dakshineshwari Kali Temple.
So much so that she reached there early on Wednesday morning to seek blessings from the Goddess. However, she was shocked when she learnt the shoot was stalled due to permission issues.
A unit member from Vedi attributes the sudden cancellation of the shoot to “red-tapism” by temple authorities. “We explained them that we had got the permission.

Makkah, July 30: Four people were killed and two others injured in a predawn road accident that occurred on the Makkah-Jeddah Expressway.
The dead included a Saudi citizen and three Indians. The two injured were identified as Indians.
S.D. Moorthy of the Indian Consulate General in Jeddah told the accident occurred when a GMC vehicle driven by a Saudi national carrying five Indian laborers turned turtle due to a tire burst.
Moorthy said five of the six accident victims were from Kerala. The dead Indians are Shamijaj, Benny and Sathwan.
Jeddah, July 30: Many workingwomen do not perform regular daily prayers at their workplaces because of their unwillingness to remove makeup to do ablution.
A number of women interviewed by Arab News said it was important to keep their good looks and makeup during their hours in office. They also argued that the lack of special rooms for them to remove and redo their makeup was another obstacle preventing them from performing prayers on time.
Mumbai, July 30: Television actress Ekta Tiwari, best known for her lead role in Tere Mere Sapne, has filed a complaint of attempted rape against her former driver, accusing him of molesting, assaulting and threatening her in her Bhayander flat on Thursday night.
According to the Navghar police, Tiwari stays alone at her Naya Nagar flat in Bhayandar and had employed Mira Road resident Sajid Sayyed (26) as her driver three months ago.
She fired him a fortnight back, following which he started sending her lewd SMSes and began stalking her.
