Hyderabad, July 26: C Venugopal had purchased a plot in survey number 25 of Yamnampet village in Keesara mandal two years ago. On Monday, he landed at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) office in Tarnaka to check land usage of his plot on the draft master plan for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region.

So did M Eshwar of Housing Board, Moula Ali who had purchased 267 sq yards land in Jaithwaram village. Eshwar, however, realized that his plot was in a conservation zone where he cannot construct a house due to restrictions.

State bans illegal use of AIS plots

Hyderabad, July 26: The state government on Tuesday issued prohibitory orders against the commercial use of plots in Prasashan Nagar, the housing colony of All India Services officers.

The revenue principal secretary, Mr Anil C. Punetha, issued orders empowering the managing committee of the Prashasan Nagar Co-operative House Building Society Limited to take back plots from officers who violate the rules and attempt to put the vacant residential plots for commercial use.

Khar wants result oriented dialogue on Kashmir

Islamabad, July 26: The Pakistan-India dialogue on Kashmir should not be just for form’s sake but should also yield constructive results, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has said.

“Pakistan believes in the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the wishes of the Kashmiris in the light of UN resolutions on Kashmir,” she said during a meeting with JKLF leader Yasin Malik at Lahore Monday.

Khar’s meeting with Malik took place a day ahead of her departure for New Delhi to attend talks with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna.

Six Uzbek women held for flesh trade

New Delhi, July 26: Police say tourist visas being used, third such case in one month. Police arrested six Uzbek women late on Sunday night from South-East Delhi for their alleged involvement in a sex-racket.

The main accused person, a woman, who allegedly ran the racket is also from Uzbekistan and is absconding. Police have seized two registers from the premises.

According to authorities, the modus operandi of the accused was to bring women into India on a tourist visa and indulge them into flesh trade.

‘Threat’ of Islam drove Oslo killer

Oslo, July 26: BEHRING Breivik told a Norwegian judge on Monday that his bombing and shooting rampage, which killed 93 people, aimed to save Europe from a Muslim takeover, and said two more cells existed in his organisation.

Breivik had earlier revealed that he had acted alone and the police said they have no other suspects in Friday’s attacks.

His remarks were relayed by judge Kim Heger in a news conference held after a closed- door custody hearing.

Father jailed for rape

Timoci Vula, July 26: A FATHER of two who was convicted for raping his female workmate was jailed for four years by the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

The 26-year-old man was found guilty of one count of rape by majority opinions of the assessors in Lautoka last week.

The High Court heard that the man and the 27-year-old victim had known each other as they had both worked at the same resort for about three months.

Lockport, July 26: A Lockport man has been sentenced to 17 years behind bars and 10 years of supervised release for having around two million images of child pornography in his home and on his computer.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 37-year-old Robert Terhaar was sentenced on Monday. Some of the child pornography depicted force and violence, and some images were even of newborn babies. Federal agents say Terhaar admitted he fantasizes about young boys and was concerned about his ability to control his sexual urges. Terhaar distributed the images online through various programs.

Canada, July 25: They waved signs that warned of “creeping jihad” and proclaimed “Islam must be reformed or banned.”

They chanted “No Islam in our schools”; “No Mohamed in our schools”; “No Sharia law in our country.”

Murdered Nepali woman’s body found in tank

New Delhi, July 26: A 27-year-old Nepali woman was murdered and her decomposed body was found in a water tank of her residence in west Delhi, police said Monday.

“Asha’s body was recovered Monday from a water tank on the roof of the house in Baba Haridash Nagar where she had been living for the last one-and-half years,” said a senior police officer.

“Prima facie, it seems to be a case of murder,” said a police officer, adding that they had not ruled out rape before the killing.

“We are waiting for the autopsy report,” said the officer.

Al Qaeda suspect killed in Iraq

Baghdad, July 26: Three people including a terror suspect were killed and 18 injured in a car bomb explosion in northern Iraq, Xinhua reported Tuesday.

The car bomb exploded near the residence of Mohammed Nassif Jassim, a suspected Al Qaeda member, killing him and two of his daughters, wounding 18 others including his brother.

The blast that occurred in Al-Hawija district of Iraq’s Kirkuk province late Monday, also damaged the victim’s house and a number of neighbouring buildings, a source said.

Govt probed Hindu terror, BJP attacking ministers: PC

New Delhi, July 26: Home Minister P Chidambaram today said there are nine documented cases involving right wing terror groups making bombs and killing people and BJP is targeting selective Ministers because the UPA government has quickened investigations into them.

He said the objective of these fundamentalist groups was to clearly create terror and the government has to deal with that.

Interacting with PTI journalists, Chidambaram said BJP’s attack could also be due to the fact that the government has persuaded the court to hear two Ayodhya cases on a more or less day-to-day basis.
