Hyderabad, July 3: Teachers Eligibility test APTET is scheduled on July 31. Urdu pandit, Hindi pandit, D. Ed and B.Ed candidates can appear for the test. A mock test is conducted by Siasat daily on July 3 at 11 am, at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, Siasat premises opposite Ramkrishna theatre Abids. Candidates will be provided model paper of CTET exam.

Centre will take amicable decision on T issue, arrures Botcha

Hyderabad, July 03: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Chief Botcha Satyanarayana, while describing the Telangana State issue as ‘sensitive’ in nature, said a decision would be taken by the Centre which would be ‘amicable’ and ”helpful” to the eight crore people of the State.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan after meeting Ministers and MPs from Telangana Region in the wake of their announcement of submitting resignations on July 4, he said after understanding the people’s sentiments from all the regions, a decision had to be taken.

Tihar a picnic spot for fraudsters: BJP

New Delhi, July 03: In the wake of a media report alleging special treatment being accorded to VIP prisoners at Tihar Jail here, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said the jail had become a “picnic spot” for scamsters.

“Tihar has become a picnic spot for the champions of scams and corruption,” BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters.

“The central government is first trying to protect the people who are involved in corruption and scams, and if they are in jail, they are providing all the facilities,” he said.

Udupian among seven die in Riyadh fire

Dubai, July 03: Seven persons including one from Udupi and five from Kerala killed in a fire in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

The fire broke out in the second floor of a building at Al Bathha area of Riyadh, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said here.

Crime rate has fallen: Delhi Police Chief

New Delhi, July 03: Delhi Police Saturday said that crime rate in the capital had fallen in the first half of this year by 2.7 percent as compared to last year.

“Crime per lakh population has decreased from last year’s rate of 313.6 to 311.23 this year,” Gupta said at the half yearly press briefing.

He said that 155 new emergency response vehicles, one in each police station, had been introduced with a view to perform anti-terror tasks and be the first one to respond to a distress call.

Mumbai, July 03: Model and actor Bhairavi Goswami is spewing venom. The actor has said that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan went all the way to an IVF Clinic in Bangkok to get a baby boy.

Her twitter account and Facebook account both had her comments that read, “Nauseating 2 read superstars giving interviews about wanting a girl baby when she has gone 2 Bangkok to an IVF clinic which specializes in boy babies. Height of hypocrisy. They know damn well its a boy, after all she has to produce a male heir at any cost – Typical UP mentality, no wonder that state has such high female foeticide.”

I am innocent: Maria Susairaj

Mumbai, July 03: Mariah Monica Susairaj Saturday claimed she was innocent in the May 2008 killing of television executive Neeraj Grover.

“All I can say is I am innocent,” Mariah said, facing a hostile and aggressive media after her release in the morning from the Byculla Jail.

“I have left my past behind. I have not yet decided on (the) future. I will let my family decide,” she said.

Mariah said she painted and prayed in prison.

“I have not yet digested the fact that I have been convicted, and I have not seen so many people in the past three years,” she said.

Palestinian prisoners plan hunger strike

Gaza, July 03: More than 7,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails plan to go on a hunger strike on Sunday to protest harsh and inhuman conditions in Israeli prisons.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Palestinian prisoners described the strike as the beginning of a fight to defend prisoner rights and dignity against unprecedented measures adopted by the Tel Aviv regime against them, the Palestinian WAFA news agency reported on its website.

Iran rejects US defense chief’s claims

Tehran, July 03: Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has dismissed Washington’s latest allegations against Iran as repeated lies.

On Saturday, Vahidi rejected the allegations made by former US Defense Secretary Robert Gates as baseless, IRNA reported.

On June 30, which was his last day in office, Gates accused Iran of inflicting casualties on US troops in Iraq and claimed that the Islamic Republic was likely to gain access to nuclear weapons in the next three years.

Germany to sell Saudi Arabia battle tanks

Berlin, July 03: Germany plans to sell 200 Leopard tanks to Saudi Arabia after lifting a decades-long ban on selling heavy weaponry to the Persian Gulf kingdom.

The German weekly news magazine Der Spiegel reported the decision on Saturday, saying the Federal Security Council approved the multi-billion-dollar sale last week.

Distt administration grants permission for Cong rally

Noida, July 03: Gautam Budha Nagar district administration today granted permission to the Congress to hold a farmers” rally here to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier, administration had refused permission to hold the rally at Bhatta-Parsaul and Jewar areas which had been the epicentre of farmers” agitation in May this year.

2 persons trapped in Ravi river rescued

Srinagar, July 03: Two persons who were trapped in the river Ravi in Kathua district have been rescued, police said.

Balwan Singh of Ghatti and Jodh Singh of Kanyari area had gone to fetch sand from the river when they got trapped due to sudden flash flood today, they said.

Police and personnel of fire services rushed to the spot and after day long efforts trapped persons were rescued, they said.

In yet another step taken by the British government to support the world war criminals, the UK border officials allowed Mohammed Kassim Al-Byati to enter the country in 2000. He was later given a permit by the Labour government in 2004 to work as a doctor in the NHS, treating thousands of British patients.

My plan was ruined because of rain, says disappointed Dhoni

Bridgetown, July 03: India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni didn”t hide his disappointed stating that his plan was “ruined due to the rain” that stopped play for around 32 minutes during the final session of the second Test against West Indies that ended in a draw.

“I am disappointed to some extent. The last session was evenly poised. My plan was ruined because of the rain, we got couple of wickets that were needed but bad light spoiled the party,” a dejected Dhoni stated at the post-match presentation ceremony.

West Indies manage a draw against India in the 2nd Test

LSP to launch public campaign on Lok Pal Bill

Hyderabad, July 03: The Lok Satta Party on Saturday announced that it has decided to launch a campaign from July 15 to 17 to mobilize public opinion for the creation of strong and independent anti corruption mechanisms at both the Central and State levels.

The Lok Satta will organize round table conferences and collect at least a million signatures seeking establishment of a Lokpal at the Center, Lokayuktas in States, and ombudsmen in districts.

Govt to spend 1350 crore on SC, ST Housing

Hyderabad, July 03: The state government has decided to spend Rs 1350 crore in all for 1.28 lakh members towards Housing for SC and ST families and an additional amount of Rs 20,000 would be sanctioned per head where the victims lost their land or their houses were submerged for various reasons.

All those farmers or individual families who lost their lands due to irrigational facilities would be sanctioned funds for construction of houses under the relief and rehabilitation package, Minister for Major Irrigation P Sudharshan Reddy told media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday.
