Hyderabad, June 28: Superb Federation of Private Schools arranged a function on 26th June at Gandhi Bhavan to felicitate the top rankers of S.S.C. students.

Addressing the students, Dr. Mohammed Ilyas Rizvi, M.D. of A.P. State Minorities Finance Corporation told the students that the cause of backwardness of the Muslims is that they take no interest in education but the situation is changing these days. Govt demands to obtain licence for women and child welfare institutions

Hyderabad, June 28: Government has made it mandatory for all institutions working for welfare and care of women and children to obtain licence under the Women and Children’s Institutions (Licensing) Act, 1956.

It has formulated a new set of State Rules under the Act and a website for ‘Missing and Found persons’ which were released by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Monday.

Gaddafi could face rape charges

Cairo, June 28: The Hague: Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and his son could also face rape charges, International Prosecuter said.

The International Criminal Court is still trying to link Gaddafi, his son and his brother-in-law to rapes but it does not yet have enough evidence to do so, prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said Tuesday.

It has evidence that rapes have taken place in Libya’s civil war, he said, but he cannot prove Gaddafi ordered them, he said.

Vampire drank blood, ate flesh before killing!

London, June 28: A German vampire killer, who drank the blood and ate the flesh of two teenagers before killing them, has been sentenced to life imprisonment

Identified only as a petty thief called Jan O, 26, the murderer admitted the killing of a girl called Nina, 14, and her friend Tobias, 13, outside the town of Bodenfeld in November last year.

His murders shocked Germany and the judge described the crimes as “excessively violent” and “a just about unimaginable dimension of injustice”.

Girl consumes poison mistaking it to be cough syrup

Erode, June 28: In a tragic incident, a six-year-old girl died here after consuming poison mistaking it to be cough syrup, police said today.

The girl was playing with her elder brother yesterday when she had a bout of coughing. She went inside and consumed the contents of a bottle, presuming it to be cough syrup, police said.

She swooned and fell down, police said, adding, though she was rushed to hospital, she died.

The girl’s parents said they had kept pesticides inside an empty bottle of cough syrup.

Police are investigating the incident.

Suu Kyi says Arab revolts ‘inspiration’

Bangkok, June 28: The recent uprisings in the West Asia have been an “inspiration” to the people of military-dominated Myanmar, pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has said.

“We in Burma envy Egypt’s quick and easy revolution,” the Nobel peace prize winner said in a BBC radio lecture due to be broadcast today, using the country’s alternative name.

“Why is the Arab Spring an inspiration to the Burmese? Because we have lived it ourselves,” the dissident added, according to a transcript published in The Times of London newspaper.

Cong defies curfew, war heats up in UP

Lucknow, June 28: Lucknow Scores of Congress leaders and workers led by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi were detained on Monday for defying prohibitory orders as they tried to march towards the assembly building protesting the ‘spurt’ in crimes in UP, a day after the party was denied permission for the demonstration by the Mayawati government.

Prem Singh Rathore resigned from BJP

Hyderabad, June 28: The former BJP MLA Prem Singh Rathore on Monday resigned from the primary membership of the party. He stated this in a resignation letter addressed to BJP state president G Kishan Reddy.

When he was contacted he said that he is not satisfied with party’s performance at state level.

Rathore was elected as member of legislature assembly from Maharajgunj in 2004 he had also been city unit president of the party.

Five engineering students arrested for killing classmate

Lucknow, June 28: Five engineering students were arrested here for allegedly killing their classmate due to differences over a girl student, police said Tuesday.

Pradeep Kashyap, Obaisuddin, Samarjeet Srivastava, Arbaz Khan and Sunny Singh were arrested Monday.

They had poisoned Apoorva Gupta during a party last year, police inspector R.B. Pandey told reporters in Lucknow. They were civil engineering syudents of a private college here.

“The five were arrested after the victim’s viscera report confirmed that he died of poisoning,” he said.

London, June 28: Gina Rinehart, an Australian business woman who inherited a debt-ridden mining company from her father 20 years ago, is predicted to become the world’s richest person, a media report said Tuesday.

Rinehart, 57, is the richest Australian and her fortune has more than doubled in the past year because of a commodities boom, the Telegraph report said.

She is on course to overtake Carlos Slim, the Mexican magnate worth $73 billion, and the Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who is worth $55 billion, Citigroup has estimated.
