Mumbai, July 26: The investigating agencies have not been able to achieve any breakthrough in the serial blasts here on June 13 so far. -The Assembly is going to debate the issue on Tuesday. Any reply in this regard will not be appropriate at this time,- Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy said here on Monday when asked about the progress in the investigation.

BJP demands resignations of PM, HM

New Delhi, July 26: BJP national president Nitin Gadkari demanded resignations of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram after former Telecom Minister A Raja implicated their names in the 2G scam in his deposition before the trial court.

Addressing a news conference here yesterday, Mr Gadkari said the BJP always maintained that a mega scam involving Rs 1.76 lakh crore could not have been committed only by one minister but was the outcome of others involved and the Cabinet.

Dubai International Airport traffic up 8.9 percent

Dubai, July 26 : Dubai International Airport recorded the busiest six months in its 50-year history as 24.6 million passengers passed through it, making it the world’s fourth busiest airport.

The figure was up 8.9 percent compared to 22.6 million in the corresponding period last year, according to the mid-year results released by the airport authority Monday.

In June, the airport handled 4.7 million passengers, up 10.4 percent from the 3.68 million in the same period last year.

Women earning more in cities in 10 years

Mumbai, July 26: Reinforcing the growing financial independence of women in India, a survey says the income level of urban Indian women has doubled in the last decade. This increase has also led to the average urban household income doubling, according to a study by market research firm IMRB.

The urban Indian woman who earned Rs 4,492 per month in 2001 was taking home as much as Rs 9,457 as of 2010. The rise in her income is directly reflected in the average monthly household income of urban India going up from Rs 8,242 to Rs 16,509 in 2010, says the IMRB survey.

To attend the counseling candidates of A category should make a DD of 1000 rupees, while those of B category should make a DD of 5000 rupees in favour of Principal Deccan College of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad and submit the same at Admission cell, Darussalam, between 11am to 3 pm today on July 26.

Man cuts wife lover’s sex organ after killing

Amman, July 26: A Jordanian who confessed to killing his wife’s alleged lover cut off the man’s penis before putting it in a bag and handing it over to police, a judicial official said on Monday.

The 35-year-old man “lured the victim to a hotel room in downtown Amman, claiming that he wanted to resolve the issue about his wife quietly” on Saturday, the official told AFP.

The suspect then tied up the alleged lover, sodomised him and slit his throat before cutting off his penis.

Doubts over proposed Dowry Act amendments

Hyderabad, July 26: While the Centre is mulling over amending the Dowry Prohibition Act (DP Act) to change the definition of dowry and exclude from its purview voluntary gifts given to the bride by her family, city advocates say this can lead to misuse of the DP Act as the groom may try to pass off all demands of dowry as gifts.

Instead, lawyers say, the pending Bill on compulsory registration of gifts given and taken during marriage should be passed without delay to prevent confusion on dowry harassment cases.
