Iran successfully tests 14 missiles

Tehran, June 28: During the second-phase of a war game, Iran today successfully testfired forteen missiles.

The test took place at the Great Prophet 6 War Game, IRNA reported.

These included nine Zelzal missiles, two Shahab-1 and Shahab-2 missiles each and one Shahab-3 missile.

The first phase of the war game was conducted Monday when several missile silos were unveiled.

Mumbai, June 28: You may call it coincidence or whatever, but recently, at the IIFA awards 2011, Bollywood bombshells Bipasha Basu and Amisha Patel were dress in the same outfits walking down the green carpet.

Both the stunners were seen donned in a Ramona Narang dress; thank God, the colors were different! While Bips’ wore a beige coloured dress, Amisha’s was yellow!

Mumbai, June 28: She tweets “Dudes and duddettes.. Have not been offered any film in tollywood (she later corrected it to Kollywood). I would love to work with the above mentioned stalwarts but I aint so lucky!”

Rumors suggested that Sonam Kapoor was going to follow the footsteps of Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha and work in Tamil movies! It was even rumoured that if Sonakshi Sinha’s dates are not available, Sonam will be cast opposite Kamal Hasaan in his forthcoming movie Viswaroopam.

Maya’s law and order better than Mulayam?

Lucknow, June 28: Though the Samajwadi Party is crying loud about the law and order situation of the state. But the fact is that the ground reality of ‘Mayaraj’ is much better then the days of Mulayam.

When Mayawati rode to power in UP in 2007, it was largely on the promise of an improved law and order situation. And to a very large measure she has delivered on her promise. The state today is less lawless than it was during the Mulayam Singh regime: that’s the general perception. It also has a better law and order record than several other states — crime figures bear that out.

Haj Pilgrims’ passport submission by 30th June

Hyderabad, June 28: Mr. Syed Khaleeluddin, Chairman State Haj Committee told the Haj pilgrims to deposit their passports before 30th June, otherwise they will have to forego the opportunity for performing Haj pilgrimage. The pilgrims who have submitted photocopies of their passports should also deposit their passports before the due date.

N.R.I’s should also submit their passports before 30th June.

Mr. Mahboob Peeran told that the last date will not be extended any more.

Kiran drives to Banjara Hills residence for secret meet

Hyderabad, June 28: In an interesting political development, the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, for the first time drove down to the Banjara Hills residence of the Rajya Sabha member, Dr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, to meet him on Sunday afternoon.

The two were closeted for more than an hour, sources said. Dr Ramachandra Rao had called on the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, a few days ago, itself a significant development.

Three-year-old boy rescued hours after kidnapping

Hyderabad, June 28: The Langer Houz police rescued a three-year-old boy hours after he was kidnapped on Monday afternoon. The boy, identified as Vamsi, is the son of Mr Bala Koteswara Rao, a tiles contractor and a resident of Kanakadurga Colony under Langer Houz police station limits. Vamsi was reportedly kidnapped by his father’s younger brother and three others.

Hyderabad, June 28: The Jubilee Hills police is tightening the noose around Dr S. Chaitanya Reddy, the accused in the murder of his wife, Dr Kiran Reddy. Kiran was the niece of the Union minister, Mr S. Jaipal Reddy.

Kiran’s relatives, who were at the bachelor’s party of her brother, Mr Sunil Reddy, held at NGrill, said in statements to the police that Chaitanya Reddy had tried to attack the manager of the pub.

Hyderabad, June 28 (Siasat News): In a theft incident in the jurisdiction of Pet Bashirabad police station, the burglars made their escape good with Titan watches kept in a godown worth Rs. 35,00,000 along with gold coins.

Inspector pet Bashirabad Mr. Ashok Kumar said that the godown was locked yesterday by security guards and when they returned the next morning, they found the locks of the godown broken.

New Delhi, June 28: The Congress has clarified its stand on the statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram regarding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s scanty interaction with media.

The party said the Minister has said everything in simple words and Congress need not to clarify anything.

However, the party also clarified that the Prime Minister doesn’t need any advice from anyone to say whatever he wants to.

Interfaith service at National Cathedral promotes tolerance

As worshipers entered Washington National Cathedral for Sunday morning’s service, some crossed themselves and some took photographs, some wore ties while others wore shorts and a few even wore yarmulkes.

In the center aisle, in place of the baptismal fountain, candle-lit stands bore three books: a Bible, a Torah and a Koran. When a visitor asked a nearby usher what to do, the usher replied: “This is a totally different service than what we usually do. There’s no wrong answer.”

14(f) clause in Presidential Order can’t be deleted says Lagadapati

Hyderabad, June 28: The Vijayawada MP, Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Monday categorically said 14(f) clause in the Presidential Order cannot be deleted and it is “impossible”.

Mr Rajagopal met the AICC general secretary and Union health minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, on Monday morning in Delhi. Later, talking to newsmen he reminded that a similar submission by the state government and the Assembly with regard to unified service rules for teachers has been pending with the Central government for the last five years.

Eloped boy kills self in police custody

Jaipur, June 28: A 22-year-old youth, who was caught in Agra with his girlfriend, allegedly committed suicide in police custody at Kotwali police station here yesterday.

According to police, Ritesh Patidar(22) who had eloped with a 17-year-old girl from his neighbourhood on May 11, was caught and brought here from Agra along with the girl yesterday.

He killed himself by stabbing a sharp-edged piece of a broken glass in the Kotwali premises while the policemen were in the process to record the girl’s statement.

PG students will get fees reimbursement

Hyderabad, June 28: Sub-Committee of A.P. Cabinet which met yesterday decided that postgraduate students belonging to S.Cs., S.Ts., O.B.C’s below 30 years will alone get fees reimbursement. S.C and S.T students upto 34 will also get this facility.

The cabinet sub-committee also decided to extend this facility only to those candidates who have been selected by the convener of admissions.

Children, women as suicide bombers in Pak

Islamabad, June 28: Children being used as suicide bombers was a matter of “deep concern”, a leading Pakistani daily said Tuesday and warned that women and children being used as tools posed a tough new challenge for security forces.

An editorial in the Dawn Tuesday said recent incidents in Pakistan and Afghanistan suggest that militants “may increasingly be resorting to using women and children in suicide attacks”.

Caste certificate scam: DU officials under scanner

New Delhi, June 28: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police may question some of the officials of SC/ST cell of Delhi University in connection with the fake caste certificate scam, unearthed last week.

The kingpin of the gang Himanshu Gupta has told the police that they used to deposit applications, getting the NOC (no objection certificate) with SC/ST cell of DU. “Some official from SC/ST cell must be helping them; otherwise they would not have been able to operate. Police will soon call the staff of SC/ST cell for questioning,” said the police official.

New Delhi, June 28: Team Anna Tuesday said a presentation on both the versions of the Lokpal bill would be made before representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) July 1 in an attempt to gather support for their draft.

Civil society leader Kiran Bedi told a news channel that they had been invited by BJP leader L.K. Advani and would be meeting him July 1. Five civil society representatives, led by Gandhian Anna Hazare, and an equal number of senior union ministers worked jointly over the past two months to draft a Lokpal bill.
